Just some little problems associated with taking testosterone, from the type you might take to obsessing over changes.
No T was harmed in the making of this video...although some hand sanitiser was sacrificed.

Lifetime customer loyalty to Big Pharma and the Medical Industry come at a huge cost and you know it. Taking “T” causes cancer, heart failure, organ and connective tissue calcification and early morbidly in patients with XY chromosomes.

Best changes: facial hair and voice drop. Some upper body build, but, I'm a runner, so it's like trying to put muscles on a gazelle. Worst change: my hair is thinning. I've been doing shots every 2 weeks for coming up 5 years.

What do you think of cis men who absolutely hate having facial hair and want it gone at all costs, but people force them to have it or else somehow- they aren't a man (that they must be gay, not a real man, or a trans woman).

The 'just got into bed and I forgot my gel' struggle is SO REAL. My main other problem is that moment when you tear the sachet in JUST the wrong way so that you can't get it to open any further and then you have to go get scissors instead (which you shOULD know to keep by the sachets now, but for some reason still don't...)

I'm on Depo Testosterone, its injected into the middle of the outside side of your thigh & doesn't hurt that much. You can do it every week or every two weeks (I do it every two weeks). Also you can use a much smaller gauge needle. I recommend it to anyone who prefers shots but not the extremely painful kind in your bum(:

James Brighouse well did you choose a smaller gauge needle? You can use 18 gauge or 22 gauge(: But yes, everyone is different(:
@olivertwisted5542
@olivertwisted5542 7 лет назад
James Brighouse well next time I recommend asking what gauge needle they're using & if its possible to use a smaller gauge. A big gauge needle is going to be really painful & on the other side, if they're using a gauge that's really, really small the T might be too thick for it & that could cause a lot of pain too. I've also found it helpful to use a slightly bigger gauge needle to draw the T into the syringe & then switch to a slightly smaller gauge needle for the injection. Also make sure they're pulling the skin taunt over the injection site, that helps prevent the T migrating from the muscle upp into the skin & flesh, which is usually the cause of extreme pain right after injection. I'm always more comfortable when I know all the details(:

That last skit is such a mood lmao. When I was starting T, they told me to put the gel on one arm, and switch arms every day. But it took both upper arms and even then, it took an hour to dry (the humidity is usually around 10% here). Within two months I was done and switched to injections. Also, my voice started cracking in about three weeks. And I worked at a place that uses custom voice to text, so whenever my programme would get words wrong, I'd know my voice was doing weird shit xD I'm glad my hairline changed. Like. It's such an unexpected relief. It makes me sooo happy. But now I'm scared it's still going and uh. I love my hair.

I have super high natural levels of T, so my voice dropped very quick, and other changes happened quickly as well. I do weekly injections at home. I have had some issues, but nothing major, and most of the time my shot isn't a big deal. My least favorite change is body odor. I did get more acne, but my doctor gave me something for it, and since then it's been good. Oh! and I get overheated quicker now than before. The doctor said it's because T makes your blood thicker. So I had hot flashes a lot when I first started, and now I just overheat more easily. But there's been so many good changes as well. I generally feel more comfortable in my skin, and I have less anxiety about meeting new people, because I rarely have to worry about getting misgendered now.
@SuperKingNerd
@SuperKingNerd 7 лет назад
From what I was told, the heat flashes were mainly due to you basically going through menopause since your entire body is changing. Other guys have told me that the overheating does eventually ease, which is great, but god it's so annoying. LOL.

I'm only on week 3 right now (going on four on sunday) and oh my god the worst thing so far has been the 'male menopause' that apparently a lot of people have gone through. (Some people might not have if they had estrogen blockers before starting.) Heat flashes are the worst and I'm overall /SO/ hot all the time that it gets unbearable.

@SirChubbyBunny
@SirChubbyBunny 7 лет назад
Coming from someone who has a needle phobia and has been doing injectables for two years, they become less intimidating over time. I find doing them subq or into the fat (like your stomach) is easier because the needles are smaller. More power to those who opt for gel, since I canbarely remember to do my shots once a week.
@ryanvale6066
@ryanvale6066 7 лет назад
Unfortunately even if you use gel you'll still need to deal with needles as you'll need blood tests both before and during taking T (sucks, I know, I'm not good with needles either) but you'll never be required to do your own bloods and it's less often than injecting T would be so gel is still better.

