You have some figuring out to do now Captain. Now you can’t haul the skidsteer and 304 the same way you did on one of your last videos since the radiator hung over the front toolbox.
Aaron, you sure know how to swing that stick welder. Looks great, before the project gets under way, you better make sure you have some spare coils of wire, gas bottles, welding tips and grinding discs. If you leave it up to DP, he going to forget again.😂😂👍🇦🇺
Mike always does the easiest job and has you do hard work, it always takes a hard working man to make a man who thinks he knows it all me and you know who that is.
7018, most commonly used sticks back when I was welding at C & M Machine Shop welding extremely damaged parts racks and tubs for Buick and Chevy factories in Flint Michigan. Those union fork truck drivers were hell on them racks and tubes. We mostly used mig welding but sometimes had to resort to stick welding. Ya did a pro job there MTSB. A person would have to thunk your a professional welder. No slacking that day.
Yeah that is our common rod we use I love 7018 I don’t like 8018 and 9018 is ok and 6010 I love to use if I got a spot that I can’t clean I appreciate the comment Ronald thanks for watching 🤙🏻
Stick welding is about all I do, brother got a little cheapo wirefeed which is nice for tacking. Hopefully one day get a tig setup. Glad I'm not the only one who sticks a rod once in awhile.
Once you get a tig rig that will become your new favorite I love tig welding just ain’t always The best choice it’s more of a precise weld thanks for watching 🤙🏻
Way to set the record straight at the end! Mike need to have a little hot air let out of his balloon from time to time, otherwise his big head wouldn't fit through the door!
MBTS , on the inside of the chain box weld a 1/4” x 1”flat bar across the backside of the box to hang the chain hooks on , this will make grabbing the chains out of the box a lot easier
Keep Mike in line and always save some work for him to do . Great welding Arron . Too bad your helper can't keep the supplies in stock that you need to get your job done , but your universal and got'ur done anyway . You just can't get good help now days . I believe I heard a certain person say that on a earlier video I watched today . The leg exercise's added to the video . Great video
@@aaronbummmanbehindthescene4931 I wish I would have exercised like that back when I was working , sure would have helped now with all of my leg problems now the I'm in my early 70s . Take care of your self while your young and it will payoff in your later years . Stay Safe Aaron and keep posting great videos . thanks , Danny Vint
You would think a construction company would have more room for his hired help lol or at least the supplies hint wire for a welder DP walks by every day lol
It must be nice knowing you are better at something than Mr. Dirt Perfect. It can be lonely though at the top. Great job and great video!!! Big fan of The Man Behind The Scene! ...and all the crew at DP.
That was almost mirror welding. Great job Aaron. Even though someone let you down. By not having supplies. You know if your not there to take care of him. He is lost. Lol God bless
Good thing that Mr Dirt Perfect ran out of wire, otherwise you would have gotten 1000 comments about how you can't/shouldn't weld anything other than thin stock with a mig. Of course the people who make that comment have never actually done any welding.
You are correct I could understand if it was a beginner I would make them use stick and only stick then teach them on the mig thanks for watching I appreciate it 🤙🏻
I always remember when a close friend of mine started teaching me to weld. Dumb me he handed me a rod and I tried laying a bead but kept burning the steel. He starting laughing, the bugger had given me burn rod !!! Good friend AH :-)
😂😂😂😂 well the one they got me with was bending rods around my neck to see how tuff I was I thought well this is a cake walk and about that time I felt the flux off the rod go down the crack of my a$$
👍AB any respectful welder knows... After burning a rod, you must take an hour break. It is written in the welders handbook. (In the fine print) buried in all the legal jargon, (you know 🙈 the stuff that everyone reads before they close the deal) .. 🤗🤔🙊🖌️. Come on, man. 👀. Btw I seem to have lost my mittens 😆
Nicely done Aaron! Generally when it comes to important stuff like D-rings I prefer to stick weld them anyway because you can really get some penetration by pushing the rod in on that thick iron.
been using the big mig for equipment repairs last few years then run out of gas... couldn't be bothered with all hassle getting a fresh cylinder with lockdown so switched back to the old 'Oxford oil bath' arc welder and have fell in love with the deeper weld again... but I still hate working upside down!!
@@aaronbummmanbehindthescene4931 that's the truth. If I'm welding structural steel like 100,000 psi steel like on a lowboy trailer I'll just break out the 11018 welding rod, it also works very well for doing hard surfacing. Always enjoy watching your content!
