halo halo are available around the country and it depends upon which fruits are in season which are the main ingredients of the halo halo... there are places where beans are not one of the ingredients in the halo halo... so whatever fruits are available in the locality then that's the ingredients of the halo halo... btw the skin of the lechon is crispy if it is newly roasted... enjoy the Philippines and keep coming back to further explore other islands... remember we have over 7,000 islands😊😊

Your in the wrong island, Cebu is the main place to go. Pro tip: If you don't see the whole pig, it isn't fresh. If the skin is soggy, its been there the whole day. House of Letchon in cebu has a schedule for letchon arrival. Monday to Thursday 10am, 12nn, 5pm. Friday to Sunday 10am, 12nn, 2pm and 5pm. Get there around these times.

It's pronounced "Har Lo Har Lo" as in fallow. Means mix mix, which is what you do, don't eat the individual bits. For the best lechon in the Philippines you need to go to Carcar, about 1 hour drive south of Cebu city. There is an area that just deals in lechon and chicharon. If you are on Cebu island a must place to visit. Also a stopover on the way to Moalboal.

Best Lechon in the Philippines. Mila's Lechon Laloma | Best Lechon Metro Manila | Best Lechon Philippines Lechon Baboy (Small Good for 15 pax) ₱8,000.00 Halo-halo, also spelled haluhalo, Tagalog for "mixed", is a popular cold dessert in the Philippines made up of crushed ice, evaporated milk or coconut milk, and various ingredients including side dishes such as ube jam (ube halaya), sweetened kidney beans or garbanzo beans, coconut strips, sago, gulaman (agar), pinipig, boiled taro or soft yams in cubes, flan, slices or portions of fruit preserves and other root crop preserves. The dessert is topped with a scoop of ube ice cream. It is usually prepared in a tall clear glass and served with a long spoon.[1] Halo-halo is considered to be the unofficial national dessert of the Philippines.

Halo-halo was actually introduced to the country by Japanese immigrants to the Philippines back in the 1920s. Originally served as "Kakigori" (Japanese shaved ice with red beans, and sweet syrup and condensed milk), the cold snack evolved into what it is now because the vendors sometimes ran out of red beans. They substituted items such as fruits, jellies, flan, and ice cream. Over the years, the Filipinos adopted the snack as their own (talk about cultural appropriation) and the Japanese origins became totally forgotten. The Koreans also have their own version called "bingsu". That lechon place you went to is kinda sketchy because the better lechon places never, ever serve greasy lechon.
@taylorsaunderss
@taylorsaunderss 4 месяца назад
Wow thank you so much for that information!! I had no idea it originated in Japan!! That’s super interesting information and i’m so glad to know that now, Maybe when we’re in Korea we will try Bingsu! 🙌 & I agree i don’t think the Lechon place we went to was a good resturant at all sadly 👎

@saunderss You're welcome! Now, if you're planning to taste "balut", here's how to eat it properly: 1. Look for the wider, rounder end and crack open a small hole. DO NOT POUR OUT the liquid inside. 2. Sprinkle some salt inside and sip the liquid until you've drunk it all. Some people will suggest sprinkling some vinegar into it but you're likely to end up with the liquid tasting like vinegar, so I'd suggest avoiding doing this. 3. peel away the shell until about half remains, exposing what's inside. 4. DO NOT, REPEAT, DO NOT eat the hard white part. Throw this away. The yellow part is the yolk, and this is okay to eat. 5. Eat the chick last. If the egg is 14 days old, you can just swallow the chick straight off. As the eggs become older, the chick becomes more formed, and the bones, beak, and feet become harder, and the feathers become thicker. The chick shouldn't be more than 18 days old, but there'd really be no way to tell. The vendor might claim it's a 14-day old egg but you'd have no way to tell if he's lying or not. 6. Brag about it to your less adventurous friends. A few more tips: 1. If you haven't gone to the Salcedo and Legaspi markets (in Makati), don't bother going there. You're not really missing anything worthwhile. If you do go there, it'd be pretty disappointing, especially if you plan on eating there. The seating area is almost always full so you don't really have a place to enjoy your food. The food items are kind of expensive, and you realize you could have gotten the same kind of food items at a decent restaurant with A/C, better service, and prices that aren't too far off. 2. Don't go to Intramuros or any Philippine museum on a Monday. They're closed for cleaning. 3. Always bargain with tuk-tuk or tricycle drivers. Ask him to name a price, counter by half, and start from there. Never, ever take his first offer. It doesn't matter if the driver's original price comes out less than five dollars. You're still being ripped off. Also, tuk-tuks and tricycles are only good for short trips. Malls in Makati are never accessible by tricycle or tuk-tuk. Any tuk-tuk or trike driver who says he can take you to the mall (In Manila or Makati) in his vehicle is an effing liar. Never attempt to go to a mall using this form of transportation. You're likely to end up having to walk a kilometer or more to go to the mall, not to mention getting into a fight with the driver for lying to you. Just use the Grab app to book a ride. 4. When in Cebu, always go to Rico's, CNT, or Ayer's for lechon. I'm not sure if Zubuchon is still open, just ask around. But those are the big four. 5. Temple of Leah in Cebu is not really worth visiting. Nothing Instagram-worthy there. Also, don't go to TOPS unless you have your own transportation. I'm enjoying your vlogs. Keep safe!

Hi, you got the lechon that was not freshly cooked that's why the skin is not that crispy anymore. If you want the really authentic lechon is go to where they are freshly cooked and not the one's that were cooked for about many hours ago. You will not really enjoy the pork lechon that was roasted many hours ago just as we do. And yes, halo-halo is suppose to be mix-mix before you savor the flavour.
