On this video today, I update you on the side affects I have experienced so far. The ways the chemo has affected me. If I think there has been any changes or improvements. Also, be looking for updates next Friday as I begin cycle two of trodelvy. Mid August I will have my first trial ct scan to see how the chemo has affected my liver/lung mets so far. Thanks for stopping by! Take a moment to give this video a thumbs up, subscribe and hit the bell notification symbol.

Hi Leslie, My mom was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer in September 2019. I've been watching your videos since then, starting with the video on your use of verzenio as that was the first treatment our oncologist recommended. It didn't work after 3 months on the treatment, and since then we've been on two different chemos for which the cancer has become resistant to. Your strength and tenacity inspire me, and I will keep you in my prayers. Thank you for being such an inspiration and brave enough to share your journey with others who learn from your wealth of knowledge. All the best for your current clinical trial treatment. Take care.

Wow, Crystal, You and your mom are going through a lot. It is a hard thing to go through, and the learning curve needs to be rapid. I was wondering, did your mom have a previous diagnosis of breast cancer, and then it became metastatic? I am so happy that my videos have given you any info that is helpful to you at all. I truly hope your mom gets a treatment that she can be on for good long while that gets her to NED. (no evidence of disease) In the meantime I hope more treatments come around for approval so you can have years and years with your mom. So, for you and all the mothers, daughters, sister, and the men that get this diagnosis, Its great to know that I am giving someone hope.Thank you for your uplifting message! It means a lot. Leslie

Leslie Bowlus Hi Leslie, Like you my mom’s metastatic cancer is a estrogen receptor positive, it’s also HER2 positive. Her metastatic breast cancer is a recurrence from her original breast cancer diagnosis in 2017 from which the oncologists said resolved. However in September 2019 the doctors said that the cancer returned and was metastatic. scans showed that her cancer Mets were in the liver, and bones of her 8th and 9th vertebrae. No tumors in her breasts themselves. So far bone Mets have stopped spreading since she had radiation on them. However liver Mets have doubled in size even on chemo. Like you she has the stabbing pains in her abdomen from the liver Mets, for which the palliative care doctor prescribed her hydromorphone as a pain killer. Do you only see an oncologist or have you seen a palliative care physician to help you with your symptom management? When we were referred to the palliative care physician it improved her quality of life tremendously.

@@teamjacobcrystal I see my oncologist once a month, and have treatment twice a month on a 21 day cycle (2 weeks on one week off) I have a team that works with me and my oncologist to provide palliative care. Yes, I agree that palliative care helps so so much. Please tell your mom hi for me, and keep me posted on her progress. Thanks!

So happy to see you doing so well. My husband has had prostate cancer for 9 years, 6 of which are metastatic prostate cancer to bones. He’s been on so many therapies over the years and Keytruda held the cancer at bay for a year before this last recurrence. He’s now taking a third line hormone therapy, Xtandi, that has so very many nasty side effects but his only other option is a clinical trial. You seem to be just a tad ahead of my husband in the long line of cancer treatments. How do you stay so positive in your long journey? You are truly aspirational. What helps you on what seems a very treacherous recurrence?

Thanks for those questions. Do you mind if I answer them in my next video? I'm so glad your husband is doing well on the hormone therapy. But I agree side affects are no fun! If I feel well next video Friday the 31st
