FULL DYNO RESULTS-PSI FOR THE OTHER GUY! 292 GETS BOOST! WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE COMBINE A CHEAP CXRACING TURBO WITH A HOME-MADE TURBO SYSTEM USING THE STOCK EXHAUST MANIFOLD? CAN WE MAKE CHEAP POWER WITH THE STOCK MANIFOLD? WILL IT SUPPLY ENOUGH BOOST? HOW WELL DOES THE CHEAP TURBO WORK? WILL THE 1966, HIGH-MILEAGE TRUCK MOTOR SURVIVE?

I love my twin turbo ls 5.3 1200hp But my favorite engines I built was my 1950 235 inline with a weiand supercharger on it. It would turn heads at back to the fifties in st Paul and street machine national's like crazy!! With that blower off to one side and it made over 350hp . 30 over mcgurk pistons a berry's cam Clifford manifold modified and Clifford true length headers and HEI ignition. And the dumb ass I sold it too put a 350 and turbo 350 trans in it!!! Cool you just made it like all the rest boring!!!!!

@@donellmuniz590 yep, I subscribed to #CarCraft since the late '80s and loved that publication until around 10 or 12 years ago I finally let my subscription lapse. Every issue became repetitive stuff that was done a few issues earlier and just AMC Rambler, Ebay turbo, DIY BLAH, & blah blah blah....

That would be great. I dont even watch the LS stuff. Yeah, it's tough, its fast, its everywhere, but I'm sick of em. I wanna see what can be done with old, quirky, antiquated, obsolete technology. More of an engineering challenge. It would be much harder (and more expensive) to try to build a 400hp FLATHEAD than a 2000hp LSX. How much is a set of repop Ardun hemi heads for a flattie? $5000 with the valvetrain?

Yes! I love to see it. You know, even with that big turbo, the soggy response probably helps make power SBE. If you had a smaller 3-400 hp turbo that came in earlier, you'd hit the motor with more torque (cylinder pressure) and maybe hurt the bottom end. But! Imagine someone with a dirt simple old truck or 4 door nova or something. A setup like this could push that thing into the 13s or maybe even 12s for very very little money! That's value right there.

Pretty much everything that AussieSpeed sells is pretty damn nice.

Offenheuser still markets two intake manifolds that support a Holley four barrel carb also.

I'd love to see one of those. Long runners, I suppose?

@@lloydholt6511 I believe they also have one for 2 of the original Rochesters. Maybe even 3.

I'm buying a 1988 G10 van with this engine for 900 dollars and not one dent in the van nowhere!! My goal now is to turbo charge it!!! 😀😎

I really wish turbos were popular when I had my 250 straight 6 Camaro. Could've been fun

You're thinking of this all wrong, it's not that you have too much turbo it's that you have room to put on a bigger H/C/I. :D

Its nice to see you used the proper tool for the job (nut driver). So many on the Tv shows using flat blade screw drivers! That makes me scream at the tv!!!

Great to see all the steps! Thank you for the timing and jetting numbers. I LIKE DETAILS!😁 As much as i really want to see a built motor, I'd like to see a good intake and a proper size turbo (with good ignition of course) on the stock engine, for us budget guys. These L6 parts add up quick. Those almost 7" long rods and 1600+ gram pistons are going to be the limiting factor on the stock bottom end. 12Bolt Tom Lowe has the answer with his forged rod and piston setup. Give him a call Richard! He may just hook you up!
