looks so easy but when I do it, it's a complete nightmare. The axle doesn't come out that easy. It took me almost a hour of hitting the axle to come out and that is after using a spray to loosen tight nuts. Also fire ants decided to move in on my location and a storm came by. So after I was done I was too tired and forgot to crimp the nut. I still have the other side to do but that is for another day lol

I'm currently having this issue on my 2014 corolla. Axle is seized inside the hub. I'm soaking it in penetrating fluid, but I've been whacking at it all day with no success.

@@kind2311 I recently changed it again because it went bad, thanks amazon part, and i saw someone use a chisel and hammer to push it in. Also I disconnected the whole thing besides the ball joint and whacked it out.

The part in the middle of the cv shaft is a vibration dampener.

Not sure about greasing the c-ring and then inserting into the transmission. Will it contaminate the tranny fluid?

Damn bro, I’m literally moments away from doing this whole job. I’m so glad I saw this comment. I’m totally just gonna spray it with some WD-40 and then wipe the excess off with a towel before I stick it in instead of a big glop of grease

Did transmission fluid not leak out when you took the axle out?
@magiccity954
@magiccity954 Месяц назад
If you lift the side up a bit higher so it's on an angle it won't leak

Mine was ripped, but dirt hadn't destroyed the joint yet, so I packed it and wrapped it with garbage bag plastic and zip-top it to keep out the road dirt, and rain-mud.

It’s safe to drive but will slowly fail overtime but you will see plenty of warning signs before.

Thank you for the video. Can I do this job myself if I know how to do breaks? Never changed one of these out beforr
@mariorodriguez653
@mariorodriguez653 2 года назад
Yeah, you should be able to do this job. You might need the tool to pop the tie rod (you might be able to rent this tool from your local auto parts store) and you may need an axle puller (rent from auto part store as well) but not necessary if you pry it out carefully and are going to replace it anyway.
