re: comparing children with other children. this one really made a great impact on me negatively growing up. You are getting compared to someone that has a different environment, starting point, and even support may it be financial or emotional support. I started to rebel and started to compare my parents and siblings to others (well not verbally). Like why is it only I that is getting compared? You raised me and wanted me to excel at stuff since other people excel at it. But when I started to try and even pursue what I wanted or what I was good at, all I got were words of discouragement since it was an additional expense or I should spend my time doing chores since they were busy working. Like I don't know anymore. I know what I should do but it's hard when the family, including relatives, tells you there's no use in trying or that you can't make it since a, b, c, etc... is way better than you.

This is what gives me hope in our younger generations...Even in other countries, teenagers can SEE what problems need to be fixed in our societies rather than fall pray to the same mentality as what our parents taught us. Each generation learns from the ones before. It's okay to think "outside the box" because that's where ALL the best ideas are found! :) Love and Light!! :)

I like this topics so much and it's very important to be talked about. I'm glad the current generation is more aware and open-minded to fix it and hopefully in the coming years we would be able to change or break the toxic culture in our country

I'm not sure or maybe I just didn't notice before? But as far as I know, there's no 'cancel culture' before. But since, most people nowadays are on social media. And people heard that there was a int'l celeb most probably in SoKor, the filipinos adapt it too. Its like they think it is good when someone against to their stand or did something against their belief.

As someone who grew up hearing this, I disdain the comments for sure. But now I've become a tita (just around 30s), I catch myself saying this to the younger kids and close friends and fam. Although brutal, I find it more unempathetic to not point out and listen to their issues. We even sharing diet programs now. 😂 Truth is better than coddling to emotions.

Are you going sad because you did not do anything? Be a happy person think positive compare on negative there's always an answer in every problem. @jacers14
@jacers14 5 месяцев назад
I don't get the one who correlated crab mentality to his political belief "that he paints the other side the evil ones, that the other side doesn't want the country to succeed". No matter the political belief of a person whether you perceive it as right or wrong, at it's core he/she wants a better country. Toxic trait: Too politically bias that people tend to forget to be kind and understand the other people's view whether it's right or wrong in their perception. Anyway I'm not gonna reply to any replies on this post cause it's just gonna create toxic discussions.

One toxic Filipino habit is mahilig kumain at matakaw. Every meal is more than 1 rice. Then may meryenda pa, and snacks in-between meals. Kung ayaw ma-body shame, wag kasi masyado matakaw. It's for your own good anyway. Eating too much leads to obesity, high blood pressure, heart attack, cancer, etc.

I'm filipino born in Canada proud of brown skin I think of being related Polynesians like pacific islanders. Though most filipinos prefer to look Chinese, Korean in skin color and Spanish facial features I see those people as "generic " . I believe Hawaiians and Philippines are related than the North East Asians.
