Swiss Trip Report flying from Zurich to Dubai onboard one of the Swiss Airbus A330 on a lovely summer day.
A comfortable flight onboard the Swiss Airbus A330-300 from Zurich to Dubai. The A330 still offers the 2-4-2 seat configuration, which is perfect for those seated on the window seats. This was also my first time flying to Dubai with Swiss and, of course, it's also for the channel.
We arrived internationally as connecting passengers to Zurich and the layover time for our flight to Dubai was just 2 hours. For the purpose of making a complete Trip Report I went all the way out to the street to finish the previous Trip Report and start this one outside the airport. That's the reason why you may feel a little rush at Zurich airport. I hope it won't be too bad. We even had time for a short planespotting session on both terminals!
We departed from Zurich towards the west, that's exactly the opposite direction of Dubai. That's why we made a long 180° turn after takeoff during the initial climb. From there we flew towards the Austrian Alps, and flew over the north of Slovenia and Croatia, before entering Serbia. From there we flew directly to Burgas, in Bulgaria, and crossed the Black sea towards Turkey. We overflew all of Turkey prior to making an almost 90° turn toward Erbil. We crossed all of Irak, from north to south until Basrah. From there we flew in direct course to Dubai, where we landed after a beautiful approach over the city.
Regarding the onboard service, the crew served the main meal (lunch service) just after departure. To be honest, it was pretty decent: a well-elaborated quinoa salad, tasty chicken (or a vegetarian option), and some bread, cheese, and butter. The dessert was probably the weakest part of it. Just before starting descent, the crew served one of the best pre-landing meals I've seen to date. It consisted of some kind of pizza, an ice cream, and drinks. That's what a pre-landing snack should look like! That's the way Swiss!
Now it's your turn! Have you ever flown with SWISS? Which route? How was the experience? Which plane do you prefer for long-haul? The A330 or the B777? Have you ever been in Dubai? Maybe in Zurich? What do you think about the Swiss onboard service? Do you think they can compete with Emirates in this route?
Lots of things to talk about! Read you all in the comments!
