This is my short person review of the new Triumph Tiger 900 GT Pro. I am 5'5" tall, weigh 65kg with an inseam of 30".
If you need in-depth specifications please click on the link below:

I am using a Drift Ghost X camera with my own DIY mic set up with a Lavalier mic. If you are considering buying the Ghost X I will not recommend it because of really bad instructions and mic set up configuration. The in-built mic is notorious for drowning out your voice due to wind noise despite having an external mic, I have tried different mics and different set up and it still records wind noise. I am hoping to upload my feedback of the Ghost X soon.

Your title says GT pro review but in your review you state that you have the GT which does not have all the bells and whistle‘s. I have a GT pro and I am very happy with the bike. I am 5 foot three. My previous bike was a tiger XRX low. I really liked the 800 but I went with the low so I can touch the ground comfortably. The drawback for me was going through the twisties at a good pace in tight corners I would scrape. I have no problem with the new standard height GT pro. I do have to be conscious when coming to a stop. As a short rider we do not have a lot of options for a comfortable touring style motorcycle. This one fits the bill. Quick shifter works amazing, the windshield deflects the wind perfectly for my height. Enjoy the ride👍🏍

Thank you very much Sir 😊, I know exactly the feeling. I have watched quite a few "reviews" where they commented about "if you're shorter than 5'7" or 5'10" then this bike is not for you...blah blah", So I am just challenging myself more than anything to see for myself and thought I might as well share my experiences with my fellow RU-vidrs'.

I’m so glad I came across your channel, it’s a huge help for us who are shorter in stature! I’m just a touch under 5’7” with a 29” leg but weigh 100kg which is a bonus for manhandling the bike about! I’m looking to test one of these as I’ve just had a test ride on a bmw f 900 xr which I really enjoyed but I’m not sure it would have the power for two up riding so this almost certainly wouldn’t either. Possibly a lightly used r 1200 gs with the low chassis could be the answer. Looking forward to watching all your videos and keep up the great work!

Thank so much Bruce for your kind words. I am new to reviewing bikes and hope to get better. I think I got slightly spoiled by my test ride on the R1250GS which had so much grunt and power that the Tiger felt a little underwhelming. Still I think Triumph should have upped the power a bit more for those of us who had the previous Tiger 800. But please do take a test ride. I just wanted a bit more grin factor.

I was test riding the speed twin ( totally different bike ) and asked for a test rode this G T pro and it’s a brilliant all round bike ! You must test ride one . The quick shifter is the best in my opinion, plenty of real world power , very comfortable do it all bike ! I no longer want a naked bike . Most dealer have sold out , that’s a good sign 👍

I'm about the same height, and I struggled to get my toes down on the V-strom 650 with the standard seat. The weight also surprised me - despite the 216kg published kerb weight, I had to heave the Suzuki off the sidestand to get it upright. So when I went to test ride the Tiger 900 GT a few weeks ago, I had my doubts and reckoned I'd probably have to cough up extra for the Low Ride Height version with the lowered suspension & seat. Shockingly the standard bike with the standard seat set in the low position allowed both my toes to reach the ground easily. And the bike was surprisingly light, popping off the sidestand to get upright with minimal effort. Within minutes I was riding it confidently around the block. Being able to reach the ground with both feet is important to me as I need to ride 2-up fully loaded with luggage in tight, start-stop Asian traffic. So... I was sold right there and then.

I was able to flat foot the old 800 XRT. I'm 5'9-5'10, but the same inseam. But it was nice to see how the seat height difference between the trim levels look like. Now it's just a matter of deciding what manner of riding I'll be doing. Majority road or ability to do some off road. riding

I am short too, a tip that will help to get a big bike off the sidestand, slide a wedge under the stand to get it more upright, sit on the bike and straighten the bike off the side stand, retrieve the wedge with the attached rope, store the wedge and rope in your tankbag or pocket for next time

Cheers Andy, It definitely is a good all rounder. I just felt that, overall, compared to my old Tiger 800 Triumph could've been a bit more brave in giving it a few more bhp considering the likes of 790 Adventure, or dare I say, strictly road focused Tracer 900 or the new BMW F900XR. So I will still be searching for my ideal bike. Thanks so much for watching and commenting.

The problem is I couldn't even push the KTM 1290 Adventure off it's side stand - just so top heavy and too high for my diminutive stature! I did just about managed to test ride the 790 Adventure and (see video on my channel) liked it except I didn't like the road manners with the massive 21 inch front wheel. I might give the KTM 1290 GT a go.

Hi, thank you so much and I am glad you found it useful. The only gripe I had with this revised model is that Triumph should have upped the bhp a bit more but they chose to be "all things to all people" and stuck with A2 licence friendly option! Opportunity lost in my view. And apologies for the helmet cam - see my review of the cam with my sound problems. I couldn't afford a better quality cam but who knows if I can recoup my expenditure from RU-vid then I would have to get another one. But for that to happen I need to have at least 1000 subscribers!

