I can’t tell you how much I needed this pep talk. I am on Day 4 of metamorphosis and i am really starting to dread dance cardio. After today’s workout and searched you tube for some alternatives and found this video. You have encouraged me to keep going- and to maybe not be so hard on myself to follow it exactly (because I can’t). I believe in the TA Method and I believe it will give me the results I want- I just need to be more realistic in my expectations of myself.
So glad you found it helpful!!! As you can tell in some of my other videos, I find that my expectations for myself are changing all of the time. It’s such a journey. I know there will be times when I get bored of TAM and need to try something else for a while, or times I want to amp it up. Regardless, accepting where I’m at makes the process that much more enjoyable ❤️. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Lights me up to know that these videos can help!
Man, I am loving dance cardio. Definitely do it first and then mat work. Reminds me of aerobics routine I used to do in a class back in the 90s with great results. It is fun
Rachel....I am so happy to see even your older videos......so authentic and motivational....I am 68 and still do cardio dance modified....minimum jumping. I have intermittent piriformis syndrome....walking and running are a thing I loved as a younger woman....... cardio dance is pain free💖💖💖🎈🎈🎈
@dianablue-sky5265 I'm turning 60 on Friday and returning to Meta after a few years of streaming to save $$ and return to basics! Here's to us and learning from a younger woman!
I tried dance cardio 2 different times. I didn’t make it past the first 5 minutes. I thought it was boring. I think I’ll give it one more try with a great playlist, and force myself to finish. Just to see how it feels. I definitely have to do the muscular structure first, then I run or bike. I feel like the muscular structure is the hardest part of my workout. Love it though. Thanks Rachel!
About once a week I do a full hour of DC with an old playlist of Tracy’s. Lots of Van Halen and super fun music. I feel high as hell afterward. I use a large mat on the floor and it’s just awesome. Major results in legs and core.
@@RundownwithRachel so, I really don’t follow a “prescription” as it were with TA. I love it so I naturally want to do my workout every morning. If I feel like only doing DC, great. If I am feeling more chill and want to hit the mat and have more of an intense personal experience, I hit the mat. It’s all good for you. Personally, I wouldn’t do DC more than 4x weekly. My knees and calves become steel inflamed rods if I do.
I'm starting to add dance cardio back in, thanks for the inspiration Rachel. This winter I just didn't feel cardio dance but I know my results stalled because of it. Like you, I used to love HIIT but found it an unnecessary strain and a bit bulking. So this Spring, I'm recommitting to the dance cardio. I found that today (first day back) I did a so-so job of dance cardio but still torched 230 cals (at heartrate of 125-130, I'm 125 lbs) in 30 minutes and honestly, I stopped to catch my breath a few times, did some step-touching, took a sip of green tea, etc., LOL!! Full disclosure, I'm in the 45+ crowd and I'm getting more results with Tracey's method and cleanish (I'm not perfect lol) eating than I ever did before with weight training, boot camp, HIIT, etc. I think dance cardio is going to up my game big time. I agree that it's a quick way to burn calories. Also, totally agree that caffeine helps and freestyling when you need to. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens if I keep this up!
Today I WAS NOT FEELING the dance cardio. I think we all have those days. Somehow I ended up being able to get into the music and stop watching the clock. That’s something I should have mentioned that can make it more painful than it needs to be - fixating on how much longer I have to go. I’m right there with you in the “cleanish eating.” That’s another big thing that has helped me so much - not making food such a big deal. Aiming for clean but eating the dang cookie if I really want it! Ha. So glad you are finding good results with this, too.
I also love DC! To avoid getting bored with the same dance during 90 days (I'm on metamorphosis) I switch it up with some of her dance cardio DVDs every 10 days. I have the TAVA Dance party, the Dance cardio express, and the Dance + cardio. Within the 3 DVDs, there are 6 30 minutes workout possibilities. It's a great way to spice it up and I love the challenge of learning the choreography. I'm not a good dancer, but I don't care! I'm getting better at it and the most important is that I see results. Dance cardio really is a game-changer! Thanks, Rachel for another great video!
