hey man, great video. Heres my question, I use 14mbps internet connection. I play a lot of online games and my current router has become too old to handle it. Is this router gonna be ok as an upgrade. As I want to use the lan port to connect to the pc directly. does that 100 megabits create any bottleneck or will it be ok. I do have plans to go 25mbps in the future. So, all in all is this a right choice? thank u.

Thanks for sharing this detailed Review. I've purchased it recently. The problem is my smartphone can't get the Wi-Fi devices list around me, hence unable to connect with the hidden SSID. I've used the wizard to set up quickly Wireless Router option. What might be the problem here? I've disabled MAC or any other filtering. Made SSID as visible. I used those features in my previous ADSL device. Are you using these now?

New versions doesn't have wireless on/off button, right? Btw, according to DD-WRT homepage, the version 6 it doesn't support dd-wrt firmware.

Hello there, I just set up one of these routers today. And I speed tested it and the results were less than 10mbps! I know it can be faster than this because my old 5 to 6 year old router can even get at least 40mbps. Is there somethin I need to change in the setting or something

Just bought the TP-LINK TL-WR940N for £15 second hand, planning on installing dd-wrt on it & using it as an extender with a 50meters cat5e cable, will this give me close to the same speed as my main router? my main router I can get upto 200mbps

thanks for posting this, very informative and i have done exactly as your video as i left my 2 routers as default SSID. i have a question although its not related to this topic directly. perhaps a future video topic maybe what's a good router to use that has the following functions - Parental controls (limit children's activity by both hours or content) - can see what sites are being visited at the router level (some kind of website address activity log) is a netgear nighthawk one to consider?

I don't use those features but most routers at this point have them as well as a logging feature on some. I will need to research this further. What if you already have a really slow WiFi router 😩 would it help with gaming if you have another router like this one specifically for gaming?

In networking you are only as fast as your slowest connection from the client to the server. If you are still going through the slow WIFI router then speed will not be enhanced. I would upgrade the WIFI router if possible otherwise it will always be the bottleneck. Thanks.

Hi sir I have this router connected to my main router. Im planning to place this 2nd router to my neighbor so I can share my internet but if I switch to AP mode then the bandwidth control and guest network is no longer available. I would really like to limit their speed.

I just don't get it. If I pay for 100 MB, I have this exact router. Why can't my wifi speeds match my real internet speed? The most I get is 50MB even if it is the only device, and right next to it. Please help.

I get a solid 80-90mbps on mine through WIFI and I get 118mbps straight through the modem. Test your Internet connection using this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Z17bLYCAo0w.html You may not be getting the full Internet speed from your provider. I have a modem that functions as a router, I connected my main router to said modem, and a second reouter to the modem as well. I turned off wireless signal from my modem, with the intent of using both mentioned routers only.

Yes it will work with your Internet speed but I would recommend strongly going to a 1GB/s router to maximize what you are paying for. The WR940N router will not give you all the speed you are paying for. Spend a bit extra and go to the next level. I recommend that you use at least the TP-Link AC900 Gigabit Router At Amazon: amzn.to/2X5MEov Or eBay: goo.gl/wrGJ8W If you want a great experience get a TP-Link AC1900 At Amazon: amzn.to/2DK3JvI or eBay: goo.gl/7TbH6T This is the router I use and it has been rock solid for me.

Yes, it's still a very good and economical single band router (2.4Ghz) with only one caveat, If you have a faster than 100Mbps internet connection do not buy this router as it only has 100Mbps ports so any extra speed you have OVER 100Mbps on your internet connection would not reach your network clients. Consider this router instead on Amazon(paid) TP-Link AC1200 Gigabit WiFi Router: amzn.to/3NKsHNA If you have a higher than 100Mbps Internet connection the linked router will deliver that speed to your network clients. This router is a lie. if you have a plan greater than 100mbps you will only get 100mbps or less. confirmed from experience and talking with someone from tp link. why it says 450 i have no idea
