Tip, if you have multiple electronics that don't have a USB charger option you can bring an extension cord that can change 1 into multiple outlets, means you only need one adaptor plug. It's really helpful to bring one when sharing rooms too!

Although my international traveling days are over I found this video to be VERY helpful for travel newbies!! I shot video documentaries in Israel, Brazil, Mexico, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand and Malaysia. I carried country-specific adapters and converters wherever I went and tried to use battery power whenever possible. You are absolutely correct to check each device to determine what is safe. It is rare to see travel vloggers share this important technical info.Thnx Nadine!

Also JUST the laptop and phone needs to come out during security. Just...Just the laptop. And X-ray screenings can damage film, so either ask them to inspect it by hand, or just pack it really carefully. Cameras don't need to be in the bin in airport security. Just packed carefully so the xrays don't damage them.

The Chinese tend to use a plug socket that will take both the 3 prong NZ/AU plug as well as the 2 prong US and EU plugs. The only difference between the Chinese 3 prong plug and the NZ/AU 3 prong plug is that the Chinese install their socket the other way up with the earth prong at the top instead of the bottom.

Hey! I’m traveling to Europe in the summer and I’m only taking a carry on. I know that I’m going to end up buying something I won’t be able to take on the plane. Could you do a video about shipping stuff home and how to check to see if what kind of things can be shipped? (If I can find one, I think I might buy my husband a sword. It’s silly but we thought it would be fun.) 😆 thanks so much!

Hi. Great info. We are traveling from US TO Tahiti and I keep going in circles about what to get. We’ve got an iPhone, insta360x3, go pro 12, charging bank for insta batteries, curling iron says 120/240v, ac 50/60 hz 125w. Not sure if I should get the small light weight square universal adaptor or a Ceptics travel voltage converter 200W? If I go with the converter then I’m sure I’m safe right? Even if the items are compatible either way? Only thing it won’t do is a hairdryer. Your help is appreciated. Thanks

Hello Hey Nadine, I just bought a speaker from spain that has a europe type plug, and I need to understand exactly which type of device I need to buy to plug it in the United States? Do I need a euro to usa convertor, adapter or transformer? I'm confused. I labeled the power requirement with the details below. Name Of Speaker: LG Dj OL100 XBoom 2000W Portable 200 - 240 V ~ 50/60 Hz 170 W

So what would happen if i plugged in a 240v hair straightener into a 110v socket?
@mattofstie9298
@mattofstie9298 6 лет назад
Depends on your straightener. If it's only rated for 240v, then it would probably just take a long time to heat up and might not even heat up to the correct temp. Usually 240v devices just perform badly on 110v and it's less of a safety concern than when it's the other way around.
@danielle2586
@danielle2586 6 лет назад
So what happens if you have a curling wand at 240v but want to use it in North America where it's 120v? Would have been helpful to hear both sides of the spectrum.
@kaitbleeker
@kaitbleeker 6 лет назад
my blowdryer, for example, worked very slow in that case, blowing 3 times slower than if it was in Europe..
@mattofstie9298
@mattofstie9298 6 лет назад
It's the same answer in both cases - you would need to use a voltage converter.
@MrKeilification
@MrKeilification 6 лет назад
almost every newer electrical device is able to handle 110-240v, as it is too complicated to produce two models, they just add different plugs at the end. if you have a 240 and use it at a 120, it will just take longer to get hot. you should only be careful when using a 120 on a 240v, that can be very bad, the other way round doesn't matter too much
@mattofstie9298
@mattofstie9298 6 лет назад
Yes, typically 240v devices will just run poorly and not heat up properly on 120v outlets. Whereas 120v devices could get fried, trip breakers, blow fuses, etc. on 240v outlets.
@danielle2586
@danielle2586 6 лет назад
