I would not abuse my stovetop with heavy point loads, but the pie is beautiful.

Just a thought, saying Canadian meat pie is pretty different than saying French Canadian, or Quebec meat pie. It's like saying American cream doughnut when describing a Boston cream doughnut.

You have a valid point and I had some reservations about the thumbnail and the description too. I live in Rhode Island and in the city of Woonsocket are many descendants of French Canadian families that relocated from Quebec during the industrial boom and brought their family recipes with them. As expected, no two home cooks made it the same way. Some used lard exclusively in the crust - others used butter, some used saltine cracker crumbs instead of potatoes. It can be confusing , but it's no different than the many ways to make spaghetti & meatballs. Everyone has their own recipe. Thanks for the comment and God bless!

I have an Epidemic Sound subscription for all my sound beds so there are no issues with copyright. The music is pretty good just not well known like what you have on your channel.

Absolutely love Tourtiere. Is the recipe different from French to Canadian?

Good question. I think Tourtiere is a Canadian invention but most likely influenced by British cooking and their love of savory pies - especially pork pies. The Tourtiere is more similar to Scottish meat pies , although the spices used are different and typically use hot water pastry for the crust. I have made them all and will do some videos during these winter months. I do a lot more baking in cold weather 👍

Is your cup American or Canadian cup size? Canadian cup is Imperial and hence one Canadian cup is equal to 8 fl oz.
@CreativeCookingVideos

The American cup is 8 fluid ounces as opposed to the Imperial cup having roughly 9.6. This video was made in the US so I use American measurements. Thanks for asking!

@@CreativeCookingVideos I therefore follow your recipe using 1 cup = 8 fl oz. Thanks for letting me know. Thank you also for sharing your recipe. I know how to make the French meat pie but in the last two days, RU-vid has been sending me videos on this Tourtiere and it looks so interesting . . .

How high is the oven?

Hello Linda, the oven temperature is 375 degrees F or 190 C. Bake for one hour - center oven rack. I hope this helps!

Not going to use egg 😄
@CreativeCookingVideos
@CreativeCookingVideos 6 месяцев назад
You don't have to. The egg was added based on MANY American versions of tourtiere. I didn't see any harm in adding it, but oh boy did I catch some flack for it!
