My 2021 Rogue SL is still smooth as new now at 42.5K miles. And yes, Rogue interior and functionality are way better than CRV. Dual view camera with 360 and pano moonroof are a game changer. It's 2024 now and Honda can't implement those 2 simple things? For door handle, I personally prefer those with physical button to press instead of the haptic feedback or sensor whatever. It gives me solid assurance that the car will do what I tell it to do. My BMW X1 has that non-button touch door handle and it's finnicky. Sometimes it registers the touch, sometimes it lags, sometimes it just doesn't do anything and I have to touch it again to function. Not sure on the CRV, but my 2020 Civic Sport didn't have the ability to lock the doors with engine running. Real bummer. Rouge just checks all the boxes on functionality and looks for me. On the rear end looks, I hate that lights on CRV that look like Volvo. Whatever their philosophy is, can they not come up with a different look? But the front end looks better than the Rogue imo. On fuel economy, let's use a 12K miles/year scenario and regular gas price of $4/gal (around DC MD VA area). Rogue will consume 387.10 gals at 31 mpg average = $1,548.38/year. CRV takes 324.32 gals at 37 mpg average = $1,297.30/year. Difference is $251.09/year or $21/month extra expenses for Rogue. Is it a significant difference?
On my second Rogue (1st was 2015 and zero issues with it, 2nd is 2024) and am blown away by all the features it has. I wanted a Lexus NX 250 but Rogue has so many more features for less money! You didn’t mention the remote engine start with the Rogue. It uses an app and works great which is important in Texas with the heat. I used TrueCar to get a great deal on Platinum Rogue with 2.9% financing for 60mo. Would be nice if Rogue had a hybrid option. I’m sure the crv is great, but I’ve had great experience with my Rogues! 👏🏼
The problem with Honda North America is they're releasing washed down versions of Honda's. Look at the CRV's from overseas , they are packed with way more features.
@@jimc3007Ok but even then the base price of the RDX is now $45k so the top trim CR-V should have features the RAV4, Tucson, Sportage, & Tiguan have in their top-tier trims
If these two, Rogue would be my choice. 1. Better outlook especially the sideview, "small" SUV has "big" car feeling. 2. Better tech. features. 3. Better dashboard and upholstery materials. 4. Better ride quality especially lower dB when riding. While Nissan does not have good resell value because of inadequate and poor marketing back in 1980s, besides its last generation of CVT ruined its brand image. The only concern today is the reliability and durability of its VC turbo engine. Let's wait and see more before buy.
@@soga77 You are a typical brainless and blindness keyboard warrior. My last Nissan P11 served me more than 16 years without issue, only worn out parts required to be replaced.
My wife owned a Honda for 12 years. She currently driving a 2024 Rogue SL due to how comfortable the car is, the tech, ease of driving, etc. she liked her Honda, she loves her Nissan.
This is the perfect comparison for me because these are the two cars I’m looking at! I like the CRV but it’s so hard to beat the rogue camera. I don’t understand why more cars don’t offer that.
I'm in the same boat as you.. im a bit reluctant to pay that extra money on CRV or RAV4.. i like the rogue but I'm looking to run Uber etc, so maybe a Toyota or Honda might be better I'm not sure
I’d never drive a Honda with its outdated technology. The inside of a 2024 Honda looks like the inside of a 2010 Nissan. Plus, the Rogue drives better. No comparison. Nissan also improved the CVT making it more efficient and reliable
for a base model i'd go with honda. for maxed out model, i'd go with Rogue. Platinums are built in japan, better quality and the interior is way more luxurious feeling than the CRV.
I upgraded to a larger SUV last year and picked a Rogue because of the safety features. I cannot drive a car without a 360-degree camera. Honda doesn't offer it.
I think Nissan has swung a huge hit with their upgrades in interiors. But unfortunately, that VC-T 3cyl engine is having serious issues, and the JATCO CVT isn't as refined nor as reliable as the Honda unit. And the CRV does look better and will age more gracefully. Honda FTW...