What I found hat helps with blood work is having the person walk you through it, so they let know know when they're going to stick you so you don't worry about them just jabbing you. Also, looking away and taking a deep breath before it happens can help.

I'm almost a year on T now and your video made me laugh out loud and was definitely totally relateable to me especially the hair line and acne they both suck very much so. and I was always told not to moan or be upset about the changes and be grateful I'm on T cuz most guys can't ever be on T and as grateful as I am most days the shots I still dread every other week and even though they've gotten better as it's almost been a year they still very much suck especially on my chest and arms (I've not had top surgery yet) and the best change I'd have to say definitely was the voice dropping and the facial hair even though I've always been hairy pre-T :) thanks for making relateable videos!

T gives me so many problems. UTI's galore, Kidney infections, insomnia, etc. -____- Thankfully the needles don't bother me at all, it's just annoying as shit having to stand there for ageeeees when they give nebido. It's actually encouraged to walk around when you've had a shot, as it helps it disperse through the muscle my nurse said. :D The hair thing though....holy shit I am so scared I'll lose my hair. My hairline is masculine as it is D: D: Best way to check your voice is to record your voice each month. I've been doing this and it's so cool to listen to the changes. This has to be my favorite thing, since I've not had many other changes on it. Bit of facial hair, but now I look like a girl with bad facial hair! XD

I took my first T shot today, and was actually surprised by how LITTLE it hurt. Could barely feel it. Though it does seem like I'm doing a much smaller dose of a much thinner liquid with a much smaller needle than you described, so that's probably part of it. How long does facial hair take, on average? What about voice changes? :O I'm keen on the latter, but not on the former, so I'm thinking of taking low-dose T for long enough to lower my voice and then see about tapering off.

I watched this video yesterday, and I thought to myself how lucky I was that my shots have gone really easy. And sure enough, today I was doing the shot and had my first mishap (in five years!). I use two 23g syringes for an IM shot every two weeks, because drawing the T actually dulls the needle, and a fresh one has a cleaner stick. While I was changing the needle on the syringe after drawing, in slipped out of my hands, bounced off my chest and I accidentally stuck myself in the thumb! It went clean through a layer of skin from one side of the joint part of my thumb to the other. I'm glad I have a strong stomach! Also glad it wasn't deep and didn't bleed much. Out of curiosity, are the at-home IM shots an option in the UK? They are quite common in the US.

Random question, do patches take longer to show changes than shots? If so, roughly how much longer?
@BlackZephyr

My first 6 months were on cream and tomorrow marks 1 month since starting (weekly) injections. I absolutely hated the cream. The changes were nearly non-existent and the hassle of putting it on every day drove me insane. Since switching to injections, I feel so much better and have already noticed a handful of changes that were completely lacking in the entire 6 months on the cream. My voice is finally dropping, which was the source of a lot of dysphoria before. The bad is that my face has gotten a lot oiler, but it's worth it. I can't wait for more changes as time goes on. I don't even mind if I have to jab myself in the thigh with a long needle every week to get there.

It wold probably be better to incorporate the gel in your routine, or put and alarm on it at a time you know you can do it. I have health issues and routine and alarms help a lot to keep up to my meds. Some women also take testosterone in smaller doses to improve libido.

Hey Jamie! (Forgive the profile picture from when I was 10 :p its not seeming to want to change)This isn't that trans-related but I was wondering if you could talk about your experiences with stretching your ears! I noticed that you had them in some of your earlier videos. I'm a pre t ftm and I'm stretching my ears, so I'm curious to know how it affects passing and if you regretted the decision.

Change rates vary from person to person, but the way I've heard it, gel/cream works at the same rate as injections.

Does you using gel create issues for Shaaba? For example, does she have to be careful not to touch the areas of skin where you've applied it to avoid her skin absorbing it too? If so, how do you two deal with that? I'm curious about that because I read about that being an issue for couples where the guy was testing a hormonal contraceptive gel/cream for men that is applied to the skin.
@Jammidodger
@Jammidodger 7 лет назад
I'm really careful with applying it only to my upper arms and then having those areas covered for at least 6 hours after application, and I always put it on in the morning. I also wash my hand thoroughly and use a towel that Shaaba doesn't use to dry them. It can be an issue if you're not careful though, and sometimes it's a little annoying, but I've gotten into a routine of being careful with it and it's fine now.

I used to have a fear of needles but then I started t over a year ago and now having to inject myself and frequently check my t levels in my blood It doesn’t even phase me anymore. Everyone is different but I personally want to stick with the shot because it’s only once a week in my thigh rather than a sticky patch putting some shit up my nose or every day putting on gel waiting for it to dry.

