So, moving onwards for what is our final of 'All The Manchester Stations' which brings us to the gateway via the Calder Valley of Halifax and onwards to Leeds and across the stunning Pennines to Huddersfield. And this is the second Manchester station that is managed by Northern. This is Manchester Victoria (Season 10 Episode 19)
For the first time since before the 'C' in early 2020, there are now 2 trains per hour operating between Manchester Victoria and Liverpool Lime Street. As per norm, the Nova 1's operate hourly between Newcastle and Liverpool Lime Street and with the introduction of new hourly trains linking Hull to Liverpool Lime Street. The hourly service via Ordsall Chord still runs between Saltburn and Manchester Airport.
We are now seeing more trains running frequently between Stalybridge and Southport which are now slowly being taken over by the bio-diesel class 769 units. As old as they are, the Northern Sprinters class 150 & 156's are still going strong. But, on borrowed time as its heard that Northern are planning to replace them with more CAF units being built.
