I just returned from a 3,000 mile trip using the TST color model. I have a 36' Winnebago pulling a car dolly and a Chrysler Sebering so a total of 10 sensors. I had my repeater ready to go and never needed it. Nice surprise. My wife and I really enjoyed the peace of mind that our older rv tires and the others were running at the proper pressure and temps.

Eric, great comparison of the 2 products. Over the last 13 years I have owned both 2 sets of TireMinder and I am currently running TST for the last 4 years. The reasons I prefer TST is for the adjustable alarm settings, auto scroll, dependability, warranty and technical support. I have adjusted the alarms several times due to elevation and ambient temperature. The auto scroll is a must for me. All I have to do is glance over every 5 seconds to see what is happening with each tire. To date, TST is extremely dependable. In 4 years I had one issue that was quickly resolved with the manufacturer. With the TireMinder I had multiple problems and went through 2 set ups. Your assistance with technical support is priceless. One call or one email and you and Tami always respond and I thank you.

Hey Steve, glad you are loving the TST. We have had so many people that need the adjustable settings because of the different climates they go in and out of, and I cant imagine just having to suffer through a system alarming for nothing. Luckily that wont happen with the TST. Safe travels!

What an excellent review, chocked full of actual specs! I also appreciate your opinions at the end. I am thinking the Tire Minder may be preferable to me because of the sleep mode. This data is rarely necessary, only when you have an actual problem, and the Data scrolling can be distracting.

I started out with the TireMinder and it did save me going around Ft. Worth TX, it gave me plenty of time to pull over. I saw the TST at the Open Range RV Owners Coming Home Rally 2 years ago and purchased the 507 Gray monitor (the color was not available yet), The next year the the color monitor was out and I purchased it. The reason I I changed TPMS were the same that you pointed out, the TST does not go to sleep and it scrolls through the tires and you can see each one without having to remove your hands from the wheel. I like the color monitor over the gray but it is sometimes a little hard to see the color depending on the sunlight. My vote is for the TST but any is better than none! As far as the TireMinder, I gave it to my Son in law for his family's TT. We are in the middle of a cross country, and Canada & Alaska trip and I check my 507 every day as we are driving (total mileage will be around 18,000 miles) ........Very good review even though some are suggesting that you chose the one you sell, I replaced my TM for the same reasons.!

Thanks, Jeff. Yeah, we make no bones about the fact that we choose (and sell) only one solution to a problem like the TST, WeBoost, Surge Guard, etc. As full time RVers, we've tried a lot of the products and definitely pick a favorite. We try to present just the facts when we make comparison videos, but it's hard to hide our favor completely. Thanks for watching!

@TechnoRV, Great video. I am getting ready to retire and plan on extensive traveling and was wanting a tire monitoring system. One of the the things I am looking for for is something that has an APP since my wife and I have expensive smart phones and we even have a laptop and with the new trucks having an AC outlet it just makes since to multi-purpose as much as possible. Does anyone one have a system that uses an App or do you know if TST or TireMinder are working on an app??
@Technorv
@Technorv 4 года назад
Thanks, Bill! TireMinder now has a TPMS system that has an app that can display your tire information. TST is not currently exploring this option due to the many distracted driving laws that prohibit drivers from using or having phones out while driving. We definitely prefer having a dedicated monitor just for our TPMS, but you do have options now as it relates to apps and monitors. Hope this helps!

The best defense against blowouts is a preventative like FlatOut trailer formula and a TST system to monitor. Yes they are compatible with external sensors.

Thanks, that's a very helpful comparison. I don't think you mentioned readability. How is the daytime readability of the color TST unit? Is it bright enough in bright light? Can the intensity be adjusted down at night? How is the nighttime readability of the LCD TST unit? Is it backlit? Is the backlight adjusted manually or automatically?
@Technorv
@Technorv 4 года назад
The TST color unit has good readability in daylight as long as the sun is't shining directly on it. As with an device, that would drown out the color. As far as nighttime, the screen is lit well plus with the back background, it is not so bright that it is distracting, It does have a auto dim though, but no manual dim switch.

In one of your replies you mentioned that TST has done some improvements since this video. Can you please provide the most up-to-date model number for the TST TPMS? Also, is there a particular TST models that might come with 10 mixed sensors (6 flow through and 4 cap)? Thank you
@Technorv
@Technorv 4 года назад
HI Ruth! Yes, TST has made some updates on the monitor. The added 2 spare tire positions and brightened the display. It is still considered the TST 507, but you would want to be sure you are buying the newest model and not from someone who is still selling the old monitor. Also, any TST 507 System you buy can handle both the flow thru and cap sensors on the same monitor. We use it with 6 flow thru sensors on our RV and 4 cap sensors on our Jeep. On this listing, you can mix and match your system: www.technorv.com/tst-flow-thru-system-with-4-to-12-sensors/ I hope this helps! If you have any more questions, just let me know.

