Howdy everyone!
Back from a little vacation and ready to hit the ground running. This was a video I shot a couple of weeks ago and never had a chance to get it out. I got ahold of this MDT XRS Chassis after my last NRL match and had a week to play around with it and do this review.
Suffice to say, I am impressed. I know there are some cheaper enter level chassis out there and I have messed with most of them. There are none that come close to this. If you are looking to build a budget competition rifle or even a mid weight hunting rifle, look no further.
I'm now fully operational and accepting all custom rifle builds. Shoot me an email if you want something built!
Thanks!
-TPM

Does the "drop down" in front of the magazine well act as a barricade stop? Can the cheek piece be adjusted side-to-side?
@triggeredprecisionmachinellc
Yessir, that nub you see in front of the mag well does act as a barricade stop. I typically use the shorter stops like that just to prevent pressure form being exerted on the mag during a match. I prefer my barricade stops a bit longer than that one. The longer ones that don't protrude past my mag seem to work better when you are running a barricade bag like the game changer. I only played around with the up / down adjustment of the cheek piece so I cannot say for sure that it has a side to side adjustment. The cursory glance at the details on MDT's website didn't mention anything either.

Hi from Australia. I have been watching a lot of reviews on RU-vid on both the KRG Bravo and MDT XRS chassis. I think overall I prefer the MDT for my heavy barrelled Howa 1500 in .223. They both sell for around $650-$700 Aust. depending on the retailer. Can't wait to get mine.

Welcome to the channel! I just bought XRS chassis' for two customers and I grabbed one for myself. I think you will be very happy with that choice!

I love my MDT XRS Chassis, I have one in my 6.5 WSM.
@triggeredprecisionmachinellc
Man, you could probably tell in the video but I was genuinely impressed. I had low expectations and ended up really liking the chassis. I' wish they made one inletted for a 10/22. Be a cool stock for a Kidd or Volquartsen build.

What arca rail do you have on the chassis and what is the length. Thanks

That is a 12.5" universal fit ARCA rail from Sawtooth Rifles.

I’m planning on getting a chassis for a heavy barrel .223 , I have been looking at KRG Bravo, seems to be a solid setup for $400 , is this truly worth the extra $100+ ? KRG is also made in USA ,I prefer to support our country, but if MTD is a better product that’s the one I want , what do you think is better on this than the bravo ? Good video, thanks .👍🏼🇺🇸
@triggeredprecisionmachinellc
Thats a great chassis to compare to the MDT XRS. I've had quite a bit of experience with the KRG Bravo and while I think its a nice chassis, I personally think the MDT XRS is nicer. With the Bravo, there are quite a few options available like the enclosed fore end, tool-less length of pull assembly, and a few other items which run the price up quite a bit. The XRS just feels more "solid" to me and having the barricade stop in front of the mag on the XRS is a nice added feature. Also, the XRS comes from the factory with MLOK slots on the bottom and sides of the fore end. This allows you to throw an ARCA rail on the bottom and MLOK weights along the sides to balance the stock for comp use. In the end, the two chassis options are very similar, both have great ergonomics, and both are similarly priced. I was very impressed with the XRS, whereas with the Bravo, it felt like what I paid for it and did very little to impress. I hope that helps, let me know if you decide to go the MDT route, I can help with that. -Shawn

Shawn I really appreciate your response, I’ll email you tell you what I’m shooting and we’ll see what you can do for me, MDT made in Canada?
@triggeredprecisionmachinellc
No problem! I know MDT was founded in Canada and they have a location in Washington, but I'm not sure where the products are made.

I have the Bravo....LOVE LOVE LOVE it. AND, you can find them around $300 on the Hide. I have not tried the XRS simply because it was not available in Lefty yet and was more than $100 more.
@triggeredprecisionmachinellc
Ya, I have buddies who shoot them and love them. There really isn’t anything about the Bravo that is a show stopper at all. It’s a great option for a more budget approach to a rifle build. I wish I had one available to compare to the MDT.

At what point do these GunStocks stop being "stocks" and become "chassis" ? I have the Cadex Strike Nuke and refer to it as a "modified stock".
@triggeredprecisionmachinellc
Hmmmm. Interesting. For me, it becomes a chassis when the form factor departs the traditional stock form and becomes something "universal" or is made from mostly metal.
@DLN-ix6vf
@DLN-ix6vf Год назад
@@triggeredprecisionmachinellc MDT are 100% metal therefore I would say a Chassis but Cadex are a plastic stock with a metal insert located inside the stock running from the butt to in front of the action. No-one has the answer to that one not even Cadex people which I have asked. Problem is how long and wide does that metal insert have to be so someone would call it a Chassis. Personally 100% metal = Chassis. Plastic with metal insert = Modified Stock. No metal insert = Stock
