Hi, in this video I do an unboxing of the Triton Thicknesser, this is a surface planer for any type of wood. I brought this tool with my own money purely because i wanted to surface plane some rough sawn timber and also some projects such as chopping boards. I love how much cutting width you get (317mm) and is wide enough for all the types of timber and projects i work on. Overall this is a great tool addition for my workshop and i can see myself using it a lot in future projects. so far no problems at all and is perfect straight out of the box.

Magnets are for helping to remove / adjust the blades. Note the places next to the ‘hidden’ Allen key where you can store the magnets when not in use 👍

Really appreciate your time with the video and reference to the Titan. I'm torn between the two, but unfortunately the Triton has gone up considerably in price. Cheapest I've found is £335 compared to £180 for the Titan. Love the wood combination btw 😉

Hi my name is Andrew Burchell from Reading. Just whach your video on thickness. Which was helpful. I also make chipping boards and trays etc. Using all hard woods from around the world.

Use lightly sprayed silicon spray on the height lift screws, they will clog up with dust if oiled up. Makes adjustments easier and smooth when up and down. Too much spray will turn it into grease though and use dust extraction to keep the chips from blocking up the exit. I have had the same model for two years and it still is on the same blades. Look after them, use a metal detector to check wood prior to planing unless new and also lightly lower the height to plane as it will stop burns and the motor from overworking... You will not be disappointed and see reclaimed wood in a all new light 👍

You will get snipe at some point, I also use a thin piece of MDF (5.5mm) on the platen to put the wood on which helps a lot, take in mind when height is to be exact, so 18mm will be 23.5mm on adjustment. Tips makes prizes

@@philbrandon0532hi mate, so another 2 years on how are you finding this model? I’m about to buy and my biggest concern is the snipe. Does putting your work piece through the planer sitting on the mdf work well for the snipe still as you mentioned before ?

You obviously didn't read the label that tells you not to lift it using the roller 🙂
