Dick Jennings pub was known as Dirty Dicks. The steet you are walking along to the Florrie is Mill St. The terraced houses where Cilla was filmed is called Yates St. The social club is the Southern Area Memorial Hall (SAMs) an Orange Order meeting hall. The street you walk down to the river/ train station is Harlow St. Otterspool is about 2 miles further south. Great video.
Hi mate nice little walk about today . This is fantastic for me as I am 67 now and live in Spain now . I worked on the railway for 32 years and love seeing anything around my old home city .👍🏻😊👍🏻
Left this area for Australia in 76, the Florrie is the only thing I recognize, and that's obviously been renovated. I did hear about the fire that gutted it years ago?
@@alexscott1257 Yes, thanks for that. The difference in the heights of the terrace on the two streets is interesting. The derelict site just beyond the end of the street looks like the remains of a gasometer.
Where you turned right onto Caryl street , if you turned left at the gate and walked to the end you could walk down the Herculaneum steps onto the waterfront, then look up at where the overhead railway used to shoot out of the hillside under the streets above .
@Nicky Butt But...all the hidden gems down there?! Is St Gabriel's Church not beautiful? Is the Florrie not a stunning building and a great asset to the whole city? The Bread streets? The Park Palace Ponies? The Herculaneum Stairs and the remnants of the docks? The sandstone cliffs blasted apart with dynamite many years ago to make way for the rail yards? The Century Buildings with it's marvelous clock tower? The views from the streets and parks that stretch across the Mersey and to the misty Welsh mountains beyond? The flower meadow in deepest summer? Please reconsider you opinion of the beautiful place called Dingle!
