After many years of back pain I was diagnosed with degenerative discs at L4 - L5 and L5 - S1. Recently the pain has been unbearable. I discovered this video a couple of days ago and tried the exercises more out of hope than expectation of any improvement. I am now virtually pain free after a couple of days. Thank you so much for uploading this video.
Omg same here. I have herniated discs in the same areas you mentioned and recently my sciatica has been just on and off non stop. Before I used to get sciatic pain once in a while maybe two or three times a year. In the recent months is almost weekly. I go to acupuncture, get biweekly deep tissue massages. Do stretches, and even bought a massage fun to massage the areas that are tight. I use a tens unit when I'm sitting down at work just so I can work comfortably. I don't know what else to try anymore. I'm gonna try these exercises but what else have you tried or helped you.
@@Nana-1908 if you can afford it, a spinal decompression machine twice weekly has helped me tremendously. I use it at a chiropractor‘s office. It’s not cheap, but has helped my sciatica that goes into my toe. I have scoliosis and driving is the worst. Make sure you use a wedge in your car for sitting also.
Came accross your video. I’m a nurse for 17 years and recently started to have back pain, currently on physical therapy which help minimally. Your exercises gave me instant relieved from my back pain. Thank you very much!
Thank you SO much folks. At age 82, and having back pain treated since my early twenties, I’ve never seen such a variety of stretches that REALLY work. After all these years....that feels SO good, and has given me such relief. Bless you!
Your visual demo's and verbal advice has given me more hope in 9 minutes than any amount of health appointments I have had in 12 months. I am deeply grateful 🙏 thanks doc 👍
Totally agree with you Anita. Years of meds, injections, infusions, acupuncture etc and zero improvement. Following these demos has improved things in just a few days.
Oh my God, oh My God, I discovered your video yesterday after my mom had been seriously in unrelenting pain, I sent her the link, because I just felt so useless. I'm a bit of an exercise head so I took her on her first session according to your videos. And she's making comments of immense relief! I'm smiling like a child. We're going to continue for a while to really assess progress. THANK YOU SO MUCH. THANK YOU THANK YOU.
I looked this up out of desperation because sometimes I injure my lower back (caused by improper movement or lifting). When this happens, it's difficult to sleep. When I did the last stretch in this video, my lower back cracked and I FELT that in my whole body. WHAT THE F! Instant relief! I did the rest of the stretches as well and I feel SO much better. I will add these to some of my regular routines. I see many others you've helped with this video too. Many thanks!
Thank you so much for sharing these stretches! I have middle back pain and when I stretched with my arms extended from the arm of my couch my spine released on the pain spot. Instant relief!
I’ve been diagnosed with Sciatica since 5 months ago and recently with lower back pain. I did physical therapy, acupuncture which none of them help much. I started using these techniques in this video and I can see improvement! Thank you so much 🙏
Sir. You are the BEST. You bring information and techniques that I've never heard or seen before. And it is relieving my lower back sciatica pain, that I've had for 2 yrs. And you do it in a open forum. THANK YOU SO MUCH. And God bless you.
I am having back pain this week and just sitting crosslegged in bed and slouching while reading my phone my lower back pain developed a tightness in the middle of my back. I have trouble moving to lie down and I was worried I wouldn't be able to sleep and have to head for the ER tomorrow morning but after doing this it brought relief. I think I can wait out the weekend and see my physician next week. Thank you.
Thank you, thank you so much for this! I’m struggling so much with this right now and no physio or doctor even mentioned spinal decompression! It’s really relieving for me
Thank you Dr Rowe. i was convinced i had piriformis syndrome (sharp pain in center of my buttocks down to my foot)and worked on those stretches that you recommeded for about a week but the sciatica presisted. so i tried your home decompression therapy techniques and all i can say is WOW! pressure was relieved almost immediately. tried it right before bed and was able to sleep thru the night without the discomfort.
Awesome video. I did all the exercises and it gave me a very nice stretch on my lower back and it's literally gone. My pain is very mild so I think this will help speed up the healing process. 👍
Your are amazing I am suffering from Lower back pain since many years and doing my exercise but you are amazing I am much better thanx a lot regads from Pakistan
I just want to congratulate you for your videos, you deliver some good explanations, and demonstrations that are clear, precise and comfortable / relaxing to watch / practice. I have been following some other channels but your expertise is very much appreciated. Thank God I have come across your channel. # WELL-DONE 🤝
You don't know how appreciative I am for this video im 31 and im heading for my 4th back surgery that has to do with discs and the pain i have just by trying to stand up is almost unbearable this video is really going to help me
I've had lower back pain since we were forced to work from home during the pandemic (no home office so bad chair and desk), and bulging disc with pinching nerves on right side of butt and leg since last november until februari. Now only lower back pain remains. Searched and tried a ton of exercises since then but nothing really gave relief. Found this video about 2 days ago and the last exercise works like magic.... lower backpain is significantly reduced... i can even bend over again. Huge thank you ❤ i thought i was gonna have to live with the pain forever
Doc - your videos are so helpful! All those exercises help me in easing the severe pain I get due to Spinal Stenosis. Some nights I wake up due to severe pain radiating to my left back, calf muscle and my ankle. These exercises help me. Thank you!
