Toyota has UPDATED the page since the release of this video. Now all manual transmission 4th gens are being reported as 228hp and 243 lb -ft. Alot less power than the 3rd gen manual. lol
I guess they did it to encourage higher trim level sales. It would be cool if it is HP tuner compatible so you can unlock what they locked behind a virtual wall for more money. This reminds me when they were going to make a subscription service to the already bought and paid for remote start system.
I think what you said about it being a fleet vehicle is spot on. I know that Ford commercial trucks do EXACTLY the same thing. Their plain white work trucks are always rated lower than a dressed up Ford truck. I don't know if GM or Dodge does that too, but I do know Ford does that.
If I'm not mistaken there was some little things that's different between the underpowered and regular power tacomas I'll have to look up the video I think it was on TFL truck... BTW do you have the OTT tune on your Tacoma? Look into it if you don't you would be extremely happy & it won't void your warranty because they don't even know it's there. I have the off-road manual & it drives so much better my goodness
Its not just the tune. The cooling for the Turbo charger is different. There is something missing. Sorry but i cant remeber exactly what is missing but the info is out there
I really think the new Tacoma is is just the 4 runner with a bed. My wife has a 2023 rav 4 hybrid I my self not impressed with the get up and go on that. Some how I don’t think the new Tacoma 4cyl is going to be all that much better. As we all know with turbo’s comes problems. I have the 3rd gen Trd pro I don’t think I will be replacing that with the new Tacoma any time soon.
Once again it boils down to what you want for your money. If you are going to build the truck it is nice to see the lower trim level being offered with a manual. As for the horsepower, as long as the same turbo is used there won't be an issue getting the SR to the same power levels as the other trims. Who's going to make out on this deal? The tuning gurus, that's who. Turbos bring allot to the table as far as aftermarket adjustability.
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Yj9ltw2N6Vc.htmlsi=f0-qdKG6eLV3RwCH 9:35 tells the difference. Its not just a tune. Oil cooler is missing and exhaust changes
I would really like to know if it's a cooler on the automatic transmission or for the engine. When you check the price, the Auto SR is the same as the manual but the manual gets the power bump at no cost. Thanks for the link.
This is nothing new. I have a m2c and BMW detuned the engine so it wouldn't be faster than its big more expensive brother (m4). Simple tune fixes that problem I'm sure it will be the same case with the SR Toyotas.