SO. RELATABLE. A good thing that happened to me (besides from the obvious like deeper voice and facial hair etc.) I wasn't as scared to open my mouth and talk to strangers, I didn't want to hide as much as I wanted before and overall I feel better about myself. On the more negative note, when I finally started taking t I didn't think about it anymore so my head had more space for other problems. Which was ... not so cool.

Just got a few more doses of shots left, then I'm (hopefully) going to switch to gel- my needle-sticking person is moving and I get physically sick trying to inject myself. Plus, bad batches of (blunt, stingy, burny) needles SUUUUUCK. Anything you'd like to mention about switching to gel that you might not have covered in the video?

Btw, favorite change by far was when I finally (last week) heard my voice after it started to drop. I had a beard prior to my first T shot, but my voice was a dead giveaway. I heard how deep and not-quite majestic I sound now a week ago and I literally cried a little in the office from just happiness. Makes dealing with my only instance of acne 110% worth it.

Biosex male checking in. I'm pretty sure most adult men have some amount of hair in their butt crack. I certainly do. But I think once it finishes growing in, it shouldn't be a big deal. It's probably only irritating because its basically stubble in your butt crack, which of course would be uncomfortable.

Scrub a bit with some honey and sugar or any sort of scrubbing stuff for the face not to harsh and be careful not to put the product to low. But basically just help your skin with the new hairs trying to grow in such a tiny space 😂 rinse well. In short exfoliate the bum lol. You are welcome

Question. Do the T shots HAVE to be injected into the butt? I only ask because I've seen people have it injected into their upper leg before, but that's in America so I'm not sure if it's country specific or if it maybe depends on the type of injectable T you're prescribed.
@alecwinner
@alecwinner 7 лет назад
It probably depends on the type of T you're on, cause I'm on T cypionate and I do thigh injections at home once a fortnight. (In america btw)
@voidallen7030
@voidallen7030 7 лет назад
Thanks, Alec. I might talk to my doctor about maybe being on the type of T that can get injected in the thigh. 'Cause I really wanna go down the injection path, but I don't wanna be stabbed in the butt every three months for the rest of my life. XD
@SuperKingNerd
@SuperKingNerd 7 лет назад
You definitely don't have to do it in the butt and many doctors recommend not doing that because of the nerves that are back there- if you hit it wrong, you could severely mess yourself up, so it's best to just do it in the thigh. (But I'm in America so...)
@SirChubbyBunny
@SirChubbyBunny 7 лет назад
It depends on the kind of injection. IM or intermuscular goes into the muscle; which could be your ass, thigh or arm (though I've heard the arm isn't recommended more because of the risk of severing certain nerves). SubQ or subcutaneous goes into the fat; so this could be the stomach, love handles, butt or thigh if you have more fat there. Also, because you don't need to go as deep with subq, the needles are shorter. I do mine subq, and I switch mine up from my stomach to my sides, and I haven't had any issues at all.

the most annoying thing about T is the shots. i have a needle phobia so i never inject myself [wife does it for me]. i have a 25G to inject and its so thin it takes quite some time to actually get all the solution injected into my leg and can get uncomfortable or quite painful. most exciting thing is i guess the changes happening. apparently changes for me happened a bit quicker then most. only a month on T i already had facial hair growing and muscle building. voice dropped within the first month too, which was weird. im 4 months in and even i still dont notice the voice change much but everyone around me says its very very different lol!

As a non-trans guy I had no idea testosterone could be taken exept in the form of steriods. But I'm happy for everyone who is getting to take testosterone and feeling better in their body, and have gained more appreciation for my natural features. I hope everyone is doing well and that they feel better in their own skin ^^ Though I am a bit jealous that most of you are able to grow a beard and I'm not lol

Never say never, my friend. For me, someone who has a pretty wicked fear of needles, shot days have gotten more easy to manage with time. For the first two months, I needed someone to do them for me because I'd get so freaked out. But, I'm two years into it, and I've been able to hold my own. If you do them subq, it's less intimidating because the needles are smaller. I hope this helps somehow.

I was pretty lucky, got my first beard hairs like two weeks in (like 6 lmao but still!) and all my friends at school were like "you voice is already so deep, how cool!!" like two weeks in. my voice probably wasn't that deep but just having people being as apeshit about my transition as me was really nice.
