I'm considering buying a used 2001 RAV4 that doesn't as yet have transmission issues. If I get this SUV, should I have its ECU checked out right away, and would doing that make this model's transmission issues of little worry?

I would definitely recommend getting it refurbished if it hasn't been so already since a failing ECU will cause the transmission to shift harder and if it goes unchecked, there may eventually be physical transmission wear-n-tear.

I have a RAV4 2007 FWD 4 cylinder. I think my tranmission recently slipped and it no longer drives or reverses. However, I never had a engline light or ECM code. It just happened out of nowhere. Is my transmission dead? Or should the computer get replaced? Or both?

I have payment with the car moving from a stop. Like it studders and holds you back from barely moving. Plus zero codes. Is this still an ecu problem?

Yes, this is a common issue of a faulty ECU for this vehicle.

So, i have 2002 rav4. I just replaced valve cover gasket and spark plugs. After doing that now my car stalls sometimes when i accelerate from stop and at that time transmission oil temperature light just blinks for milisecond. I checked all the vacuum hoses after replacing valve gasket. Last time, i was waiting at red signal lights at that time my vehicle stalls at idle and i heard shaddler noise from engine or transmission and then again became normal.

If any bolts were stripped when tightening the bolts, that can cause issues. Also, gapping the spark plugs is something a lot of DIY'ers don't do but can also cause issues with misfires. Even a tiny air leak can cause major idle issues. You can try doing an aersol spray test and see if there are any leaks around the areas where the valve cover gasket was replaced.

I sent my 2007 Mazda 3 2.3 they said it would be done on April now it is on hold and somewhere around the 13th it will be ready can you explain why that would be

Hello. Mine is a rav4 2001 ACA21 and I'm curious if these are symptoms of slipping due to ECM issue: When idling, I'm experiencing sudden rpm surge to around 1200-1500. When I press the gas pedal, nothing happens for around 2 to 4 seconds, then the car suddenly jerks and shifts gear. This happens after I've driven for a bout 15 minutes. I'm guessing it only happens when the engine and transmission are hot. Hoping you could help.

@@upfixauto thank you. i will think about it. I'm from Asia and the shipping cost is a big expense. Gonna isolate all the problems first before I condemn that it's indeed ECM related.

i have no codes, but some of these issues only when cold or first drive of the vday.

My 2003 4x2 ecu was having some issues, intermittent harsh shift 1st to 2nd, intermittent slip from 2nd to 3rd. I sent it in to some company on eBay and now it shifts smooth 1st to 2nd but slips 2nd to 3rd all the time now. Is it possible the company missed something or messed something up?

Yes this is still a problem with ECU. Have them recheck it, they definitely missed something. We can always take care of it as well if needed.

Isn't the TCM when I put it into gear it like shifts hella hard n my light is on isn't that the TCM
