Is Travel Nurse Pay Dropping In 2023?! 

I went back to a perm position, it actually pays well. I like being at home and sleeping in my own bed. The pay isn’t enough to double expenses

Christina, I listened to a video from a year ago. Please don't give up. There are new nurses ready to champion the cause. Yes. They fought back. By the time I took a contract I am being paid considerably less and without benefits. But I am finding the contracts I am being offered reflect the things we are stating. Less money. NO benefits. I found out halfway through my contract after a patient assault that I don't even have a six-month contract to hire. Because I had no PTO, Workmen's comp....I was told was never obligated to take the job after the six months was over and was not obligated to maintain the contract. In other words I was on a more per diem assignment with them and free to opt out of the assignment at any time. The hopeful expectation was that I gave 2 weeks' notice. It took me being in position to almost lose MY LEG to get full disclosure. I am also starting a RU-vid channel/podcast to speak openly about my experiences with the lack of support of nursing leadership in their support of nursing. But how nursing needs to ban together and realize our value instead of complaining. I want to partner with content providers like you in truth. Please don't give up. I think there is a new wave of nurses who are willing to speak up and tell the truths about nursing in 2023. Thank you for your service when nobody saw you!!!

As a travel nurse...it's seriously crisis level lack of staff nursing. It's amazing to me that the hospitals have all banded together to "across the board" low ball travel nurses. I won't work for the BS contracts they are offering now. People don't understand, we will come to your state to help out...but most of us are moms...it doesn't make sense to double my housing expenses and pay for tickets to fly home to be mom....and take contracts for 1950-2400/week!!! I'd be paying them to work. I made more than the above numbers as a staff nurse...and I stayed home. So....staff nursing might be in my near future

It’s Jhaco’s fault- they came to our facility last summer and told our admin (cause we were very very travel nurse heavy) that CMS/Jhaco doesn’t support travel nursing; the they used as “these nurses are just chasing the money and they should not be substituted for facility staff.” Next thing you know all travel contracts are done/cancelled and we’re working short and not even paid the same as our travel nurses. Jhaco has no business decided how these hospitals staff themselves when it comes to nursing. Another layer to add to hospital greed and politics.

All my travel nurse friends are going back to staff in a couple of months, the lucrativeness is definelty going down for a good time though travel nursing will always be needed.

I refused to travel for low rates with cost of living higher incl rent & I was traveling years before Covid!

Don't see conditions improving for the foreseeable future in regards to increasing the supply of available Nurses. They're going to have to pay a LOT more before I even consider returning. VT247

So I heard you said that you wouldn't do travel nursing that is under 3k a week. Have you been able to find any contracts for that rate or have you stopped traveling?

During covid if you were earning more than 5k/wk you shouldnt have any bills at all. I'm trying to understand why you wont take anything less than 3k/wk. I know traveler RNs that worked during c19 and they purchased homes all cash. The average person doesn't earn anywhere near 3k/wk. You may need to work on your money management cause something off.

Do u think travel nursing will still pay good thru 2026?
