It's kinda weird to think that I actually do have a VR now. For 5 years, I saved up money for a good PC from multiple part time jobs, all the while having this interest in VR that I couldn't act on because I just didn't have enough money at the time. 3 months ago, though, I finally managed to buy one and I've been enjoying it ever since. It's a quest 2 and I do wish I was capable of affording more, but like it's been a hell of a good time getting to know people in VRChat (when I'm able to talk-) and actually getting decent at Beat Saber.
I am in your past situation-- I really want to have a vr and I'm thinking of looking for a job next year so I can buy a PC decent enough so it can-- yk... Not lag or explode while I play
I actually felt genuine pain when you said you couldnt go to japan. Your work ethic is something I envy and no matter how bad i want my goals i can never work as hard as you did. 11 hour shifts daily would kill me. I could never. Much respect and great video.
i was around 12 when i was watching teen reacts and i saw them playing the job simulator game and thats when i was finally interested in VR and kept myself updated with videos and newer consoles being released when i just stuck with the Oculus and finally got one this year and i do not regret it and i hope i can buy a pc to connect it to do more in games and in vrchat. SOMEDAY!
I joined VR because I had a nerd club in school, And the main teacher who was in charge had a quest one and he let people use it… and after I tried it I was really amazed and I eventually got one myself.
I got myself a Vive Cosmos, last year... after playing with it for a few MONTHS and struggling with tracking, I looked up reviews... Cosmos, has internal tracking so I didn't need a ton of room setup, but if I reach my arm over the controller in my other hand, I lose tracking on BOTH HANDS. I look DOWN... that's all, and it loses tracking of both hands AND MY HEADSET! I still believe VR is the future, just not as near as we think, yet...
For me quest 2 don't hit right anymore so I want PC vr but I'm 10 so that will be a long time but I won't give up because you inspire me to never stop trying
I know how you feel so much man. I lost my whole end of senior year and trips because of all the stuff happening in 2020. Also I used a 2060S for rift vr as well.
my mans saying 1050ti is terrible for VR while i rock a 1050ti for VR (granted VR optimization has gotten much better, and a new FSR plugin has been released) great vid btw
I got a vr and tried it on my laptop, I worked so hard to get that vr just to figure out my laptop isn’t strong enough :( A few months later I got a pc for my b-day and bought a new vr headset :)
man its cool watching other youtubers grow. it inspires me tons but i dont know what i putting me down man 😅 I feel like i cant do it but i can if i really try its hard to explain. might just be me burned out on youtube or something lool
I completely understand! Whenever I do feel fatigued from editing or brainstorming video ideas, I like to just spend a day to just relax and put everything RU-vid related aside.
In other parts of the world VR cost alot And guess what I am In, yes one of those countries Where even the cheapest vrs cost more then my kidney I will be moving from this country To USA And when I get their I hope to get a good setup and everything And I am ready for the work required for it
im trying to get a vr soon but im not gonna get the money i need for a better pc im helping my dad with stuff to earn money but i only get 2 dollars so im just gonna exept that my computer cant handle vr
damn this makes me wanna play vr again, played it pretty much everyday for a decent few years, until there was no one but me left in my friends group that cared or had passion for it anymore. after that i kinda just fell out of rhythm and never really touched it much at all.
I'm sure that the cancellation of your Japan trip was devastating, I can't imagine how you truly felt after a life-changing experience like that was sniped from you. Keep up the good work, I've really enjoyed your videos. Do you have any advice for meeting friend groups on VRChat?
I’ve been through many of them as most people in VRChat will come and go. I meet them by luck and being myself. I challenge a lot of mirror dwellers to fight me in a friendly sparring match a lot, that’s how I met my current friend group 😊
Just talk to everyone. You will click with someone at some point, trust me. Checklist: Be yourself Express yourself Add person Add person on discord Get invited to discors server Play game with people from server Stonks
Just jump world to world repeatedly until u find people u vibe with , try not to join big groups cus they will already have friendship groups formed. Find people make convo and boom! u will click with some :D boom friends
I met my first friends from VRChat just in the Discord of the streamer, and then it became the Discord of our group of friends, and many of them also stream once, of course they rarely have more than 30 viewers, but we sit on each other's stream and communicate and sometimes we all get together(although everyone rarely comes, there are more than 30 of us)
Dang, bro. The grind that you went through, massive respect to you. I'm genuinely happy that you are where you are now! Also, these kinds of long videos, are truly binge worthy. I hope to see more from you!
I've been interested in VR since I was about 12 when I first heard of it, but now, at 17 I finally own one. It's really like a childhood dream come true every time I put it on.
100%, even my cheap Dell WMR (Windows Mixed Reality) headset has let me have so much fun, including expiriancing Halflife Alyx which is still incredibly fun to replay especially with mods. I'm planning to save for a Valve Index as my upgrade, since my PC is plenty powerful, the only thing making me really hesitate are all the rumours about the Valve deckard / Index 2, I guess if that gets announced before I'm ready to get the Index then I'll just wait, since my WMR headset will keep working in the meantime
Hey man i have the same gpu and my quest 1 is hopefully arriving soon, How many frames do you get on vrc, bonerworks, and half life: alyx? Also what headset?
@@Birb- I went from a 1060 3gb to 3060 in December it's a great upgrade. I actually get 90hz doing quest 2 over link at around the native panel resolution. I will say though I've been traveling the past couple of days and only have my laptop. I somehow got a stable 72hz on the 1050 in that thing. Using FSR i even get a decently stable 60hz in one of the vket 6 worlds. Resolution is terrible but frame rate is more stable than on my 1060.
