Look up how a turbo works on a car. It's the same thing except it's burning wood instead of gasoline

Basically a jet engine that burns wood instead of kerosene.

The smoke and hot air from the wood fire spins the turbine part of the turbo, which in turn spins the compressor part that forces more air in. Think of 2 connected fan blades, one powered by exhaust which makes the other move air. By forcing more air in the fire can burn stronger, creating more hot air and smoke. The guy on the right used compressed air to help the turbo spool up, as the fire didn't produce enough hot air to make the turbo spin fast enough, but once it was on it managed to power itself. The guy in the back is pumping oil as turbos spin at several 10000 rpm, so lubrication is very important. The guy on the front left is keeping the lid shut as the fire is under positive air pressure and to make sure all the smoke goes through the turbo. If he lifts it smoke and extra air can escape and the turbo will slow down

If you can't understand this fully from just looking at it, you have *zero* business fucking around with anything similar. This is literally just two pieces of pipe and an old turbo charger with some oil to keep it lubricated.

Turbos get more efficient with higher exhaust temps. You only need to keep the bearings cool, and this is achieved through the oil.

There should be one of you wanne run it for a longer time. Seen multiple videos where these explode because of overheating. In real jets they devert cool airt trough the turbine blades to cool the whole thing down