Thank you, Gabrielle! This is a great reminder to expand my horizons! I was watching one of the TAMily videos on RU-vid and they were talking about these dvd collections. Looks like I can download them from the TA website which is so encouraging! Really appreciate you!
I have finished metamorphosis and am starting continuity. I have failed miserably with dance cardio. 8 have worked out for 30 years and it was the hardest thing to follow. I am trying the cardio 2 with the breakdown to see if it makes it doable Love your content love your honesty on products and workouts. Keep them coming!
So proud of you for moving on to Continuity! TA is a completely different language isn’t it??? Please let me know what you think. I’ve considered trying that out as an alternative to Online Studio!
She also has shorter, 15 minute dance videos. I have started doing those throughout the day when I don’t have time for the full 30 minute dance cardio workout.
Hi, Rachel! Thank you so much for your updates with the Tracy method! I've been doing the muscular structure section for weeks (I tried the cardio once, at the beginning, but I found it too intense). However after watching your video today, I gave it another try, and I loved it. Thanks for sharing your experience and your motivation!
You may want to look into rebounding as an option! It’s basically dance cardio on a mini trampoline. It’s much easier on your joints and has a long list of health benefits! I have a video on that too 💜
I would recommend doing rebounder pre-MS and DC after. In the studio that’s how it was done. Also, your legs feel light as air after the ankle weights are off. The dancing releases the contractions you created during MS
Which studio did you go to? I didn't realize they did rebounding in class - that's awesome! How long would you do the rebounder? Thats a kick in the arse workout!
@@RundownwithRachel I went to a vitality week in water mill ... 4 years ago? The rebounder i started about 8 years ago after surgery on my knee to help balance on advice from physical therapist. No, there was no rebounder in the TA studio.
So excited to put the rebounder video together. It really is such a fun piece of equipment! This video includes a lot of great tips for dance cardio that I wasn’t even aware of which may help too (switching up shoes, using your core when jumping to protect joints and more). m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Yzta969kvm8.html
Thanks for the video! I actually started Meta. I started with 30 min of cardio but it was too much for my joints so now I do 20 min (probably will increase with times). I also changed to do muscular first when I feel like my knees are very weak to dance. Freestyling is key! I also forget about the video but it helps you moving forward and as a company.
Was just watching this video - of the “TAMer” Loretta recommending to change up shoes m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Yzta969kvm8.html - which I will probably start doing. Apparently it’s a great practice for runners too! She also talked about the importance of using your core when you jump to avoid joint pain. Only listened to half so far and many great tips. Totally agree - the video keeps me company! Lord knows I would give up much too soon if it wasn’t there.
I was bored with it too initially. Really taking the pressure off myself to follow the movements has made it so much more enjoyable. Especially when you have a good playlist. It becomes so much more enjoyable.
Hi Rachel, I like your reminder on the BS detector!! :D I'm going to give a try.... I agree, if ur health is important to you, you will make time for it! We are all here, because we are searching for something that helps us become healthier an d looking better.... I'll most likely do it a few times and them on to my own free style! Thanks Rachel!
So excited to hear how it goes for you! The free styling really helps to take the pressure off. Also, spend sometime putting together a fun playlist. The music is key!
Hi Rachel! There are a few different dance cardio, which one would you recommend? Or maybe switch every 10 days as meta muscular routines? Or just stick to one? I really appreciate you take the time to make our TA journey much easier.
Hey Yayita! I’ve gotta tell ya - I’ve been sticking to the same March 2021 video on the TA online studio, but there are so many other versions I should explore. Because I’ve been doing my “freestyle” - following the same video has not been boring to me - which is why I have been sticking to that one. That’s a great idea to switch every 10 days along with the muscular structure. Sounds like a great refresh at once!
Hey Rachel, thanks so much for this video!! Do you still walk? Like with the intention of getting in more cardo or now that you do dance cardio, if you do still walk is it just for leisure?
