In August 2000, the E120 ninth-generation Corolla was introduced in Japan, with edgier styling and more technology to bring the nameplate into the 21st century. This version was sold in Japan, Australasia, Europe and the Middle East.
In mid-2001, the E130 Corolla Altis was released. It had a refreshed look and was slightly longer and wider than the E120 but with similar body panels and interior. The E130 was sold in ASEAN, India, and Taiwan.
The North American release was delayed until March 2002 (for the 2003 model year). The E130 was sold in North America from 2003 to 2008. The E120 continued in parallel in separate markets to the E130.
The station wagon model is called the Corolla Fielder in Japan. Production in Japan ended in January 2007 (for Corolla Runx and Allex),[10] but production in North America continued until October 2007.
Production continued in China as the Corolla EX until February 2017.
Japan (E140 narrow; 2006-2012)
The tenth generation of the E140 Corolla was introduced in October 2006. Japanese markets called the sedan Corolla Axio. The station wagon retained the Corolla Fielder name.
International (E140/E150 wide; 2006-present)
For international markets, a wider version of the E140 was sold with different styling, with the ASEAN and Taiwanese markets retaining the Corolla Altis branding. Production continued from June 2014 until present in South Africa as the entry level Corolla Quest.

Just did this today and because of this video it was so much easier. The tip to use that castle nut as a sort of an anvil was a great tip. Took me and my dad maybe half an hour get it done. I've got an 07 Corolla S with 260,000 miles on it

Very helpful! I'm having nightmare of a time getting the new passenger side cv axle in my 2005 Matrix. I've used all the tricks; making sure the retainer clip gap is facing 12 o'clock, used some grease. wiggled, pushed bonked for the better part of a day. Driver side went in easily.

Nice video. I just replaced mine today. You do not have to remove the steering tie rod end. I was unable to use the screwdriver to pull the axle. I had to rent a puller from O'Reily's Auto Parts. The puller rental was $65. After using it I was given a full refund.

I dont ever recommend but if you ever need to hit a castle nut on anything screw it on upside down so you dont damage the divots on the nut and make sure its even with the bolt.

I've heard that a lot of those after market are made of very poor quality and don't work well. Is there one brand, or a place to buy, that you recommend? Thank you, in advance for your response.

The factory service manual says to drain the fluid, but it isn't necessary as long as you have just a few ounces of ATF to top it off if necessary. The FSM often says to do things that just don't make sense and which many pro mechanics ignore because they know a better way.

@bundysgarage

No, it’s does not mess with the alignment at all. But if it pulls to the left or right when driving or when you brake, you should get an alignment.
@ljguy300

@@bundysgarage alignment has no affect on braking. If youre pulling to a side when you brake, the issue is in the brake system not steering system.

Calls a tie rod a ball joint. Smdh
@the_kombinator
@the_kombinator 2 года назад
PIN THIS COMMENT - IT"LL SAVE YOU TIME. So it is entirely possible to do a side in 45 mins without touching the balljoints or tierods, period. Essentially lift up the car after loosening the lugs and CV shaft bolt, turn the wheel all the way to the left (driver side axle), remove the bolt holding the brake flexhose (if you don't, the hub will rest on the flexhose when unbolted from the strut), then remove the two large bolts holding the hub to the strut. You may have to move the steering wheel a bit to get the right angle, but the shaft will pop out and in with little effort. I wasted the most time (about 10-15 mins) getting the trans side of the CV shaft out, it looks easier on the passenger side. This way you don't have to worry about potentially impacting your steering geometry.

2006 Toyota Corolla CE. After I purchased the car I discovered it has 100k more miles than advertised for a total of 234k miles. I paid $2250 for the car & 2k in repairs (4 new tires, new shocks, alignment, back windshield). I have seen myself that the car needs new cv axles bc the rubber boots are torn and leaking. The undercarriage between the axles has a great deal of old oil and dirt, so mechanic suggested it might be a gasket to the oil pan (?) also a gasket where the axles goes into the transmission (?). Test showed car engine has good compression. No check engine lights. No codes with OBD2 reader. Should i continue to repair this car or is it too worn with high mileage?