Thanks Paul, I understand completely. I had the Tiger 800 for several years and I got bored with it within a year and so I was really hoping that the new Tiger would have added a bit more ooomph but instead they have decided to focus all their work wholly on the off road department and kept it within A2 licence category. Of course for most riders it would be OK but I am going through a mid life conundrum and am in need for speed and lots of it🤣😂😅

@@InfusedBiker Your negative comments always have context, so they are useful. I really appreciate the time and effort that guys like yourself take to do 'real world' evaluations without the hype etc. As for my travels, having spent 30 years in the Oil industry and working in almost every country on the West coast of Africa (and growing up in Zambia) I have a serious urge to spend a couple of years exploring the more remote parts of that amazing continent... political situations will obviously dictate those plans. It's a funny old world we live in, power, how much do we need\want. I bought a Ninja 1000sx March 2021, now 4000miles and a massive headache later it sits there in my garage without giving me that buzz to out on it, it looks nice and shiny though. Not actually that comfortable as first thought. First it was very tall on the standard seat, which have straight edges that cause your ass\legs to be sore. I've recently paid another £200 for the lower seat which makes getting your feet on the ground much better but leg bend increases as a result so you loose out their. I'm 5'8" 29" inside leg just so you know. Main issue is the suspension which I fiddled with for the first 2000miles and could not get the suspension chatter gone. Turns out the topbox fitted with Shad rack causes this issue with chatter. The box was super sturdy but still I could ride along and turn around to touch the box and feel it jarring\shacking away. That's now a £500 purchase stuck on my shelf in the garage. The engine is okay, has power, suffers from vibs but not half as bad as my previous Versys1000 SE GT (2019). That four cylinder in wearing though, always seems to be buzzing away. But my Kawasaki dealer was close to me! So I've spent and wasted lots of money to progress from my previous cheap second hand v-Strom 650 (2014) which I ended up with after a year away from biking. The v-Strom always put a smile on my face, loved it, just could not believe how much I'd miss it really, doesn't the tiger look similar, ha! So, I'd love the BMS R1250GS but the cost of thing is ridiculous, so thinking about this Triumph, which I had in mind to trade the v-Strom in for when it first came out. I am now kicking myself as nearly £10000 has gone done the drain in two years, I'm close to ordering my Triumph Tiger GT Pro as it has such a good reputation among the reviewers. From what I can see up to 100mph the Tiger flies, its the feeling when you get home and walk away with a smile on your face that makes the next day feel like it couldn't come fast enough. I've had 37 motorbikes, Hayabusa 2008 (Orange to die for) for 17000miles, CBR1100XX SuperBlackbird various others but at 53 I need that combination of factors, comfort, power, quality and smile factor. I'm booking a test ride first but watch this space. Triumph have done a cracking job I think so far, also wondering about the 1200 coming out, but will that just spoil that smile factor with the extra weight! Not that I need the low version as sitting on the standard one felt great, but check this out: 2020 Triumph Tiger 900 GT Low | First Ride Review - RU-vid

I would love to test ride the new Suzuki GSX 1000GT as it’s slightly lower than the Ninja and slightly lower weight, I think. I think it depends on what your inside leg measurement is. Get a tape measure and measure from crotch to bottom of your heel. If the measurement is like mine with 30" then you can manage with a pair of thick soled boots. In any case, you must take one out for a test ride to see how you feel. Compared to other bikes the Tiger is not too top heavy which helps shorter riders.

Just liked and subbed. I am also 5'5" but with a shorter inseam by a couple of inches, so you are a pretty good guide for me with these bikes you are testing. I have tested the 900 GT Pro and if I'm honest I wasn't blown away. Don't get me wrong, it was nice, but I only had about 45 minutes or so to test, so can't judge it too much. I currently have a year old bike worth about £8000 new but the tiger didn't feel an extra £5000 worth of bike in comparison to mine. Also, I don't know if I was doing something wrong but the cruise control was a bit hit and miss for me. I know you have to be travelling above 30 something mph and be in 3rd gear or above but sometimes I just could not get it to engage. Did you have any trouble with it? Good luck in growing your channel. Looking forward to more videos 👍

Thanks so much for subscribing - much appreciated. Yes, Just like you I wasn't blown away by the power and I actually felt disappointed that Triumph didn't take the opportunity to give it few more ponies! I suppose they wanted to be "all things to all people all of the time" and keep it within A2 licence limit. Compared to my old Tiger 800 there is no discernable difference other than the engine sound - what a terrible shame in my opinion. I didn't have the opportunity to try the cruise control on the motorway but tried it for a short distance in low speed and it seemed to be working for me. In my opinion the new engine update is not worth an upgrade/change of bike for on road purpose. Those inclined to do purely off-road may want one for their thrill riding in the dirt. But not for me!

