This bike is my 2019 Zero DS with PowerTank that I rode two-up, with camping gear, unsupported, cross-country over 3600 miles in July 2020 with my 10-year-old daughter.
Impressive setup. since you going to be cross country and you have a extensive after market electric setup Im going to suggest you something simple, cheap and very effective, it probable going to save you a bad time in the middle of nowhere. Apply "Dielectric grease" in all those electric connectors and connections, Dielectric, is as tune-up grease, is a viscous non-conductive waterproof substance used to protect electrical connections from corrosion and dirt. I also see you have a LED aftermarket headlight bulb put some in the socket as well. Enjoy your coming adventures and ride safely.
I just came to your channel from Transport Evolved (you dropped a comment on TEN 328) and this right here is very interesting to me. I'm not a DIY guy, _at all_ - so I won't be doing any of these things. But this is very close to the kind of thing that I'm looking to pay _someone else_ to build for me - preferably at the factory rather than requiring a lot of custom mods. I've been hoping to replace the BMW RT - the model I've been riding since almost the beginning, in the late '80s - with an electric, as soon as one was made that could do the things I need that the RT does. [detailed specs requirements skipped for space] That's the main reason I follow Transport Evolved and a couple other such channels; all the rest is idle curiosity. I'm eager for whatever information you might have on the subject.
Seriously sweet setup. Did your daughters leg rub on the charging switches or are they recessed out of the way? Hard to tell in the video. If they were accidentally flipped while you're riding, any consequences?
The switches are ideal, they're pretty tucked in out of the way, they were never accidentally flipped. I just got a piece of metal about 1" x 4" or whatever and made a very slight Z bend in it and drilled three holes in it, very simple setup but works well.
Thanks! You can get numerous size heatsinks here: www.heatsinkusa.com/ I got 4 of the 12.000" Wide Extruded Aluminum Heatsink, and had to cut the rear ones down to fit and clear the sidestand. Heatsink tape has been working well (hasn't fallen off) but I suspect heat transfer would be better if you got it welded.
The same charging setup can be DIY from charging electronics modules made in the TC Electronics factory. Elcon is the US distributor that sells a version of those TC modules.
