Thanks for the video. Great points! I also thought the Pro was too thick (from the videos and pics). Then I went into my AD, loved it, and walked out with it. Great watch.
I do like that new T-Fit clasp. That's a handy little piece of kicka$$ kit, w/ the ceramic ball bearing detents, and arguably one of the best "on the fly" adjustment systems. It'll be a game changer for sure when that innovation, makes it's way into other models across other ranges. I could see myself w/ a BB36, and a T-Fit clasp. 👍keep up the good work, ma friend. Cheers....
Good review Andrew. As much as I love the new bracelet with on the fly adjustment this is one I’d buy on the fabric strap - looks brilliant with the black against the steel.
Great review, went to my local Tudor boutique yesterday to try one on and decide between this and the BB58. Was also concerned about the thickness of the Pro but once on wrist (6.7”) that just went away and I decided I could live with it. Starting to lean more in favour of the Pro over the 58. The only problem I had is that I saw the Ranger and the first thing that popped into my head was ‘ooh la la’. I’m well aware of the marmite views that are surrounding the Ranger in the watch community at the moment , there are going to be lovers and haters, but I am absolutely the former and walked out with one on my wrist. Do I still want a Pro, hell yes, but until the dust has settled and the watch fund replenished I have the Ranger. The only thing that may change my mind over the Pro is a revised North Flag, think that may be another ‘ooh la la’ moment 🤩. Agree though that you do need to see a watch in the flesh and try it on. Makes a world of difference.
Good choice. Both are nice watches and the price is right, but I like the simplicity of the Ranger. I don’t need a GMT function or a bezel. I like that the Ranger has numbers, so I don’t have to figure out the time.
i was loving your review already and then as an owner of the North Flag got super excited. Yes, Yes, Yes. North Flag GMT would be awesome and strategically important for tudor over next decade.
I recently bought Black Bay Pro also own Rolex GMT master 2 Pepsi . I don't know what it is if is the fact you forgot after a little bit your wearing a Rolex but the Black Bay Pro is always there telling you look at me how beautiful I am is kinda addictive watch. Also you get very similar looking in all light conditions , and with my GMT Master Pepsi I fully enjoyed in the shadows, when light hits directly you can't appreciate all details just my opinion.
I really didn’t understand the hype about this watch when it was first announced but it has grown on me. I was in an AD trying the FXD yesterday and they had a display pro so I tried it on… it is a lot smaller than I thought it would be, but my god it looks good in the flesh… So I put my name down for one as well as the FXD 😂
Really wanted a GMT as travel a lot and started to look at Explorer 2 as serious option. I like the explorer 2 but don’t love it and honestly prefer the design of the BB Pro particularly vintage vibe and cool dial. Bought one last week and with £5000 left in change to buy the wife an Oyster Perpetual it’s a no brainer for me.
First things first, amazing to see the subscribers go up mate! You’re really nailing it! Congrats! Secondly, I’ve been umming and aahhrring (is that how you spell it?) over this as I already have the Rolex explorer 2. What’s your opinion on having both? Will I get it and just end up leaving it on the drawer??? Are they different enough to justify both??? Cheers bud!
I really like it! I tried it on in the hybrid strap and loved both the look and feel. the new bracelet is an obvious improvement on old one now it adjusts and I don't mind the rivets but like you say what's the point. Great review of a great watch, cheers 🍻 ps did you win the cricket 🏏
Great review. I’d be interested in a white dial version! Fake rivets don’t bother me too much, but I agree, would prefer without. Wonder whether the new bracelet on the Ranger, without rivets, will fit other models and/or whether that design will make its way across the lineup. Cheers
You always make me giggle Andrew. Love your take on any watch you review. I think we have similar tastes tbh and also roughly the same level of addiction. Or is this just what we’re all like…? Tudor, hmm… I’d have the silver 925 bb on leather for sure… How’s the Rolex fitting in…?