Hey Tiffnee! I haven’t been walking as much but only because my schedule has been challenging. There are definitely days I will opt for walking over dance cardio. It is SO UNDERRATED and is really what got me on the TAM journey in the first place!
@@RundownwithRachel Right! I love walking because of the sunshine and fresh air! Like you said it is a bigger time commitment so I am excited to really dive into dance cardio more.
Crazy, but I have been waiting for this update from you, and that is because I know I need to do it! Of course, it works, and it so bizarre how you start to look forward to doing the method, and when i can't, I get frustrated, and before, i would be secretly happy that I couldn't work out. Have you tried the DC with Tracy? It seems to be more of a routine and lesson. I am kind of confused.
Hey Sabrina! This is such an overdue response! Lately, I have been following the OG Dance Cardio from metamorphosis - simply because its easy to follow. I haven't done the tracy dc on the online studio - only the ones by her trainers.
I dropped off the dance cardio years ago...and I walk alot...but have to say in the elective content there is a choreographer called Ski...i love it. Proper Justin timberlake style dance but easy. I guess at minimum... we could just throw on some tunes and do our own boogie in the kitchen for 15mins each day. Do you think there are any rules to how you move in it? Or maybe just doing a sat night style boogie could work too?
A Trina song once said "Woah, pull over. That ass is too fat" and I felt that. It spoke to my soul in a profound way. Thanks for pulling me over, Rachel.
Hey! I just linked it in the video! Sorry about that. My rebounder has been great but when I got it, it was missing a cord to connect to the mat of the rebounder and I used it just fine for a year. It has since snapped a cord connector and I have been meaning to reach out to the manufacturer for a replacement. The long and short of it is, it’s best to buy a middle of the road rebounder if you want to get a sense for how much you’ll use it. The Bellacor rebounder is apparently the Rolls Royce of rebounders but the cost is difficult to stomach. All that said, there are so many great options out there. I loved mine but still need to get it fixed.
I'm trying on TA method again after years of classic weight lifting and HIIT trainings with aim to debulk my big quads and overall light leanout. Love the muscular structure workouts, but the dance cardio is a struggle for me, soo incredibly boring!!! I hope to fall in love with it soon!
I completely know what you mean! Try experimenting for a week, just do DC 3-4 times, and you may notice feeling and looking more slim - that's how it was for me. And somehow THAT in itself makes it much more fun haha
@@RundownwithRachel I haven't had children either, and I consider my pelvic floor muscles to be actually very strong... I hope to figure out this puzzle one day! As I have to stop and go every 10 minutes to prevent leaks. Which makes me feel like an old grandma, and not a fit and healthy woman of 32!
LMAO.....BS Detector! Going to have to plagiarize that one! Thx for push to try DC. Like you, I’m like meh and I jump on the elliptical for 3 miles. Ok, tomorrow I’ll try it. Just to clarify are you suggesting using the rebounder for DC? I have one and think that may be more fun and easier on my knees. Let me know. Thanks sooooo much for your content!
So glad you can relate to the BS detector 😂 - I’m constantly calling myself out. The verdict is still out on the rebounder - cant say I’m shouting from the rooftops about it just yet. But the fact that you already have it is FANTASTIC! I’ve kind of mixed it into my dance cardio - where I’ll go from the floor to the rebounder - simply because it’s fun and it is SO much easier on the knees. I may even bring it up to my office so that I can get my energy up during the workday. Dance cardio does take some getting used to. Just get a good playlist, and have fun with it - channel your teenage self dancing in your room. It’s crazy how you can work up a sweat and get your heart rate going with it all the while enjoying it!
I prefer Lekfit over TA. The workouts are much more effective for me. I was a member of TA for two days. I took the advanced classes. I used 8 Lb ankle weights. (class recommends 3 Lbs.) I still didn't sweat. Lekfit is Tracey Anderson on steroids.
