Motone Customs have finally released the new wider Bobber/Speedmaster specific Union Jack CNC machined Radiator guard! Motone Customs Rad Guard. www.motone.co.uk/motorcycle-p... PATREON. / stuartfillingham
I went to the dealer today to check out my new T120 black in matte grey and handed them over the Motone Union Jack guard to install. The guard looks stunning indeed, can’t wait to see the final result when I go to pick up my new baby next week!
Another nice piece of kit from Motone. Just one question Stuart, are you sure the Union Flag shape is CNC machined or is it laser cut? You are correct about how cold it is, I have had the fan heater on in the garage while I have been polishing the Goldwing!
Hi Michael thats a good question! both the frame and the union jack are cut from one single slab of aluminium. as laser cutting on works in 2 dimensions it would have been impossible to produce it that way as the cuts are 3 dimensional. I hope that makes sense.
Hi Michael there are only 2 part numbers. Kns002 is for the speed master as shown on the packaging in today's video. Or its safe to just order it from the bobber page on motones site.
The stock allen bolts on my Speed Twin 900 aren't quite long enough to go through this radiator guard and screw tight. Do you happen to know what size bolts these are?
To answer my own question - the stock is an M5 x 12. I replaced them with an M5 x 16 and they worked great. Funny thing is my wife went to recycle the box the Motone radiator guard came in and the screws were in the box! D'oh! BUT - they were stainless. The ones I ended up getting were black so it looks great!
yeah its a bit of a mystery really though the T120 to my mind barely has enough cooling as it stands. maybe they realised that and beefed it up for the Bobber!
My only complaint with Motone, which is not apparent on this piece, is the way they brand their accessories. I find their badging is too in your face on most of their pieces and the white cursive type font just doesn't match the vibe of the modern classics. I tend to stay away from a lot of their stuff because of it.