Loving the Rolex mate,, it's amazing!! But very bling and not always a good idea to wear it. Cheers Dave, glad you enjoyed the video,, if we are all this addicted then there isn't much hope for us 😆
@@watchandrew I’m getting better mate. Still want a Milgauss , I have my name down but I told him that I don’t want to hear from him for a while. Lol. Like next year. Please don’t call me Mr Rolex, please no….🙏
Riveting stuff Andrew. Looks like you’ll be wanting the 2022 Tudor Ranger based on your comments on the Pro. Any chance of a review on one of those. Thanks as always. ✌️
If we add the endless minutes of lume fun together then no doubt it adds up to hours. I love your review. I will say that the more I see this, the more I like it. Especially when you compare it to the sad plain jane Ranger than just came out...yeesh what a loser that is. Great videography man.
Nice review - love the "f*^k me" bit and dry humour. I agree with you; still don't like those fake rivets, but I guess they would grow on me. What's your wrist size by the way?
Cheers Simon, appreciate it. 6&3/4 inch wrist. The rivets are really annoying but you do forget about them - until you take the watch off and see them again!😆
Nice review Andrew as always! Managed to try this on, but, just didn't get me to bite! I've two bb58 which i love on a individual basis, but, they're starting to become a bit vanilla. I've four Sinns now and I'm looking for another brand to talk to me, any ideas?
@@watchandrew Funnily enough I've tried the Cartier Santos and the Longines dolce vita both don't suit as their beautiful, but, too dressy for me. The Bell and Ross br05 which you reviewed was a stunner and still in the same ilk of watch. The railmaster is the Omega that stands out to me. Enjoy the channel and in particularly the Northern humour 😀
I’ve almost bought a Tudor a couple of times but something always holds me back!! Am currently considering the BB Pepsi, but is it too much of a Rolex homage?!!! This watch is nice but I also think it’s too thick, and when you can get a Christopher Ward C63 Sealander GMT for £1000, with the same or better specs I think why would you bother, other than to have a Tudor in the collection!!!🤣 Great review as always Andrew.👍
BB Pepsi (although very nice) is super thick. I would really recommend you go in to an AD and try it on (again) so you don't have buyers remorse. So many people (including myself) tell ourselves that we 'don't mind' the thickness, but a few months later, there's a high chance you're gonna be wanting to sell it.
This looks like a cool watch . Have to admit I am a fan of Tudor . If I hadn't got the black explorer 2 at the start of the year I would certainly consider adding this to the roster . Good review Andrew 👍. In total agreement with you regarding the fake rivets . Why oh why Tudor , they ruin the bracelet in my opinion so forget about vintage aesthetic and get rid of them please
Unless we are all airline pilots do we have any need for a gmt, of course not. Do we want one in our collection, of course we do as we are a helpless case !!. So do I want one, well thats a yes but not the Blackbay Pro. For a third of the price , thinner and with a movement any watchmaker worth his salt can work on, well it has to be the CW C63 Sealander GMT !!. Nothing against Tudor, I own a Blackbay 58 and a Grantour and have been sorely tempted with buying the Pro but just for once my brain cell kicked in lol.
it's such a cool watch, but I tried one on and it immediately felt too bulky. added weight from the clasp and the watch head compared to the bb58 was surprising. i bought the bb58 instead.
Hi Andrew, finally recevied this amazing piece. Quick question regarding the winding: I manually winded the watch after full stop (30 - 40 turns) and the seconds hand did not move. it only started moving ~10 sec later. its my first tudor so not sure if its normal or not. never happened to me with other manual winding watches where usually the seconds hand starts moving immediatly when reaching to 30 - 40 turns
If it fits... I could see myself spending £500 to buy the Oyster style bracelet from the new Ranger and fitting it to my Pro. I should be able to sell on the Pro's bracelet to recoup some cost if it fits on other BB's (the new T-Fit clasp is brilliant). Even if my total outlay hits £3,600, this watch remains outstanding value
@@vianouche1 don't get me wrong, I've still ordered one of these but I would much prefer it without the faux rivets. In my opinion they don't add anything aesthetically to the bracelet.
