I'm pretty sure the whole idea of Mewtwo's sprite is to give the appearance of a puffed-out chest, to display power and dominance. But with the limit of pixels and anatomy, namely the large kangaroo-esque lower body, the artists couldn't quite manage it. That's what I see, anyway.
0:49 he has a smiley face on his belly :) 1:44 he is dodging a attack 2:49 he is Kickin something 3:21 ok he is just a demon 3:53 he is Rolling dice 4:43 he is like ahhhhHHHhHhh 5:26 he is like hU something furRy!6 6.19 he is watching you as he’s about to destroy you 7:03 ok he is stretching
Blastoise - He looks like he is striking a lame Captain Ginyu pose or like slid in from the side of the screen and is trying to stop in a comedic fashion lol Nidoran (female) always bothered me, it looks odd. Like it's kind of laying down but not really? Nidorino - another one where I just don't get exactly what it is supposed to be doing lol Vulpix - Why is it standing on it's hind legs? Machoke - This one really bothered me back in the day, Machoke is supposed to look awesome but this things looks like somebody tried to ball it up like a piece of paper lol Hitmonlee - yes I know he is doing a kick motion but he is just positioned so weird that somebody seeing it for the first time would be like wtf is that even supposed to be? Ryhorn - The way it's head is angled make its pecks look like full grown lady breasts lol Aerodactyle - Where tf is he going? Why does it look like he is leaving the battle? That always pissed me off lol
wtf are you talking about. I agree with you about Blastoise, Nidorino and Machoke but Vulpix is simply leaping forward and Aerodactyl has one of the coolest poses in the game. Pokemon sprites don't just have to show the pokemon in standing attention position looking straight at the opponent
Arrrgh... really need to finish that 20 year retrospective.... maybe in November. I like Articuno's R/G sprite the best and I consider Aritcuno female in my head canon. Don't know why. -- AT
you're are like a faster uploading ohnickel. you're a great small youtuber, but I think people could appreciate your vids more if you got a better mic.
Thanks for the support! Improving audio quality is probably next on my list for upgrading video quality in general. I'm not sure when it will happen, but I'll continue maximizing the tools I have for now.
Glad you like the video! I actually have another product mascot video written and planned, but since I have some Halloween-themed videos for October, it'll probably be ready later in the year. However, in my more general lists, I sometimes give spots to brand mascots since I like that subject matter, so look out for some mascots in other types of lists. In fact, in the video I'm uploading next, one of the spots will involve a brand mascot.
Omg, for a moment there I thought you weren't going to mention Onix. Lol. Yellow was my favorite because of the sprites and because I started playing it when it first came out, but I remember Onix looking terrible compared to the rest that early on in the game.
I think all sprites are pretty good in pokemln yellow exept fof magikarp (looks like its dead) and articuno (what is this!?). Also its confusing why mewtus tail is half black half red (looks epic tho)
"The GameBoys engine couldn't handle some of the sprites. " *Extreme cringe* I wish more people knew anything about game development and programming so none of us devs have to cringe so much when gamers talk about it. 😂
Bit of a shame I didn't think that line over. The Game Boy doesn't have an engine. I should have said the "Pokémon engine" or "Gen 1 engine." I generally don't talk about the inner mechanisms of the games since I know it's not my strong suit. I usually leaving information of game coding and beyond to one of my regular cohosts since he has a better understanding of that. I usually just talk about fighting games, game lore, and make goofy comments on Pokémon sprite poses.
MrTopTenList Ah, I understand. However, Pokemon doesn't use any engine actually. 😃 It's written in a programming language called Assembly, without any engine. 🙂
In fact, Poliwrath in the sprite is executing a Diving Elbow (That movement in which the wrestlers launch themselves from the third rope to land an elbow), so I don't see a problem with Poliwrath, the sprite is very accurate.
gold bat died in somebody's pool LOL You Can still buy Pokemon Red and Blue and Yellow and Gold and Silver and Crystal on the Nintendo 3DS Eshop. But not for loong.... Rapidash looks like it's lunging at you like one of the fire enemies from Gradius II
Ónix in yellow version looks like a metapod controlling a Ónix and in my opinion it's like Baby from DB gt he takes over someone and gets their characteristics
Perhaps. I'll want to see what Sun and Moon has to offer that would make for a fun list. I plan on going to Gen 3 for the next video in the sprite series whenever I get to making it.
Yes, but it'll probably cover a different aspect of the sprites beyond the weird sprites since R/S/E had good-looking sprites all-around. It'll likely be on the coolest sprites.
Um, yeah, that's the point of my Pokémon sprite series. I hate to explain jokes, but my Pokémon videos are pure comedy videos based on intentional overanalysis. Some of my viewers like this video series, so I generally do a video like this every once in awhile. If you don't find the video funny, that's fine since humor is subjective, but if you didn't enjoy the video because you thought I was serious in pointing out tiny details, then you did not get the joke of the video. However, I'll take some blame in not explaining that this is a pure joke/comedy video in the intro since I assumed viewers would get it's a joke or have seen at least one of my other Pokémon videos before.
I clicked on this video because Raichu was in the video's icon. DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!!!!!! Just kidding! I do enjoy these videos... but I did kinda feel misled...
I never mean to mislead. As with my 3 previous sprite videos, I put a bunch of random sprites that I like all over the thumbnail for the sake of tradition. Normally with my thumbnails, you can expect at the very least a mention of the characters shown, but the Pokémon sprite videos are one of the few videos that don't follow that formula. Anyway, glad you still liked the videos!
This is a funny coincidence since that was literally going to be my next video! It's scripted, partially recorded and all. I guess you predicted the future.
