One great thing I learned after getting my anxiety tool box of techniques( breathing, grounding, CBT techniques) under my belt, was to tell myself whenever anxiety came on was, " Oh cool. This is a great chance to practice my anxiety tools, so thank you anxiety". This rethinking took my anxiety's power away. Also never try to fight your anxiety. It loves a good fight. Just learn to accept the feeling and ask what is it trying to teach you this moment. Hope these work for you and just know we have anxiety, but our anxiety doesn't have us.

Suffering from horrific betrayal trauma l was a young adult before I stumbled on what a panic attack even was. Decades later I now consider when I'm falling into that black hole of panic it's not about my panic attacking me. It's about who is attacking me to trigger my body's survivalistic response. My anxiety is not the enemy here just a tormented messenger. But my mind body and soul need my help in learning "further light and knowledge" through these blessed techniques to help grieve my wounded feelings. And to me that is sacred ground...

4 Ways to turn on Parasympathetic response: - Deep breathing - inhaling increases heart rate - exhaling decreases heart rate - ‘Soften’ your eyes - Relax your muscles around your eyes (touch the sides of your eyes) - Focus on softening your vision, and try to expand your awareness to the peripherals while keeping your eyeballs straight ahead - Valsava maneuver - Bare down, as if you’re passing stool - Put pressure in your chest and down to the pelvic floor and then release - Breathe for 5 seconds, hold and bare down for 5 and then breathe out for 5 seconds Just add a bit of pressure in your chest, no need to push too hard - Yawn - Make the ‘R’ sound and open the soft palette of your mouth - Do a fake yawn I wrote notes for myself so I figured I'd share it with you here in case it helps.. everything is going to be ok ❤

@@sonyajay7008 Hi Sonya, is that your beautiful cat? I have 3, I rescued them from horrible cruel lives and they repay me constantly by being by me just when I need them the most. Dont forget, putting on a couple of your favourite songs on and doing a silly dance is still beneficial- singing along too if the fancy takes you.Hard to do when your heart is in your boots and your head is spinning! It's good to recognize that your heart pounds, but you know why, remember, even an athlete's heart would beat faster during and after exercise. When I was walking home yesterday it was all uphill and my heart was thumping, I was sweating so I stopped for a breather every now and then.I also reminded myself that I was doing something that would help my recovery and that breathing in some fresh air was better than looking at 4 walls all day.Im getting up soon, and will have a little dance and sing along to Prince, David Bowie and Geirge Michael, I might not feel like it but by starting my day in a positive way it lifts my spirits. Not easy I know, I remember times when all I wanted to do was stay under my duvet and cry and shake and hide from the world but now I try to appreciate life no matter how difficult I still find it.Be kind to yourself, the most kind and loveliest people I know have suffered with anxiety and depression, none of them deserved it but all have them found ways to recover, it just took time.Peace, Inger Romantico

I do math when I start having panic attacks. It seems especially helpful when your mind is racing and catastrophizing. Doing math forces you to use the rational side of your brain which inhibits the creative side which is scaring you to death. I know math gives some people anxiety, but you don't have to bust out the old calculus book or anything. Just do basic math problems that are easy enough to do in your head so it doesn't increase anxiety, but that are still challenging enough to really force you to rationalize and prioritize. For me those types of problems are multiplying 2 double digit numbers. Ie 12x15=..... Or 29x53=. For others it might be 12+15 instead. Or factoring polynomials for others. The point is to stop using your creative brain and force your rational brain to override it. It's actually very effective during panic attacks especially when your anxiety is more mental than physical that day.

I’m surprised so many people deal with this. It gives me some type of relief knowing that I’m not alone. My anxiety/panic attacks/derealization has been heavy on me lately the past 4 months. I’ve been getting it every single day and it’s more heavy when the the sun starts to go down, I dread when it’s night time and I’m not sure why. Mines more heavy on the derealization and when it hits my panic attack try’s to come. But I do everything in my power to stay calm which usually works but it doesn’t mean my mind isn’t going crazy at the same time. I don’t know why everything around me starts to look unreal to me out of no where, it’s like I’m losing grip of reality and it’s a very scary feeling. I try and not let it get a hold of me because I feel like if I let it.. I feel like I’m going to black out and never wake up again. What’s been helping me is being in the sun and trying to be interactive with the world and being out. This is like a mental battle every single day and it’s quite exhausting. But I’m still thankful for this life, thankful to wake every single morning. We’re blessed to all experience this one life we have so we should cherish it every way we can. I know we have it tougher than most.. mentally, but I believe we will all get through this together. Positivity comes a long way, I know we will lose some fights some days but let’s win the war! 🙏🏻 . Nothing but love from this side and God bless all♥️

