The quality control on these Tsunami Shields and Guards (same as shied just has 1 carbon and 2 cloth drag washers instead of 3 carbon) is terrible. I bought 5 from various vendors, all have issues. Drag grease is like glue, back clips no all the way in, warp rotors or wobbly spool, missing line clips). I got one working right now. It's a beautiful and very well sealed reel and looks and feels great but why so many problems? I really wanted to like these reels.

gear ratio is too slow for salt water.. i mean 5.1? i want to reel in my fish today not tomorrow... also try to fast reel spoons with this gear ratio.. pain in the ass

It's not too slow for saltwater. A lot of what we do in the Northeast is slow and steady retrieves. Also, the lower gear ratio gives you more power.