Hi Jeff, This was a review of the Tire Minder A1A versus the TST. The A1A was the monitor unit that they displayed at this years Tampa RV Super Show so it is the most current model. We can see about looking at the other unit that they have but we are finding that RVers are steering away from App driven units because of the distracted driver laws. I don't have any experience with it so could not speak to it further than that, but I do appreciate your comment.
@jeffpusser4275

TechnoRV Thank you for your response. You are correct about the app driven product, however, I don’t see the difference between having my iPhone in a cradle with the tired monitoring screen active and monitoring vs the provided screen that TST and others provide. All are equally distracting because they are simply something extra that you have to look at while driving. Again, thanks for your response.

Is there a preference on cap vs pass through on higher rated tires...I have G rated tires on my truck and fifth wheel. Would the pass through have an issue with the higher pressures?

HI Aaron. The only consideration between cap and flow through is whether your valve stem is metal or rubber. PSI doesn't make a difference with which one you use. Here is a video that Eric made to help people make the decision between cap and flow through: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vIIqEbkD4fQ.html

@@Technorv Thank you! My other question is there any analytics showing failure rates between the two styles? Does one fail more frequently than the other?
@Technorv
@Technorv 4 года назад
@@BigRedWight Not that we know of. Personally, we have not seen a failure rate higher on one type of sensor over the other. When used correctly and on the right type stem (flow through sensors on metal only), the sensors both work the same.
@roybertalotto6355
@roybertalotto6355 5 лет назад
I've had a TST now for about three years. It works fine except for one glaring issue. When hooking up the trailer, it sometimes takes up to half an hour for the monitor to find a sensor.....this is not good while boondocking in BLM areas as the potential for tire failure is very high as I am leaving a campsite on a unmaintained road. Also, once I disconnect the trailer, it can take up to 45 minutes for the monitor to realize there is no trailer attached. I can be miles away from the trailer and it is still reporting the trailer tire parameters. If a wheel was to fall off, I wouldn't know it.
@Technorv
@Technorv 5 лет назад
Hi Roy! It should not be taking that long for sensors to populate or to drop off if you aren't using them. When we turn our monitor on, it only takes 5 minutes or so for all sensors to start sending information. I would contact TST directly since you may be still in the 3-year warranty and let them know what is happening. Their number is (770) 889-9102.

If you look at the page near the picture, it asks how many flow thru sensors you would like. Put 6 in there. Then under that, it asks do you want any cap sensors. @Technorv
@Technorv 4 года назад
We haven't had a chance to compare the TM77 yet, but have it on our list to do in the future. We chose the A1A because it was the unit they were selling at the Tampa RV SuperShow this year so we felt it was the most popular system for TireMinder at the time. The TST has been improved since this video as well, so we will start looking at doing more current comparisons soon. Thanks for commenting!

@Technorv
@Technorv 2 года назад
We do not sell the Guta. Price is not the top thing we look at when comparing and selecting products for not only our RV, but also TechnoRV. The TST and TireMinder systems have both proven to be well made and reliable over the years, and we are happy to stand behind them both. We have found that some of the less expensive models on Amazon do not have the quality we look for in a TPMS, even though the price is attractive. You may spend more for a TST or TireMinder up front, but it will be a system that works well for many many years to come. In addition, they both have 3-year warranties, so you know the company stands behind them.

It would have been nice to compare similar units, for example the TireMinder Smart TPMS compared to the TST 507. It seems like the comparison is skewed towards the brand you sell just by the units you selected to compare. This is not really a like-to-like comparison.
@Technorv
@Technorv 5 лет назад
Hi Steve! We selected the 2 units for the video based on the fact that they were the ones featured at the 2019 Tampa RV Show. TireMinder was showing the A1A and TST had the 507. The SMART TPMS may have been there too, but we find that most people looking for TPMS either want the phone app or not. The features are less important than the fact that they just want the app. While at the FMCA show this year, TireMinder was again featuring the A1A, so it must be a popular system for them. That's the unit we get the most questions about too, so the comparison made sense to us. In the future, we do plan to do more comparisons with some of the other systems out there. Thanks for the comment!
