Great video man, your explanations and amount of detail you put in is amazing, and what’s crazy is this video is 3 years old so I’m sure the knowledge has just multiplied! Thanks again bro great work!
Where does the factory suggest that you put the dial indicator plunger. If is says to put it on the piston then measuring on the disk, steal or pressure plate is not accurate. If it says to place it on the disc or pressure plate then the measurement is accurate. I don't know this transmission so I don't know where the factory says to place the plunger. When I measure on the pressure plate I always push the pressure plate down as far as I can and add that to the movement on the dial indicator while applying air pressure. I know that your air pressure was pushing your clutch pack off the pump but most clutch packs should be measured at 50 to 60 psi since that is normal line pressure at idle for a stepped transmission.
The factory wants the dial indicator pointer against the lug of the clutch disc on the top disc. I have a hard time getting the daily indicator to stay put so I usually use a mag base against the bench. However I have seen a tech fab up some studs to set the dial indicator base in the pump holes, I plan on making a rig like that in the future. The factory wants 30psi primarily for safety. With the input assembly loose on the bench there is a risk of getting hurt if care isn't taken. I usually just risk it with the 90psi shop air unfortunately. Good luck and I hope that helps.