The investigation started with ONLY 10 reports... and the CVT is refined & reliable. New gen altima which uses this CVT with a different tune has GREAT transmission reliability with Consumer reports.
@@bentleysteven-leedolzadell6466Yep, and the CVT uses a chain and is equipped with 2 oil pumps for cooling and lubrication, the earlier ones failed cuz it used a weak belt…
As a 2024 CRV Hybrid Sport Touring owner, my fuel injectors went out at 230 miles and now I hear an annoying click while commuting every couple of minutes while driving.
Everyone always tries to point out Nissan problems, and Toyota, Honda’s wins. Well Nissan makes really reliable vehicles, and Toyota and Honda are having engine issues right now. So mention those too.
In my opinion this is the best looking CR-V to date. Both use CVT transmissions, and Honda has had very few issues with their CVT according to consumer reports. the CR-V hybrid uses a 2.0 non turbo engine that is very reliable. Nissan uses a 1.5 turbo 3 cylinder. My money is on the CR-V, no contest.
Honda had a lot issues when they transitioned to CVT transmissions with horrible vibrations and took months for fixes. A lot of cars are going CVT now. Its like buying a Sony over a Samsung...Sony because of the name =more $$$. And guess what? They'll both get me from point A to point B. But one will cost less.
@@BoopSnoot I guess you could buy anything even with bad credit these days. No, I ended up getting the CRV. Also, does the Rouge have a 3 cylinder engine? I’m not a fan of Nissan.
I find this a little unfair as you had the hybrid version of the CRV vs the gas Rogue. Maybe you should compare the EXL to the CV Premium. Just a suggestion.
I owned a 2015 Altima and was seriously looking at the Rogue. I ultimately went with the CR-V because of reliability and the hybrid engine. The Rogue also had a lot of reported fuel smell issues I didn't want to deal with for a new vehicle. I personally thought the interiors were pretty much on par. I've been very pleased with the CR-V thus far.
The Rogue comes In with approach unlock and walkaway lock feature. Just enough to have the key in your pocket. So actually it doesn't require to press the button at the door handle to unlock . So can give a 0.5 point there
I'm going from a grand cherokee 4xe to either of these. The insurance skyrocketed because of the hybrid feature, dangit. I'm hesitant with a 3 cylinder (hello, Yugo) but I LOVE all of the features. Plus it offers the kick release lift gate. Only crv offers this if you get a hybrid. Aarrgghhh... I'm torn still.
The rogue is so much more feature packed than the Honda. Especially the 2024 models with Google built in. One thing not shown is that maps now display in the dash display too. Incredible tech which Honda lacks
I had a bad experience with a 2023 Rouge rental car. Severe misfire at 30k miles. Had to return the car early. Barely limped back to nearest rental office. I wouldn't go near that variable compression 3 cylinder engine again. I can't imagine towing anything with that engine.
I’ve driven both. The CRV is actually much larger on the inside. To the point where they’re almost in different size categories. The Rogue can properly be put in the “compact SUV” category. The CRV really feels more like a “mid-size SUV”. Front seats, rear seats, and cargo space all feel much larger in the CRV. So if you’re looking for space, the CRV is the way to go. On the other hand, the Rogue is physically a bit smaller, and easier to park with a 360 degree camera and a tighter turning radius. Another important factor is reliability. Nissan has improved their previously unreliable CVT transmission. However, the Rogue’s engine uses new technology called variable compression. It’s really interesting tech, but it’s also new, and there are a lot of reports from owners of serious problems with it. I’ve done a bit of research on all this because I’m in the market for a new family SUV and have looked at both of these.
Drove them back to back myself. Winner, Honda CRV-hybrid. More solid build quality with the Honda, better engine response (there was a turbo lag with the Nissan), and not as expensive. It drove way better than the Rogue. Long term reliability/resale favours Honda, especially with Nissan’s new turbo 3 cylinder.
I may get into a hybrid CR-V in the future, but I can't imagine cross-shopping the Rogue. This is a great review, though, because the improvements in the Rogue may mean corresponding improvements in Infiniti models. In case, I shop up-market from Honda's models.
