Check out my first tow with a proper RAM 1500 Rebel with air suspension going up 6% grade. || Like || Subscribe || Share || Big Thanks to Tate Chrysler in Frederick, MD! www.tatechryslerfrederick.com #RAM1500 #AirSuspension #Towing
Love your reviews, I love comparing whats on the market to what I have. Back when covid hit I scored a 2019 Ram classic express night edition, billet metallic grey and all black, 20 inch black rims, black running boards black badges, 1381 payload, heated seats and steering wheel tow haul mode, sport hood 5.7 litre hemi for a sweet deal of 40k canadian, 3.92 rear axle, 4 wheel drive, we rule the road with winter tires in the colder months and we tow our little hideout trailer all summer long to camp, about 4200 lbs, Im in love with Ram and love watching these videos hah, great work!
I had a 2018 rebel, bought it new and loved everything about it until the air ride suspension went out on me within the first year(would drop the suspension all the way down to it's lowest setting) Got the control module replaced under warranty and it went out again one month later. After finding out that the module only has a 12 month warranty after being replaced instead of the existing 5 year factory warranty I sold the truck for a 2013 6.2l f250 with 120,000 on it and haven't regretted it yet. The Ford has been unstoppable
Hot but safe. conventional dinosaur oil thermally breaks down about 350-400.. Synthetic is good up to 500 degrees before it starts breaking down. Still not bad when you realize it was 100 degrees outside, pulling uphill wide open throttle with A/C on.....never overheated..... pretty good
The truck did great! The 5.7 Hemi is a runner.... I think the Ford ecoboost is the best pulling half ton but it doesn’t handle the trailer nearly as well as a Ram or Silverado.... this Ram is impressive stability wise ...you were cranking with it ,if you had a proper weight distribution hitch and proper tongue weight it would be an even better tow...
@@JB_WhoWork Loaded to max... 50psi in the tires is a likely cause for the wallow... max load, max psi... 80 would settle it right down. WDH is definitely a must have. still an impressive run
This is the off road package so the suspension is soft. The regular 1500 is closer 1,100. Rated to tow like 12k. Really, nobody should be towing more than 9k on the regular with a 1500. If he had torsion bars it it wouldn't sway at 9k. This truck out did the gm 2500 6.6l. If you're going to tow a long stretch and several times a yr at 9k, you need to go to a 2500. If you're getting a gas 2500, never buy a gm. Either the ram 6.4 or the Ford 7.3. The ram is made better overall and the 6 4l, guys are showing 300k+ on the original setup. The 6.4l motor hasn't been changed at all in over a decade. I'd go ram all the way, 2nd Ford. No gm ever now. They are owned by the Chinese communist party and make over half their vehicles Either in China or a China owned province.
Hey man, where did you find that document that you show at 1:18? A lot of what I've been reading says that the payload number on the door sticker does NOT account for ANY passengers, only a full tank of gas, but you're saying is DOES account for 300lbs of people…?
After test thia one out, would you say it could tow a 10,000lbs 8x20x13.5 feet tiny home? I bought a 2017 rebel with air ride and tow package with 392 rear end. The biggest ive towed so far is 14x7.5x6.6 enclosed trailer at 7,000lbs. Was thinking if do end up towing the tiny home ill buy tge weight safe weight distribution hitch rhat tell you the tongue weight and gives you the proper settings to lvel the trailer perfectly.
Just curious if it was in or has a “tow/haul” mode. When the camera is focused on the temperatures, speed, etc. it says “normal” in yellow. What is that exactly? Thanks for the reviews! Love the channel!
Ok. I'm very new to this and considering a rebel for towing. If you're not flooring itike him do we really need to worry about oil temps getting that high?
Question- electric trailer brake settings- what’s the difference between light and heavy? Which do I use on a 6500 pd TT? Also, Tire pressure- door jamb on my truck says 70 but the tires say 80, if towing do I do 80 or leave it at 70?
Maybe it was at the time you filmed this video, but the air suspension is not standard on the 2021 or 2022 Rebels - neither of the trucks I’m looking at buying have it.
Hey JB, I'm curious, have you did a review already on a 2019-2021 RAM 1500 3.6L (no ecodiesel)? I'm asking because I'm on the fence about whether to buy a 2019 RAM 1500 or save up even more for a possible gas 2019 RAM 2500. I need a truck for a daily but I don't want to get over my head in finances, utilities, life emergencies etc.
@@JB_WhoWork if you could ever find a big horn or Laramie 2019, or 2020 or 2021 1500 in a 3.6L, it would highly appreciated. I already know that the other people in the world are going to criticize me, because I even mentioned a 3.6L. Everyone on the planet was not born into Hellcat red-eye money status.
Lol my 2020 Rebel is 936 lb payload if i recall correctly… it is loaded with everything including that heavy panoramic roof. So yeah i traded payload capacity for accessories.
no weight distribution system, no sway control, poorly loaded trailer(should be 10% in the hitch), way over your payload capacity, driving way too fast, that's an accident waiting to happen. i've towed a 6000 pound travel trailer with the same truck except no air suspension and we do 5000 miles a year towing with it. our payload is around 1400 lb, hitch weight is 700 and i level the truck using the weight distribution hitch
I will have to disagree to a extent. I had a 2018 6.2. It wasn’t rated to pull more than 9,500 but when it was loaded I could stomp it and it would still set you back in the seat. I towed almost 100k miles with the thing with very minimal issues. Granted I had the 8 speed flushed and the AC condenser replaced. That’s it. Now I own a f150 5.0 with a 3.73 rear end. It feels identical to the 6.2. They all are a lot more capable truck than 15 years ago. So Gm isn’t totally crap if you maintain your vehicle as you should. And im not brand loyal at all I just buy what I like at the time.
