You're nuts! You know that right? BUT you're the "KIND" of 'nuts' we ALL love & enjoy watching. Things we daydream about and here you are making them happen. Hats off to you not only for the snow blower but the ABILITY TO THINK & ACT! OK, so I 'liked' and "SUBSCRIBED" and thank you! Sonny (CT)

The closer the higher actuator bolt is to the chute itself the faster the chute will move. It will lose strength proportionately but if the issue is speed I would move the bolt as close to the chute as possible without losing range of motion. Awesome project glad you made a video for us. 👍

I really like what you have done and hope it's totally successful. Mine was made from scrap on the farm including a 1980 1 ton 2 wheel drive with a 250 6 cyl and powerglide trans. I powered the blower with an olds 455 and turbo 400 trans mounted backwards where the box would have been, made a chain case to drop below the the chassis and drive it with an old corn chopper shaft under the cab. That way I could swap it from the truck to the tractor. Your low range 4x4 might not have to work so hard to move it thru deeper snow keeping it cooler. I boiled the 2sp 3 times blowing out the front seal. I should have installed a trans temp guage! Good luck!

Wow. This is impressive. Amazing job, that's a sweet rig you've built there. 100% deserved a "like". You clearly have a lot of creativity and mechanical skill. You may already be aware, but the guy behind the "Tech Ingredients" channel built a turbojet from a turbocharger and did a lot of explaining about the technical aspects of things like pipe diameter and gas flow which may be helpful if you haven't already built it. Would love to see that beast you've built in action.. could probably clear a typical driveway in all of 2 minutes 😂

I have dreamed of having a front snowblower on my 2500Hd extended cab years ago. I don't like when the motor is mounted on the front too much weight. Beautiful job obviously needs to be cleaned up but its a process. I always imagined a very small diesel engine in corner of bed (with stack) for hydraulic pack or even drive of pto or belt on engine. I had to click to check this out.

I have seen some ham-fisted projects, and I have seen some next-level projects. This? This is out of the park on to N. Clark Street.... Very, very cool project!! Love the control console - well thought out! Speed sensor will eventually be for the main auger? My only $.02 would be to be careful using plain-old galvanized sch 40 Home Depot pipe on a hydraulic system - they were never intended to be used on the high-side of a 3000 psi hydraulic system... Love the project!!! Would love to see it in action when the snow gets stacked up.
@uwpd

@uwpd
@uwpd 7 месяцев назад
Thank you. The engine I have is rated for 220-260 lb-ft. So if you end up with a setup similar to mine I would think you will be okay. You need to make sure whatever pump you use can flow enough fluid for your hydraulic motor.

@uwpd
@uwpd 3 года назад
This is true. However most of those were the smaller straight 6, 200ci I believe. Also I don’t know if that hydraulic pump will flow enough for this kind of application.
@SomeTechGuy666
@SomeTechGuy666 3 года назад
@@uwpd The pump is for the hydraulic drive on those swathers. The pump would easily pull down the motor if you tried to accelerate too fast. The 400 motor is rated at 40KW. The 4400 is rated at 60 KW. All swathers (and combines) are hydrostatic drive. Any one of them could be used for their motor/hydraulic pump.

@uwpd
@uwpd 3 года назад
With this setup the motor should be putting out approximately 50hp at the blower. I found some calculators online, using the variables I had I was able to figure out what I needed. I then contacted a local hydraulic shop and they confirmed what I had come up with. I ended up getting the major hydraulic components from them. I could have gotten them cheaper online, but since they helped with the design I spent the extra money going through them.