You do some fine welding Aaron.....now to get mike to clean that floor where it’s fit to sit/ work on you will be set for the winter.....love your channel, keep it going......ps. I used to hire a guy like you to do my welding, he was a welder for Vulcan Materials, a big rock quarry down here..
And you are correct finally getting to the big project!! All three trailers are out and back on the road once again Wayne thank you for watching I appreciate it 🤙🏻
Hello, MBTS! Nice to see with the gang. Seen Ck's video on service on truck. So got a preview of that video. Did you post it already? I did subscribe, if you did, I did not see it post? Any way. Like you I use to get all the odd big jobs. One because was the guy for it! Two, was the only one that could do it in a timely manner. Third, do not have to do over, done right first time! So know why you the man behind the scene!
Headache rack Aaron ???? 🤔🧐 Didn't seem to give you too much trouble 😜🤣 We call them headboards on this side of the pond 🇬🇧😂 Hope there will be enough tie down points now, does this mean you are part of the chain gang??? 🤦♂️ Hope you were able to get some more wire and tips for the mig welder, or will you have to use what is left lying around for the stick welder ???
😂😂😂 that’s right!!! I threw that in there to see how many people would notice only a handful of you all noticed 😂😂😂 thanks for watching I appreciate it 🤙🏻
😂😂😂 boy if I could just get to his steel toe when he wasn’t pay attention 😂😂 and yes me and kleeman are going to do a video in the next couple of weeks
Stick digs better than Mig anyways! Any monkey can make a mig weld look nice! But looks are only in the eye of the beholder/owner!!! Strength is more like a gorilla it's a little bit uglier but strong as hell!! TIG is an artistic form of welding and those that do it well, have my absolute respect! And only somebody that knows welding well can understand the leg dance/ balancing act you did on this video... It's all about making sure your body is stable and comfortable to control the bead you're laying!!
Hi Aaron; pretty welds as ALWAYS. what sort of wire apeed voltage /current are you using for your rack fixin?. just curious not having a lot of luck with my MIG.
I found a tip for you on another RU-vid channel if you ever want to do close up shots while you're welding you can tape a auto darkening lens to your go pro you just have to watch that you don't block the mic
welding a few extra D rings dont solve the many needed options for tie downs, that still limits things, never mind the high cost of each 10,000Lbs D ring. never mind, the always rattling of them going down the road, enough to drive you nuts. what i have done for years as a license welder/fabricator.. for over 37 year. with all these crap trailer built using c- channel i take 3 length of 20 foot 3/8x2-1/2" flat bar and and cut peaces of flat bar 1-1/2" long for stand offs. weld stand off to the flat bar every 2 feet, so the flat bar rail is flush with the outer lip of the c- channel if the width of the trailer is already at the max legal width of 102", i welD peaces of the same flat bar on to the main length of flat bar so the rail will be flush with the outer lip of the channel, then once all the stand offs are welded to the flat bat i clamp the rail in place and weld the shot flat bar stand offs to the c- channel, giving you tie downs any were along the full length of the trailer on both side, here my whole sale cost for a 10.000Lb D-ring about $62 cnd each, for the cost of one 10,000 D-ring i can buy 1 and a half lengths of 3/8x2-1/2" flat bar. That is one thing i hate about factory trailers, they build them all out of c- channel witch not very strong so they have to go over size, if you crawl under any factory trailer, you will see, how poorly they are welded, if any weld at all in places, and the tongs are only welded to the front cross channel, witch flexes until it cracks, many have broke right off and the trailer pas you and hits a on coming car or truck, and kills them,, it has happened here a number of times, in fact the one in Aug 2007 was the trailers 3rd trip loaded at 8,7550 GVW since it left the dealers lot.. I HATE TRAILERS BUILT WITH C-CHANNEL AND AUGLE IRON every trailer i custom build all my life, are built out of heavy wall tubing, including cross members thats one thing you dont do here, is put your speed binders out in the open, the road salt would have then rusted solid in know time
@@aaronbummmanbehindthescene4931 talk is cheap, admit it, you just didnt want to do much work lol. ya just wanted to spend a pile of cash on them 10,000b D-rings.. like i said that is the way i do them, no other way.. rattly things
Aaron, better get the wire and tips situation sorted before the project gets started. ;) if you don't get on his case about it early he will blame you if there is a problem.