It's actually very interesting to see what people go through to actually get into the VR craze. I remember myself when I had actually worked a part-time job at a construction site just to get a Valve Index. Yeah, I never got enough for it, and I'm sort of glad I actually didn't. I never realized that, I actually didn't have room in my apartment for an Index Setup. But, instead, fortunately, the Quest 2 was released sometime later, but through a retailer since my country didn't get shipping from Oculus. So, I got it, and it honestly feels so much better to play on, through Remote Desktop, as I wasn't hooked up to any wires and I didn't need to break my head over the base stations. Well. Either way. Although I only joined in watching this channel recently, I can really say that you're putting a lot of effort into them. And the result always ends up being great. Keep up the good work!
@@xatoor Exculsives are nothing new and you're just missing out on yourself. I heavily doubt they'll be out of business because you decided not to buy one, Yes I want everyone to experience it, but people are already finding ways to play it on other devices I'm pretty sure.
Loved the video man! My mom got us a quest 2 and I’m close to start working for a better pc so I can link a lot better, I know it will take forever to get but hearing your story has reminded me that working hard for something while tiring can be just as fulfilling
Daym man, mad respects to you. I've also dreamt about going to Japan and throughout the video, I felt like I was on an adventure with you, closer and closer to getting to Japan. You are a really underrated RU-vidr and I only wish the best things for you and I hope you get to go to Japan next year. Keep the grind going bro
You mentioned about how you should upgrade your PC before playing. But honestly it doesn't take much to play! I've still got my GTX 970, I7-4770k and 16gb of RAM PC that I built back in 2014 and i've played the likes of VRCHAT, Half Life Alyx and many many more without problems. I get the occasional crash but the FPS has always been surprisingly decent. Just thought i'd comment this if anyone is interested in getting a headset. You don't need a 3090 or anything haha. Anyways, great video twice! Very entertaining.
Thank you for sharing your journey. I also missed out on high school senior events due to covid last year. I've been seeing your videos recommended to me recently and decided to start watching. I really enjoy your videos!
HOLY SHIIIII WE HAVE PRETTY MUCH THE SAME JOURNEEEY i also had a google cardboard, no money, was also 13, tried out in a mall with family, then with a friend, then made up for a vive and had terrible fps (with a laptop 1060) for 2 years and now got a job!!
"I highly recommend you dont do vr until you have a PC that can handle it. don't go through what I went through." me getting 20-40 fps in vrchat: well damn.
in the beginning of the year I was at a arcade type of place and they had a beatsaber kiosk, I never tried vr before but after I played I was hooked I got a oculus quest 2 for my birthday a couple months after
I'm really hoping to get into VR myself. I'm just waiting fot the hardware to become affordable cause stuff here is ridiculously overpriced, about two to three times the original price. (700 USD for a 64gb Quest 2)
Damn i am lucky as fck, basically i had an valve index when i was 17 and a powerful computer since i was like 13 as well and was doing a part time job for like only 2 weeks because the majority of the money came from my parents. Never thought about it how lucky i was.
Is it worth getting a job senior year? Ive been debating this for a while, Ive just hit senior year and theres tons of things I need to upgrade on my personal pc, like you I have a oculus rift but stuck with a 1060 3GB. Also was the experience worth it? How did you manage between work and school?
I never planned to get a job during Senior Year until the trip was announced. When I started working, it was ONLY for the trip. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for me. Going to Japan, going to school with my host family, living with them, etc. I had no intentions of upgrading my setup. But since the trip was canceled, I had all that money lying around so I used it for my PC. I’d say the experience was well worth it. I feel like it really toughened me up for the future working all those hours doing a mundane job as a cashier/stocker. Managing between school and work honestly wasn’t too bad. Like I said in the video: After 8 hours of school, I went straight to work for another 8 hours. When I went home, I still had energy and spent that energy playing games with friends, hanging out with family, or doing homework. Overtime it DID start to wear on me. One week we were a bit understaffed so I had to take over which resulted in me working 5 days in a row one time. My friends even told me “Dude all you do is go to school and then go to work.” and I was like “yeah.”
Unfortunately, I'm under the curse of 1050Ti too right now. There is absolutely no way to get a nice GPU for a good price lately. Which is sad because I just got a Quest with a link cable :(
Oooo! Its the song eckharts ladder uses! I loooooove that song! What a great suggestion! This video was so adooooorable and hilarious 😂🥰 the editing and skits were SO GOOD!! I kinda wish that for videos like this you could add reactions to specific chapters for longer story videos. I feel like we should be able to show how we feel about each segment rather then just a blanket comment that cant cover everything we loved about the video.
guys ive been wanting to play vr and pc gaming for years and now i might FINALLYY score a job at mcdonalds and ima go on a grind to buy a super awesome pc and headset!!
So young yet so mature. The grind was real and even me with enough funds to buy an Index ("which I think I really want now") I bought a Quest 2 to get my feet wet in VR. So far it's been an okay experience. I just don't know how to enjoy most of the experiences. Hence the reason I went with a Quest 2 to start off with. But, anyways.... I'm here and I like your channel. Thanks for sharing your adventures in VR. ❤️
This is actually super inspiring. Got my first job recently, been borrowing my uncle’s Vr for a while. I’m saving up for college and musical stuff but if I can work more maybe I can get a better pc and my own headset. Awesome video man!
I want vr so bad but i got 0 pc and no vr headset i'm working i get money but i still have to give some to my mom because she helped me buy a vehicle to go to work so it won't be prob before multiple months before i get a pc.
This video was inspiring, and funny all in one. Even with you being older to me by a year, it reminds me of my own grind to get my current setup that i love. Keep gaming
You inspired me to get a pc and save my money for an oculus quest 2, I’m almost halfway to getting a quest 2. Thank you and keep making vids mg your super underrated.
