I was glad to find this vid. I thought my tps had a problem. When doing adjustment the rpm jumps from 950 to 1200 rpm. I ordered a new one. I also realized there was water in the tank. This combo is detrimental to adjusting idle let me tell ya.

Thanks for your response, You're right about TPS in that model, now is working fine. The issue remains with the KS. It is broken, I'll replace it as soon as possible, but remember that i dimensioned i replaced O2 sensor? Well according the instructions of the new one: "black wire is SIGNAL and white (2) are Heather's"for Subaru: White=Signal, Red=Pos. Heater and Black=Neg. Heater. I did mine wrong, I noticed when I ran the scan that it always at 2.55V all the time. Now is better, no hesitation :)

@SubaruB4RSK Fantastic, see I love it when people agree and disagree. That's why I love to answer all our comments. It makes us better. We spend many hours developing our products for the market as well as for this free channel. Often we pilot out new releases right here. Thanks so much for posting.

Hello, thanks for your video, very informative. I got a Subaru legacy 1991... it is a long journey (a friend of mine gave it to me) first i noticed it wasn't burning the gas properly i suspected the Oxygen sensor (I replaced it) and no more smell of gas unburned at the exhaust yeah! But Next day, it started to hesitate at 2000-3000 rpm's I though " the Oxygen sensor is wrong" so I ran a scan to the ECM and i had that sensor bad (oxygen), but also the TPS had an issue, I cleaned i put it back on

The TPS in 91 was not a drive by wire. Those are the only ones that had the sensor readings backwards and they're also dual sensors. But I don't remember the arrangement that year exactly. On a Subaru the knock sensor most likely has a huge effect in timing. Disconnecting the KS will NOT FIX the issue, only make it worse. Some ECMs strategies give the KS less importance. These strategies are not published. Look into the KS issue or replace it. Leave the possible TPS issue for after, it needed.

Remove display and check power an ground first. Then reconnect display and start checking trace or PC boars. Look for broken traces or burnt spots. Good luck.

That's normal yes, but you should build a library of good known waveforms.

Yes, don't take your car to this shop ever again. It runs fine because they erase the KAM adaptive memory when they clear the codes. More than likely your issue is not the TPS as they rarely go bad. Also when the TPS goes bad it develops a small blind spot, not necessarily to do with the idle, even if it's a drive-by-wire system. Post back with year, make and model.

i have a 2008 altima that has a throttle position of 4.6% at idle. Is that normal or is there a problem? Whats the normal range of percent for this?

Continuation... according Haynes manual at 0% closing of the throttle it should be 0.5-1.0 volts and 100% 4.5-5.0 volts. Same like your video, but the TPS in my car is backwards (5 V - 0% close, 0.5 100%) Do you think it is OK to be that way? But wait there is more. it have an other code (Knock sensor) so it took it off and it is all cracked it seems really bad. ( i saw your other video regarding knock sensor) It had some backfiring problems before. i fixed that. Please give me your opinion.Thks

I have 87 Cadillac El Dorado Biarritz and the mph/insrument panel is not displaying any information. It worked fine for 2 years and it just stopped displaying. I know this is off the topic of tps but do you have any information on this. I have checked cps and it seems fine.

Ok, be careful when wiring the O2 sensor. I assume that your O2 sensor did not came with the original connector and you're splicing the wires together. DANGER: If you wire the O2 sensor wrong you could feed 12 volts (heater) to the wrong circuit and damage the O2 sensor. As far as the hesitation, replace the KS asap and you'll like the results. Good luck and post back with the results...
