One of, if not the best tutorial for thumb release I've seen. You explained the small details very well.

I like the Korean Rings with the extra tab and use Middle Finger. It works so much better for me.

Often it is the matter of taste and purposes what kind of archery one is practising 👍

Excellent instructions. But when I draw with the thumb on my 50 pound bow, I can really feel the strain on the tendons when trying to pull all the way back to the anchoring point. It doesn't feel safe. So I prefer traditional draw with three fingers. It is slower, but I see no other option. As to release, I think drawing the bow should be part of hitting the target. I release instantly when I reach the anchor point. There is never any pause at the anchor point.

Thank you! Heavier bows are easier to shoot with thumb ring or some protection. Some are able to shoot with bare thumb though. But it requires good technique and lots of practise (first with lighter bows) to get used to it and to get thumb stronger. And it cn be painful at first. 😊

Nice video. What protection for the draw fingers is this on your string?

Hi and thank you. That is my selfmade nocking point+protection combination, Exactly for slavic release but works little bit for thumb also. It is made of tape, deltal floss and some glue. Mihai Cozmei showed that idea for me few years ago and it works. No need to use gloves anynore which makes the arrow handling / nocking much faster. Perhaps i could make little video for that too, as well as my arrow setup. 🤔. Thanks for watching and commenting.

hi sir, i have a question if i use khatra my arrows fly straight but always fly to the left of the target do you have a solution for my problem?
@Trophybow1
@Trophybow1 Год назад
Hi! Thanks for asking. There are many reason what could be the "problem" and it woud be much easier if i could see what is happening when you shoot. Also are you left or right handed is one detail what would help in this matter. But if i assume you are right handed archer and you keep your arrow right side of the bow, and the arrow is not doing any "fish tailing" , then it is not too big problem. In that case i would check your bow hand more closely: Is the force of it going straight to the target during the release and during the follow through? Is your khatra too strong? ( that also can send arrow to the left, specially if you do the side-khatra ). Then if the arrow happends to do even little fish-tail, then it could be so that your arrow is little too weak. But at the end: if you are sure arrows are fine, your bow hand is straight to the bullsyeye before and after release, then just teach your brains to learn where arrows hit. The arrow flight is most important, the the khatra (do it just as strong as needed and that is easy to maintain). The rest is learning where the arrow flyes. I hope this helps you. I have also made a video about khatra. Please check it out if you already haven't. Have a nice day.

@@Trophybow1 thanks for your reply from your answer I assume maybe my khatra is too strong so that is why my arrow always go to the left, it's difficult to control the power if my khatra is not strong enough then my arrow will hit the arrow pass but if my khatra is too strong then my arrow will fly to the left. Yes I already watched your khatra video. Thanks for sharing your knowledges to public.

@@jatisatrio You are wellcome. I am glad to help. I understand your case and i had the same issue. The key for solving the khatra-issue is the grip. Try to take the grip and put the bow in correct position to your hand before you start pulling. Seek the position via follow through: how you want your bow be after the shot, during the follow through. How big "window" you want to see after the shot/khatra? How forward you want to hit your upper limb? Take the grip so that the "window" (the space between the string and the bow) becomes automaticly without twisting your wrist and so that pushing the upper limb towads to the target is as natural as possible. With that grip you will adjust the power of the khatra and repeat it always with same strength. Depending on your arrow spine you do not nesessary need much power - more like tight grip. Just try to make it happend using your grip, not so much via the wrist. I am sure you will find the "sweet spot" for the power of khatra and when you can execute it consistantly, then you have it. Last step is to adjust your brains and eyes so that where look, there your arrows hit.
