agree, i had a thumb drive i could just connect from my iphone to the thumb drive directly. i suppose its all up to us. our knowledge of the resources out there
i have 15,000+ pictures/videos on my iphone that i want to transfer to an external hard drive. Downloaded mobiletrans and it seems simple. If youre in a similar situation just be aware that ITS NOT FREE! The free trial only allows you to do 20 pictures. Of course their payment options are only on a yearly basis starting at $30 a year.
Well done. Thank you. One question not quite answered - how to transfer AND DELETE in one step with the ramifications to iPads & iCloud. Many people are trying to manage iPhone memory. Thanks, again.
Nice video > I have another question. How do you take a photo from an external SSD and transfer it BACK to the iphone Photos Library. ( where is the Photos library????) Thanks
It seems to me that the best and most simple way of transferring photos from iPhone to External SSD is directly. This method is at the end of the video and rushed. Please explain how to "move", step by step. Thanks. Bob
Wow. Lost count of how many different ways you said it isn't easy to transfer photos from an Iphone. We got it the first time, plus that fact is the reason we are here in the first place.
You left out an important caveat when you mention using image capture or the photos app to copy photos to a hard drive. Most people are using the optimize function to save storage space on their phones and computers. If they are doing that then many of the images on those devices are saved only as thumbnails and when they transfer them to the hard drive they will only be saving a thumbnail, not the original image file. That would create a nearly useless backup. I have never used mobiletrans but I would be that this would run into the same problem. You need to warn people about these shortcomings. The only safe way to get all of your data and original files is to download them from iCloud (max 1,000 at a time) or if you have enough space on your device you can turn off image optimization and download all the original files to your device, then use one of the methods you decribe for transfering images from your device to the hard drive
this has literally been my issue. when I've done it- it hasn't organized by dates and I am beyond frustrated. AND I can't find all of my pictures. I'm low-key having a break down lol. if you came across anything that helps, please let me know- I would really appreciate it.
If you backup the Photos Library, any Live Photos in the library will be saved too, unless it is a library syncing with iCloud Photo Library and is using "Optimize Storage". Then many of the photos or Live Photos will only be in iCloud and not on your Mac. To save the Live Photos you can select them in your Photos Library and use the command "File > Export > Export unmodified original". This will export two files, a video component and an image file for the still frame. Save both files on your backup disk. when you import both files together to a Photos Library, the photo will be a Live Photo again. ----founded on Apple support so it might not be possible for you to view a live on a hard drive
This is great! However, my problem is that I have 10,000 photos that I want to get off my phone and out of iCloud onto an external hard drive. Do you have any advice for transferring large amounts of data like that?
I am now 2 min in to this video and stumped by how many times he reoeats himself, the only reason I'm here is for the question you asked. You mean he isn't going to answer that one? Sigh
I tried the drag and drop method and kept receiving errors. Now I tried the Photos App and still receiving an error. Both methods start but then receive and error after a few files transferred.
Thank you for recommending the MobileTrans app but I had no success with it - in the Export to Computer mode it hangs with Download 0%, then asks for my iCloud password оО
Will that app work with 29.000 photos? Every other option does not work and the main problem seems to be iCloud. I bought a sandisk - doesn’t work because I can’t download the actual photos onto my phone because I have no storage. The DCIM folder option doesn’t work either because when I click on it it’s empty and this is due to iCloud. The windows one doesn’t work also, for the same reason. I’m really stuck! Help please!!!😩
How do I transfer videos from iPhone to a external hard drive or usb stick without losing the file quality. iPhone will compress the video file before transferring it out to file and iCloud. Most of my video files are in 4K.
I don't agree with your "Privacy" policy... Too much personal data is collected for this application and there are many apps offering the same user experience with no personal data collected. Uninstalled
@@rainypath96 Airdroid: File & Remote Access by Sand Studio. Very reputable developers with in excess of over 10m+ downloads, positive reviews and it works seamlessly. Hope this helps.
@@rainypath96 I unfortunately can only use an app that allows me to transfere and sort out my files wirelessley and with iCloud integration, but thank you so much for letting me know, it's much appreciated 😊
Im having a hard time cause there is a whopping 13,000 pictures on my phone that Im trying to move to an external hard drive. Is this do-able all in one go? Or do I have to export them in groups? Whats the easiest way.
The easiest way to do this would be to connect your phone to your computer and transfer the pictures from your phone to your computer first. Once the pictures are on your computer, you can then transfer them to your external hard drive. This way, you can avoid any potential issues that may arise from transferring such a large number of pictures directly from your phone to your external hard drive. hope this helps.