Hello, nice video. Thank you. I am a bit concerned about the power, seems a bit low for a 900cc motorcycle. If it was more powerful, like the Ducati Multistrada 950 S I would probably not doubt getting it as my next bike. But for the Tiger 900 GT Pro, the price (at least where I live) is nearly as much as a Ducati Multistrada 950 S so I would probably go for the Multistrada. And I totally agree with what you said: ' Is this as exciting as the GS?' and that is the main problem I found when I gave it a test drive, It did not excite me. I did however find the BMW F 900 R, the Multistrada 950 S, the KTM 790 Adventure, the Honda CRF1100 Africa Twin and the Yamaha Tracer 700 very exciting to ride. I too am looking for a new everyday bike, one thing I need is for it to be comfortable for my wife, have storing space for two helmets and not be too heavy (no Honda Gold Wing, LOL). After testing the Moto Guzzi V85 TT, the Kawasaki Versys 650, the KTM 790 Adventure, the Honda CRF 1100 Africa Twin, the Yamaha Tracer 900 GT, the Yamaha Tracer 700, the Ducati Multistrada 950 S, the Triumph Tiger 900 GT and the BMW F900 XR... I have narrowed it down to the Multistrada 950 S, the Yamaha Tracer 900 GT, the Moto Guzzi V85 TT Travel or the Triumph Tiger 900 GT. Most other bikes I ruled out due to comfort (BMW, Tracer 700), low power (versys 650), or too off road oriented (790 Adventure, Africa Twin), these last two also had comfort issues. The Moto Guzzi V85 TT is still being considered for its price, its looks and the cardan. most negative point I see is the aftersales network (small). I think I am going to rule out the Tiger 900 GT that really pities me, because I wanted an English bike for once. The Yamaha Tracer 900 GT is great value, but it lacks the quality look and feel that the Tiger 900 GT or the Multistrada have. I think my best choice is the Ducati Multistrada 950 S... but it, of course, is the most expensive of the contenders. Maybe if I can get my hands on a Triumph Tiger Sport 1050 it could be an option (but it is kind of dated with an analogue dash and halogen lights (no LEDs)). Thank you very much for your honest thoughts on this bike. Now days it seems everybody just reviews and says 'this is great' because they are getting the bikes lent long term to them by the dealers. A big thank you there. Have fun and ride safe.

Ahhh! Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to provide some in-depth comparison and I am so glad you agreed with me on the lack of power on the Tiger 900. I am a shorty so I am very mindful of top heavy and tall bikes. I recently sat on both the Multistrada 950S and 1260 and found the 950 very difficult to get off the side stand, whereas 1260 was slightly easier and lower. The extra height on 950 is due to it's bigger front wheel whereas the 1260 has 17 inch front. I am also on the fence regarding chain drive versus shaft drive leaning more towards shaft purely because of the mess and regular chain adjustment and lubing😅. And I will continue on my search. Thanks for your support and best wishes.

I thought it was a bit unfair to compare these two bikes, but I do realize that you were comparing more your subjective feelings than the factual performance of the bikes. But to compare grin factor it would have been better to compare a bike of similar output. Anyway, it was a good review, with many details useful to short riders, I am a woman so no 6footer either. I sat on it today but cannot try since they don't have the limited version for testing. I worry about the vibrations. I have 2019 Honda 500x now and I want to make longer rides, but after an hour on the highway my hands want to fall off. I live in Spain, it's a big country and lots of highways, you have to use them if you want to get anywhere. I still have 8 months to get my full license and I thought I could wait that long, but my hands really hurt. It is a nice bike, comfortable, works well, rides well, good in town and secondary roads, and it sounds very nice too. I can't flatfoot it, so in that sense, the Tiger would be an improvement. There really are no other options regarding seat height in this segment - and I want that comfortable posture. My reason tells me to way, but my heart (and hands) tells me to get it even without a test ride.....

@@InfusedBiker Thanks for replying. In comparison with the bike that had vibrations, how would rate the Tiger? In comparison with other twin cylinders, how much do you think the Tiger vibrates? I sat on the 900XR, I could not flatfoot, they do have a low seat but you have to buy it separately. The seat is short so does not allow to move around to change position on longer rides. One thing I was surprised about was how hard it was for me to lift it upright when I got on it. I thought that the side stand was shorter and the bike was more inclined, but the sales rep assured me that was not the case. I sat on the 750 and on the T9 scrambler (what a beautiful bike!) and no problem getting these bikes upright. I went back on the 900XR and again, really heavy to get it upright. I still think it has to be the side stand. Or the bike is extremely top heavy, which does not seem to be the case according to the reviews. I just can't imagine dealing with that in terrain when the surface is less than ideal, with a full tank which would make it even heavier.

Triumph stayed under 95 bhp for A2 licence so that the power can be limited for A2 licence holders. If they had gone above 95bhp then they wouldn't be able to comply with A2 options. The change in engine firing intervals was purely done to make the bike more tractable off-road. So based on my personal ownership of the Tiger 800 I did not notice any discernable or meaningful power difference at all.