This was a great release. Quirky yet serious is what I want from Tudor, not a cheaper Rolex. As for the Ranger that dropped yesterday… wow what a disappointment. The Ranger looks like an entry level into the brand not a commemorative timepiece. The original Tudor given to the Greenland expedition crew, that the Ranger celebrates, was fantastic. All they had to do was update that design but nope. I guess bland is the new black. Speaking of black why on earth did they not give it a white dial? The expedition was in an extremely cold icy climate and the original dial was white. That to me was more than a missed opportunity it was just pure stupidity and a giant middle finger to “their” past. If you haven’t seen the original watch given to the crew take a look at what they passed up on. As for the thickness of the BB Pro it always looks good from the wrist shots I’ve seen so this may be getting overblown. I personally like ‘em thicc when the case size is smaller and have a Marathon in 36mm that’s 14mm thick. I dig that chunky look. For me it helps balance out its small stature as I have 7 1/4 wrists. I enjoy smaller watches but that’s the era I grew up in. They are proportionally better on the wrist and at some point we will see watches shrink back down to tasteful dimensions. Most watches over 40mm on my wrist look goofy/try hard/hey look at me. Back on track, the BB Pro looks tasty and I can’t wait to see it in the metal. I want one and feel Tudor is at its best when they show some flair. The North Flag was a much better watch than the buying public thought and we will see that down the road when it’s collectibility soars.
@@vianouche1 That’s fair. I see the hand shapes and yellow color as enough of a departure but that’s probably wishful thinking. I will concede it’s less original than I’d like but still argue it’s quirky. They will be successful by imitating Rolex but I really hope they start differentiating themselves more but fear the North Flag scared the hell out of them. A good watch launched at the wrong time.
The bb range all look the same. I prefer the original gmt with the pepsi bezel, but this might be more versatile as a one watch collection. I've never really understood the point to a gmt watch, unless your a business traveller. And even then how hard is it really to track another time zone if you know it's +5 Or whatever. I actually think I'd find it irritating with the extra hand when simply glancing the time, hence why I've never gone for one.
@@watchandrew I really liked the original tudor gmt, but just wish they did it without the gmt function. It could have been a lot thinner too, with the same look .
The rivet design paired with the noticeable step down of each link is the worst thing about the bracelet .. it's a shame because the t-fit clasp is perfection. Tudor ranger bracelet on Black bay pro or bb58 would be perfection
I sold my only tudor, a bb58, I don't think I'd buy another Tudor, the brand is not for me, it's getting a bit boring, I find the snowflake hand a bigger negative than the faux rivets.
Gosh, I feel the exact opposite way... I've got 4xRolex and 2xOmega I acquired over the years from the AD pre-hype... and got my BB58 blue last summer to scratch the itch of not being able to get anything from my Rolex AD... I have been wearing that thing 95% of the time since!!! On a grey nato... ultimate summer watch! I feel like if I had to choose one watch for the rest of my life gun to my head... it might have to be that one!
@@AnaInTh3Sky I've been buying watches for over 20 years, including Rolex, Omega, iwc, Tag, Longines, etc I fell for the hype when it came to Tudor, for it's all hype. If it wasn't for the Rolex connection, how many people would buy a Tudor. The brand can't stand on its own. I find all their designs to be awful and extremely boring. Glad I got rid of my bb58, won't be buying another Tudor again.
They disdnt revise the north flag because it didn’t do well commercially. All this North Flag praise is ex post facto. The public had nothing but criticism for it while it was in production. Now that it isn’t readily available people have changed their tune. Odd isn’t it.
I don’t understand why Tudor isn’t making more interesting dials, we always get the same bland black colours or a blue once in a while. Also the snowflake hand is aesthetically inadequate on watches with round hour markers. I get it on the original Submariner, but not on these.
