Well, lookie here. I've got myself, or better yet, my TR4, an overdrive transmission for her birthday, which was 10/21/1964. I start the tear-down to see if I got a good specimen or not. These things aren't cheap and this one cost me $1400. But, it was local and I got to look before purchase. Turns out, it's in pretty good shape!

I know. I'm very excited. Guess I should finish it now.

That looks pretty good, and hopefully will work out with minimal parts needing replacement.

Thanks, Barry. Found one broken thrust washer (next video), but that was it. Happy with the purchase!

i guess there should be an angle drive for the speedo so the cable goes back to the dashboard with the right angle, i'm on the third one already, they don't seem to last very long, thanks for the video Chris.

Thanks. There doesn't appear to be an angled drive in the workshop or spare parts manuals. I know the Spitfires needed on with an OD. We'll see, I guess, when it doesn't fit!

Nice score on the OD! I have yet to dive into mine, just trying to get the gearbox hashed out first. But the OD will be next. Fingers crossed for the both of us that it will not be a pricy rebuild.

Thanks, Steve! Mine looks good so far. Need a new solenoid, one thrust washer was broken, but that looks about it (outside of software, of course). Things are pretty ingenious. Way too complicated, but ingenious.

@@roundtailrestoration my big concern is the clutch. Those for the D type like mine are about $350…

@@StevesProjectCarGarage I assume you mean the one internal to the OD? Mine looked brand new so I hope you'll find the same!

@@roundtailrestoration yep! Thats the one. I put a magnet into the sludge that came out of mine and all the sludge was ferrous. That does not instill confidence.

@@StevesProjectCarGarage no, I guess it doesn't. Hopefully it's all good. Looking forward to the inspection.

Be sure to check and verify clearances and inspect bushings. Other than that they are simple units and work great if adjusted correctly.