Thank you for sound practical exercises that are effective without needing to invest in expensive equipment or trips to a therapy center. Something I discovered on my own which doesn't get much mention in any channel is to simply stretch my legs to maximum extension while laying in bed (don't do this on a worn out mattress - firm or extra firm is good) and hold in that position for a while. This provides an incredible amount of relief (at least for me - YMMV). You do apply this concept in some of your exercises. I just wanted to point out this simple in bed stretch as it yields a lot of benefit and has the same advantages as your exercises.
Wow. Exercises that work, brilliantly explained/shown. This has been a complete lifesaver after months of back pain and (sort of) sciatica. Well done. Weirdly I'd kind of created my own exercise in desperation, largely by trial and error similar to one of these but so good to have proper scientifically based advice. Will be watching out for more for sure.
Thank you sir. Glad you have this channel. Got to really try alot if this. I'm in Construction trade, so I need to take care of my back. Again thank you
I sit a lot at my job and I have lower back pain I will definitely try this thanks 🙏 If you can advise on any stretches to help with femoral nerve compression please post a video...Thanks!
Thank you SO MUCH for your simple to follow and informational videos ! I would be happy to hear your thoughts about inversion table. I bought one 2 years ago and it took me a lot of time to understand how it can help with my lower back pain, But will be happy to learn from you and it might help other viewers of your channel.
-I just discovered this channel & subscribed immediately-- Thank you so much for sharing your time & expertise in these instructional videos. You're doing a great service for those of us with aches/pains & issues.🧘🏻♀️
I Suffer from degenerative scoliosis and have had lower back pain for pretty much the past 10 years or so. I wish I had known about spinal decompression then! It’s a god send. My favorite is hanging over the bed with the pillow under my hips. Pure relief is all I can describe it as. And it’s works much better than my acupressure mat or those little home massagers.
Sofa thing worked a treat. Not brave enough to get stuck on the sofa, ever had the pain you would understand, found a wall at the right height, just above belly button. Quietly lent over, then a bit further and relax. 15 minutes later eureka. Wish I knew this when I was really knackered for a year 2 years ago, CHEERS.X.
Perfect timing Dr. Rowe. Having trouble with a herniated disc that bothers me most when I drive (right side, gas pedal foot side). Can you consider making a video rounding out tips for healthy ways to get into and out of a car, maybe stretches to do prior and and after?
This is an embarrasing question to ask in a public forum ,but here goes ...can you make a video for people with low back pain to sit on the toliet with out aggravating the lower back pain.
Started your therapy for severe sciatica attack 4 days ago, getting some relief. Thank you! I have noticed my right foot has rotated to the right ; I can't actually put flat on floor. Would you be able to comment on this? Many thanks, JJG
I'm glad the exercises are giving relief. As for the foot, my best advice is to get it looked at by your local doctor. They can do an exam and give you the best diagnosis. Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for sharing very useful lumbar decompression .. I tried it and it really works.. I have a disc bulge between L5-S1 recently diagnosed. is plank exercise safe to do before after stretch
Great exercise! I've seen you doing this exercise on the sofa on another surface, which I don't remember now, And I tried doing the lower back decompression exercise on the exact same place your doing now.I used the couch to stretch my lower back It really worked and the pain I felt in my lower back started passing. What a coincidence...Thanks to you 🤗
Got injections 6 weeks ago for bulging L4 and herniated L5. No noticeable improvement so far. I get sciatic pain and tingling/numbness in both legs. Right leg is by far the worst. Will try these exercises if I can do them. I feel you would need a reasonable level of fitness to do them. Will report back if successful.
I’m kind of a nerd and love reading how things work. I was wondering if you can do a video explaining HOW this works in layman’s terms. I know it takes pressure off so that blood and nutrients can go between discs or something to that extent ??
@@DrRowe having fused vertebrae of L5 with S1 on left side. Feeling back pain, constant struggling in balancing the body weight equally on both the sides when sitting walking standing, even when lying down. And common stretches and strengthening exercises of lumbar, hip and glutus muscles are not applicable for our conditions. Please make series of videos only for incomplete lumbo sacral transitional vertebrae. 1.sitting 2.standing 3.walking 4.sleeping positions 5. Lower back and glute stretches 6. Strengthening 7.training of proper use of back and abdominal muscles to help in keeping the back muscles flexible and strong
Great relief 😌 , not for long but the exercise is worth it .But can sciatica be heal , because the surgical doctor says mines is surgical , I'm in this pain for 3 plus years it is unbearable and I need it to go ,is it possible. I need 😫 the advice
Would this be ok for upper back pain due to spondylosis/pinched nerves? If not do you have a video that gives guidance and advice? My partner is in a lot of pain and is having spasms, due to pinched nerves. Thank you :)
I’m currently in a bad way . I’m can barely stand up and when I do the pain is intolerable. I’ve been trying techniques to alleviate the pressure in my back to help with the pain in my right buttock and right leg. Yeah be finally found a position that is proving to work for me today . I’ve propped my self up with pillows on my bed. I lean onto the pillows with my legs hanging directly down to the floor. With my knees off the floor and my feet touching the floor. Relaxing my hips muscles and you feel the relief minutes after . I’ve been in this position for 5 minutes at a time . Yeah t really workx
God Lord! I deeply appreciate you are putting this info out there to all of us sufferers. I tried this with my gymball and did some variations ...my furniture is old and I am a bit heavy, so no. In the beginning I thought my bed is worn out but now I see it is my body. I got relief instantly 👍👍
Here's an idea for a future video, doc. Can you teach the way a person who's got lower back pain and do walking every day should walk properly, so as not to cause more pain to the back?
