18:28 oh, how well I know this - there is ALWAYS sth that brakes - ideally at 9 P.M. and you cannot start your car to get to the parts store to get the part you\ve just broken. Luckilly I can use my bike and the parts store is only 40 minutes (by bike) away. And then you need to get back. By bike. And then repair the car... unless you want to keep cycling. Well sometimes repairing your car by yourself can keep you in a pretty good shape :)

One small advice - The rear calliper pistons can be moved back using a VCDS. The price of the cable+software is not bad at all. :) The allroad Is lovely! :)
@nigel-Rollercam-channel
@nigel-Rollercam-channel 3 года назад
I saw the motors on the rear callipers, I have not used that functionality of VCDS, I am going to give that a shot, Thank you! I know you advice wasn't intended for me, Cheers!
@SamuliKostamo
@SamuliKostamo 3 года назад
You can also just push quick connect fittings with wires in them to the female plug on the e-brake motor and connect them straight to the battery. If the motor doesnt move when you connect the battery, reverse the wires and run it until it until the motor stops turning automatically. Then just push the pistons in by hand, do your thing and run the same steps in reverse. It is important to drive the e-brake motor back in after the maintenance. Otherwise the car might get confused since it thinks that the e-brake is engaged while it is not. Goes without saying, that you should have your battery negative disconnected while doing this. Just did the rear brakes on my 2011 A4 like this. Worked wonders without having to have VCDS on hand.
@nigel-Rollercam-channel
@nigel-Rollercam-channel 3 года назад
@@SamuliKostamo That makes a lot of sense, just power the motor independently and listen for the pitch change as it bottoms out or tops out the piston. Then make sure that the module "knows" which position it has been parked in.

I really like your approach to fixing up your cars, you make mistakes and you move one when you do. I wish I had the same understanding of my engines, and the tools to fix them up myself. Got a 1998 volvo XC70 project car, with a leaking turbo and my daily is a 2008 Toyota rav4 with a blown head gasket and it is at the shop atm. I've made it my goal this year to maintain the cars myself (oil changes, and brake/pads changes), hopefully I can follow through on this, I'd really like to see my XC70 back on the road. Such a sick ride when it drives!

As a bonus some c6 owners have problems with rear wiper motor and rear window spray, steering wheel lock module, door locks electronics, positive terminal under the hood melting , door bottom starting to rust, third brake light does not work. If you have arms growing up from the right place (not from the ass), 50 percent of these malfunctions you can repair by self without breaking up surrounding parts
