There is no more ubiquitous chain in the entire world than McDonald's. Well, maybe except Starbucks! But Starbucks actually has not caught on in some countries, particularly those with a strong coffee culture. McDonald's, on the other hand, has been a hit in almost every country that it has locations in, and China is no exception!
Unlike Starbucks, where the menu is not as different than in America, McDonald's in China is localized and tailored to local tastes. There are a few Asian menu items thrown into the mix, such as a fried chicken and bamboo wrap with mushu sauce that resembles a Chinese street food, but also they have many western food items that seem to be catered to the tastes that Chinese people want in Western foods. These include dark meat roast chicken leg sandwiches, angus beef burgers, fried chicken, and more!
I think many vloggers tend to exaggerate how great McDonald's and 7 Eleven are abroad. While I do agree that their quality is probably better than in the states, at the end of the day they are still just fast food restaurants and you shouldn't expect too much. We will be offering an honest review and trying the China McDonald's menu and see if Chinese McDonald's indeed is as good as the vloggers say!