Is it harmful for any device to connect iphone (lightning) directly with SSD ( usb-c ) with 1 cable, without connection of a pc/ mac , which i do not have ??
Can i transfer photos, photo folders that i have on iphone and this "system" of recognizing portraits of people in photos, map - geolocalization where photos were taken etc. to computer / external disk? Archivization of photos and making them searchable by so many filters is great option on Iphone, but how to keep it when phots are transfferd to Macbook / external disk? As Iphones and I Cloud are not offering big enough cloud. Is there a way, a program on mac computer to explore photos the same way it was organized on Iphone?
Whenever data is transferred through methods like MobileTrans, the details of the data are not archived. However, the structure of the folder is maintained somehow. If the complete motive of yours only involves navigating through your photos, they can either be retrieved in the same folder or can be organized manually after being shifted to a Mac or Computer. However, there is no system of archiving photos similar to how iPhones do it. A few metrics remain available for users that help them organize the complete photo set, which proves helpful while filtering them down.
Do you know of a way of transferring photos from an iPhone to an external hard drive plugged into a pc or Mac without connecting the iPhone to the device & being away from the same wifi network? Imagine being on holidays, taking photos & having the laptop at home & a hard drive plugged into that laptop. Am hoping an app & matching software could do it?
Do the photos need to be backup up on icloud to transfer them? Using the file manager method on windows doesnt work easily as the photos are in individual folders ;-( What else can I do? Also do I need lightening to usb camera adapter to export them to the drive?
Only some pictures from my iPhone transfers to my harddrive. A message come up at it says that many pictures wasn’t transferd. I don’t know why… Can you help me with this?
Question. I have some of my photos organized inside Albums on my iphone. If I start transferring photos off the phone, will the albums remain intact? Or will those photos also disappear? Bc I need those ones to remain on my phone.
Hey! Photobucket is an online service and can be accessed from any device. There is no need for any such method here because you can download photos directly from the service.
To use an external HD directly on your iPhone you need an adapter and a powered USB hub since the external HD draws lots of power and won't work without an external power. Or, you can buy a lightening USB stick as he mentioned in this video.
Only problem with that is I need a min 2 TB…I can’t find out that size lol I’ve got years of photos and videos on my cell…wish I as more proactive and not wait. my cell is 2TB and I’m at 150 TB 😩 Yep most is just photos and vids lol
When choosing mobile trans do I have to click photos to be transferred individually or is there a "select all" button. This would be good to k now before downloading the app. 'cause I don't want to click on 22,000 files individually. :)
I just downloaded the Mobile Trans app. I can see that all of my pictures have been detected but not the videos. The app says it could not find the video files. How do I get to transfer my videos with Mobile Trans?
You might have selected the wrong option while transferring files from your mobile to the computer, considering you are using an Android. When connecting your Android to the computer, you must select the "File Transfer" option. If you've selected the "Transfer photos (only)" option, you might face such a problem. However, if you have an iPhone, do let us know.
if there's no choice for the external hard drive, it's only Windows hard drive? I've tried many many things for the past year, To change the options, downloading drivers to Reformating the drive, nothing seems to be working.
MobileTrans is not working for me. The only option I get to transfer pictures is to transfer to another phone. No other options appear after numerous restarts.
I tried every option in this video and nothing helped me. I can’t download the mobile trans app because it says it’s not compatible with my Mac book pro. I tried to sign into iCloud on my Mac and everytime I put in my password it says it’s wrong. I went and changed my password again and again and it kept saying it’s the wrong password. I don’t know how that’s possible. This is really frustrating me.
This doesn't work. I have windows and my daughter has latest iPhone. Pretty much every time it crashes, to the point I have to do a few photos at a time....sooooo annoying because you can't tell what photos have been downloaded when you have a few hundred! Also doubles them up on windows as it downloads moving image copy of the photo (but with blue thumbnail). I've just tried again got half way and it's crashed. Can't use Photo app or cut and paste from DCIM files. Apple just wants you to buy apple laptop and not a PC and that's why they make it awkward.
there is a setting on the stupid Apple to only allow a small amount of Pictures to be moved. why can this not be simple that your Iphone is a hard drive accessible over wifi in Explora
Unethical advertising. The app is absolutely not free! it only allows you to move 15-50 photos then you have to pay $20 minimum. Don't mislead people with your comments below the video
Why can"t someone do a video that has no accent (like someone from Georgia US). Damn I can't understand people who do not speak PLAIN english !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
