This is the product of him and Em basically attempting to one up each other lyrically for the last 25 years. Crazy part is I don't even think we have seen Royce's best work yet.. Dudes top 5 dead or alive period.
I agree on all except the top 5, dude's my second favorite rapper after kdot but he isn't even top 10 imo, he's 11st on my list... If we go for pure rap skill he's definitely top 5 with Em, Big L, Crooked I and Black Thought/Big Pun imo
@@damianoabbina9967 couldn’t have said it better. Top 5 lyricist definitely. Unfortunately Eminem is the only rapper who can be put in the lyrical and best rapper top 5
Royce is the most slept on Rapper by casuals.. It bothers me so much when people only know of him through Eminem 🤦♂️ Legit, one of the greatest to spit. I encourage everyone to look into him heavily!! King Los looks up to this man as a god, now that’s something. 🔥🔥
The problem with Royce is that his music just isn't that good. He is one of the best rappers ever if you're talking pure technical skill, but his actual discography is on the low side of mediocre.
@@icysdemise3911 In your opinion maybe. I loved his run this past decade. Layers, Prhyme 1 & 2, Trust the shooter, Book of Ryan and now The Allegory. All of those a great to amazing albums
@@douglasdownes4444 Watch them back-to-back. Black Thought goes in for longer and without stopping. Plus he rapped to a much faster beat. His breath control was god tier. Royce almost did spoken word, which is dope, but not as impressive.
My man Royce is intelligent. Dude said he's a lyrical seamstress speakin' in a biblical fibonacci sequence. In other words, dude is packing bars in the most efficient method possible; naturally like the seeds of a sunflower🙌🏿
Eminem said himself that Crooked i and Royce are the only two people that can give him lyrical anxiety , royce perfectly displays why in this freestyle
@@henrychinaski5938 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QWveXdj6oZU.html watch it all, then come back to me, as for MrCactus, you don't know much about MF if you think he only has rhyme.
If Royce really just gave YBN Cordae a shout out that's the highest form of respect. A legend shouting out a young king of the game. By far my favorite out of Slaughterhouse
Yo this shit was so fuckin incredible i almost contemplated quitting rap like every 3rd bar. There's no way I'd ever be able to write anything this immaculate
It's difficult to explain with words how good this performance is from Royce. Levels above, effortless performance, technical rhyme schemes, hard hitting punchlines and I could go on. Wow
I really did after this many times listening just caught that Rapping Duke Daha Daha bar. In the very beginning! Damn I hear new things every time. Royce is an absolute beast!
I’ve said this in a lot of reactions. I hope you do his album cause it’s great! Also Royce first verse is on the album cause he doesn’t really like to do off the top freestyles. He’s said this. But after that verse he went crazy. Shit I’ve never heard before. Amazing 🔥🔥🔥
This is an incredible display of skill, only a small sector of listeners will even be able to fully connect with this. And I am not one of them 😂 I know it’s awesome though
Yo Layed I subbed, I used to hate you because you hated on Tom MacDonald sometimes but after watching more of your videos I realised you're just being real. Respect man.
I appreciate you younger cats fuckin with shit like this. Not only do some lyricist bash the wave you guys ride but also soooo much shit goes over your head because the references were before your time. Can't help that. Much love to those who respect the legends. At least i can tell that it might not be everyones go to name in music but bar appreciation is definitely present.
Of course Em is proud of Royce...there's a reason he works with him more than anyone and shouts him out at every opportunity. Em has big respect for Royce
Have to come back to this freestyle twice a week to work the stank face muscles. _Philosophical syllable seamstress speaking in a biblical Fibonacci sequence._ That shit's on a level above another level. That shit's from a different dimension.
Great reaction vid bro. Advice to further catch the full effect of the bar. Rewind a bit after pausing. That scheme from 5:39-5:55 was damn near perfect but jumping back in at the end has it land lighter. Just for future reference.
My ancestors are Sumerian so when someone mentions stuff like that whether, Daylyt, Royce, jay electronica, nipsey . It’s like man it’s good to hear this stuff coming from other people cause that’s all old tales I hear from grandparents.
The crazy thing is this is where hip hop should already have evolved to and beyond from where we already were by the late 90s-early 2000s. Instead we had a complete regression which was deliberate effort to counter, compete and ride the wave of the global popularity of electronic music that really started to take hold around '05-'06. As an actual working engineer and recording studio musician, I'm telling you this is actual fact. It didn't come organically, it was cooked up by labels and their a&rs. It's what birthed all the vibe driven, drug themed music along with what was being presented visually. After those successes, new, younger generations just ran with it naturally following what was going on musically and by then it was the new normal without anyone having to push for it any longer. Luckily we still have excellent artists with longevity that fought/fight against this and new artists birthed from the greatness that came before now of age and coming into their own and we're getting back away from that. It doesn't hurt that the bubble bursted with the electronic music scene(due in large to the most watered down, generic, quick buck forms of it becoming it's face and main priority, resulting in hoards of extremely talented producers/engineers with skill sets on levels never before seen moving away from that genre(and its countless sub genres) back towards hip hop, and other things that formed their musical core/backbone/soul their entire lives) and hip hop is now the most dominate genre of music world wide.
Super intelligent, woke, punchlines, thought provoking likes, intricate world play, double and triple entendres… and all delivered like it was absolutely nothing. Completely effortless. One of the greatest of all time. You don’t agree? You don’t like hip hop.