I really wanted to like these videos but I can’t follow them at all. I started with Catalyst but I just don’t get it. And I’m a dancer! I know a million line dances and all ballroom dances. They jump to a new move too fast and there is no pattern at all....I can never can catch up or catch on. It’s so frustrating.
I totally know what you mean - which is probably why I resort to “free styling” most of the time! I figure I’m getting my heart rate up and seeing the results - so it’s good enough for me!
Hey Montse! There are plenty of times I opt for a different type of cardio in place of the traditional Tracy Anderson dance cardio. My goal is to get my heart rate up and have variety in my moves to prevent bulking - sounds like those are great options!
Thanks for the tip that it is better to do dance first before muscle structure. Just finished 30 minutes of moving to fun music....not sure I would call what I did dancing but I figure if I get better at my 30 minutes of “freestyle dancing”, I can start working on following TA’s CD videos. Now to MS!
Yes! Yes! Yes! 🙌 One of my favorite workout phrases is “the only bad workout is the one you didn’t do!” I tell myself that when I’m not “feeling” dance cardio or muscular structure for that matter. Some days are better than others. Not only is TA a great workout, but it’s taught me so much about pushing through when I don’t feel like it. Especially during muscular structure - when I’m cursing my way through it!
Easy, for beginners. Yikes! It kicked my but. I am in pretty good shape, but hadn't done much, if any, high impact cardio in ages. I might have to try the low impact videos. I felt amazingly great after, but it was so hard to make it through 30 minutes!!!
Haha i should probably take that back! Oddly enough, some days it’s so much harder than others! If you are an online studio member there are AWESOME 15 min options which I’ve been LOVING!
Hey! It definitely gets the job done! I was asking one of the trainers her thoughts and she said they are both great. Her interesting comment is that you’ll notice with low impact you sweat throughout whereas with high impact dance cardio - once you stop it’s like the sweat suddenly hits at once - which has been true for me! I do think that the high impact gives me a better workout because i can feel my DEEP core muscles engaging. But the days where I don’t want to do DC, but know I should - low impact does the trick. So I absolutely do low impact just depends on my mood.
Most days yes. But there are times where I miss a day or two and don't sweat it (huh..huh..). It seems like a LONG time, but I would easily kill 45 min getting ready for and commuting to group fitness classes - only to then do a 40 min class. The more days I complete, the less it feels like 90 min and more like a needed anchor to my day. There are shorter options available in Online Studio - 30 min. muscular structure which can be followed up by 30 min of dance cardio.
@@RundownwithRachel wow, that’s a lot. Great endurance! I’ve exercised all my life and intermediate is kicking my ass. Did you see her after class chat on doing too much exercise though?
@@nae4830 it didn’t seem like too much until this last week where I was tapped out and barely worked out at all. Still finding my middle ground! I started with Fundamental on the online studio, and in my opinion Fundamental is JUST AS HARD as Attain. I did not see that video, is it the Fund after class talk? I’ll check it out!
@@RundownwithRachel still exploring mine as well. Started 6 times a week + dance cardio on day 6, but it was too much. Right now it’s 5 no Dance cardio but miss it. From what everyone says it looks like if I have to choose, it’s mat work. And I have to be so careful or I’ll get hurt, with yesterday’s new workout I hurt my hip 🙄
@@nae4830 That’s so frustrating! I’m sorry to hear that! I’m not ashamed to admit that I prefer Dance Cardio since it is relatively mindless once you get the hang of it!
The dance cardio looks and feels ridiculous. 🤪 I do have a professional dance background though, so maybe that is why I didn't respect it. I think dance needs a knowledge and understanding of the body. It is a practice like Yoga, Martial Arts, etc. I do like the rebounder. I signed on for Lekfit. I dance with CLI Studios. It's available for experienced dancers and beginners. I personally like Contemporary Dance for sweat. There are many styles available, and you won't be laughing at yourself by jumping around like a kangaroo and calling it dance. You will have purpose and control over your body.