Our X-Trails equipped with touch sensor door handles (and touch sensing part for locking the door instead button). So the X-Trail does not have that disadvantage. Nappa leather seats are way more comfortable and big panaramic sun roof
The point scale for pricing needs to be reconsidered, because value should be taken into account. Yes the Rogue costs more fully loaded, but it also has way more features... honestly you would think the price gap is bigger. So overall the Rogue is a much better value especially considering you could get the SL and still have a considerable amount more features at a cheaper price. And these are features that impact daily use, not just gimmicks. Honda made major cost cuts with this gen CR-V, dropping features while jacking up the price.
One thing to consider it's way more easier to negotiate on a Nissan Rogue. For example a 2024 Platinum edition in New England area, a dealership offered me $5300 off of MSRP. I'm pretty sure another dealership would beat that to at least $5500-$6000 off MSRP. I never negotiated a Honda but I can bet you they will not knock that much off MSRP. So take this into consideration yes Rogue a bit more $ however if you play it smart and be aggressive negotiating you will be under a CRV in price and that will help with the depricaition in the future
I did the math on this. Even though yes the Rogue costs less upfront, the gas savings over even just five years is enough to make the CR-V hybrid less expensive. Then add in the better resale value for the CR-V and it really is no contest longer term.
I have practical and safe now with my Subie Forester …. But I need a little extra tech and luxury… I think I’m leaning towards the Rogue… only a Platinum would work but the price is crazy
The sound is a little different, its more solid on CRV than Rogue imo. I would still go for Honda for safety and reliability + quiteness and fuel efficiency.
I'm waiting for e-power version. So no cvt, 7.0 s 0-100km/h (much faster than this one), the interior is identic with this one in video except the gearshift lever but the exterior is the pre-facelift, which is better. Because no so much chrome on front grill and no piano black on the wheel arches.
I like the way you compare a standard gas vehicle and a hybred vehicle, then give points for gas mileage to the hybred, duh! I am not really convinced that your reviews are really fair. I agree that the CRV is and has been the resale leader for years. I have liked your videos in the past, but this one falls short. Please compare apples to apples!
The Rogue is a real looker! Based on design alone, I would go Rogue all day every day. However, I can't help but worry about long-term reliability with both their CVT transmissions and the new tech in their tiny 3-cylinder engines. PS - Despite not being sports cars, I still wish you would add 0-60 time comparisons in these reviews.
I thought that Honda/Acura was the only mfgr that offered “automatic door locking after walkaway”, so I was surprised to learn that Nissan also offers it.
I got Nissan rogue platinum 2021 and now a honda CRV ex l and CRV is mucho better , better dinamics , the only thing I miss a little is the 360 camera ,other than that day and night
The Rogue is a nicer vehicle and better value, except for one fatal flaw, the engine is not reliable. The 3 cylinder Nissan engine is hot mess. So the Honda wins hands down.
Nice additions with reliability and resale value. I'd suggest adding a point for safety as well, especially for family vehicles like these. CR-V was an IIHS top pick, and Nissan is not in that list as of 2024.
Honda CR-V is a better car... no question about it. Nissan Rogue has PVT transmission that goes down at 120~140K miles and replacing it costs around $6~7K. I know because a few weeks ago I had to do it on my 2014 Nissan Rogue LS AWD... $6,560.58 exactly. When it is time for me to shop for a new car I will look at Toyota and Honda cars only.
I can't believe there is someone who would buy nissan over honda for same price , i had Nissans like rogue , altima , sentra , maxima most of them poor quality interior, poor reliability like cvt and 1.5l 3 cylinder engine that causes problems before 100k .
Rogue much much better car. It's a ridiculous scoring system. The fewer features you put in a car, the more reliable it is and the fewer complaints from users. Take the toyota corolla. Zero technological features and the simplest atmospheric engine in the world. There are no parts to complain about or malfunction. If you compare the Mercedes cla and the corolla, you will probably score it as a better car because of the 0.1 point system in your reliability index and you will score it as a better car. And of course this will be complete nonsense :D
