You can audibly hear how LOUD the crane is on this one - I had no idea there was a 'memory' in space for boom and cable orientation. Thanks for showing us how pros get 'er done!
That’s why he doesn’t like the headsets. They’re not really great except for hearing if there’s an emergency or something. Totally get best practice is better communication but that’s my mentor on the crane and we be setting units like this on the regular. 👍
Nice work. I commend you for not falling down that roof access, lol. I lay a panel over such when its that close to any unit I’m working on. Thanks for sharing Joe.
Put an earbud in, call crane guy, then you can whisper commands into his ear instead of leaving unit to yell at him. Most crane guys here always have a blue tooth earpiece. Just something I learned doing these alone.
Yeah me and this crane guy do alot together - he’s a service company who owns his own crane. We’ve done earpieces before but this is our preferred way unless the unit is so far from the wall. Normally it’s spot on and all we’re doing is cabling down but I missed dead center on the setup first shot apparently so he had to fix it. 👍. We’ve contemplated putting a drone in the air broadcast to him so he can set units damn near alone
If there’s no reason to replace it then I’m guilty times saves the customer some material costs, but dang it if I’m gonna put an old rust disconnect onto a new shiny unit. 🤩
I've probably done over a hundred RTU replacement in my career. Ain't no way in hell would I ever do one alone. Dude you could have gotten someone off the street and paid him $25 just to relay the instructions to the crane operator.
@@davidnull5590 yessir!! Was doing them to the operator but still saying it also. He made me when he got a crane truck to universalize communication. After the first time of him wondering what broken sign language I was using he printed me the chart and made me test on them. 😂.
That had scratcher I had a while back. Walk in freezer 449a with Copland scroll compressor with liquid injection compressor cooling. Compressor kept overheating and going out on high temp. Acted like a restriction. Conclusion liquid injection cooling system for compressor needs bubbling sight glass if you fill sight glass you are overcharged. Recovered 2 lbs and it is running like it should. Installers might not have needed to put in 3 compressors. 👍🏻
No. My mentor and I are basically corn one man shows, so we double up on these installs. He’s the master I’m just the hired hands 😂. He owns the crane truck so we got the system down to get em pulled and dropped then he packs up the crane and I wire up the unit.
You are going to wait to have an accident, then get an extra guy, that is tight, this business, leaves plenty of money.that unit is over 10 grand, and you cant pay 60 for a helper.
Consider yourself hired 😂. Whats the accident scenario. Minus catastrophic equipment failure we’ve got this dialed in. Only handle straps so never a pinch or crush scenario. We set dozens and dozens of units every year we’re a 2 man show. That is what it is.