@@ckris4446 This feeling does suck, just know you’re not alone though. Mine hit heavy one night about 4 months ago and ever since that night.. I’ve been getting it every single day til now. It’s worst at night maybe because it hit me heavy that one night, I feel like it’s trauma from that heavy derealization feeling that night. I do get it during the day time sometimes. Like I can’t drive some days because right when I leave the neighborhood to enter the main road.. everything starts to look unreal instantly. Like I even walked inside a Walmart the other day and it started triggering right when I entered but I be trying my best to accept the feeling and keep it moving. This feeling is tough to deal with, it’s like a mental battle every day.. gets exhausting. I feel like this whole covid/quarantine/trap inside the house for a year and a half had something to do with it. Isolated from the world for that long you know? But I believe this is just phase and phases don’t last forever. Don’t try and fight the feeling because it will only heighten it. The best way to deal with it I feel like is to try your best to accept the feeling when it comes. Try to understand it or figure out what triggered it and just sit and relax and just let all your thoughts flow through. Don’t pay no specific attention on any thoughts, just let it all flow through. The more you accept the feeling, the more easier it is to brush it off or overcome it. Nothing in this world is easy, you just get better at it. Just stay positive, be patient with yourself and believe. We’ll get through this, we got this ☀️🙏🏻

There is the rise and fall cycle of the day, morning being birth, evening being death. A lifetime in a day. There could be some existential dread behind the anxiety. I know there is in mine. Fear of any kind is fundamentally connected to fear of death. As horrible as it is to have anxiety, I must say it makes perfect sense to me, given our vulnerable mortal situation, if you are truly sensitive to it, it is a horror. I say, to be anxious is to be emotionally sensitive to your real situation. But there is a way beyond anxiety, and I say that is the purpose of anxiety, to compel us to surrender to infinity, to surrender the self-idea, the sense of separation, and become One with "It". Meditate.

I never suffered from anxiety until I got Long Covid. Afterwards I had a few symptoms that weren't going away, including for the first time anxiety before performing. I've been a storyteller and performer since I was a child, and couldn't understand it until I learned about somatic mindbody work. My crocodile brain felt unsafe as I went back to work too soon and had a Covid nerve storm AFTER performing. I knew it was a one-time event, my brain didn't. Your videos helped me understand what was happening and calm my nervous system. With a few months of doing somatic tracking, self-hypnosis, visualization, and somatic tracking - I went back to performing and got 20 wonderful comments! I have little trouble performing again, and my Covid symptoms have all disappeared, and I'm fully active again. Lots of sympathy to people who've suffered anxiety all their lives from trauma! I was horrifically depressed since childhood. It was relentless. I assumed it would ultimately end me somehow. About twelve years ago I randomly accepted the offer from a friend of a few doses of mushrooms. I did them two consecutive nights alone. First night was pretty mild. The second night? Wow. I saw my depression from every angle, realized much. Next day: depression totally gone. Never came back, never coming back. It's like it's a forest far away I can remember, and could probably find again with enough effort, but it has zero impact on anything in my life or mind. They honestly saved my life and improved it immensely. I never did them again, either. I wish there was a good, organized way to administer them to people who would benefit from them.

I was having abrupt, intense anxiety this morning which manifested in a feeling of dread as well as itching all over my body that wouldn’t go away. I found your video and did the techniques and immediately noticed improvements. It was enough of an effect to really make me believe that I had control over how I was feeling. Feeling powerless to stop it had only perpetuated it but this video helped me make the mental shift necessary to go in a different direction. Within the next twenty minutes or so I felt completely better. Thank you so much.

Just wanted to let you know how much you helped me. I have suffered from a low level kind of anxiety for a long time. I got really good and distractions, but last week the distractions quit working cold. I ended up going to urgent care, thinking i was having a heart attack. They did all the tests and said nope you just having an anxiety attack they gave me some pills and told me to contact my doctor. I spend two miserable days going from sleepy pill to racing heart and then i found your videos. They helped a little on the very 1st try and I have been doing the things you suggested every day since . I am feeling some much better now. So thank you for taking the time to put this information out there.

What I like about your videos is that you have the ability to explain somewhat complicated matters in clear terms -- perhaps a majority of people don't have this ability to make clear explanations, as it is an unrecognized talent. But with you, one comes away with the insights you have made crystal clear.

I have been dealing with anxiety, ptsd, and many more similar issues for 12+ years. Your techniques have really begun to sink in my head. I am finding myself way more comfortable when out and about with horrible anxiety. I would like to hear more about the Vegas Nerve as well. I heard you mention the circular motion in two places in my ears. This seems to really have a positive effect on me. All of your videos, tips, techniques, and explanations have been so beneficial for me. I once felt that this was it, I would be suffering like this forever. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. ❤️

@@ezpaige2675 Your breath is directly related to your mind [brain] causing anxiety-stress. For a relaxed life without anxiety-stress sit on a chair, back erect, hands on lap with palms upwards, eyes closed, be still and observe your natural incoming--outgoing breath and body sensations for around 10-15 minutes. Be as still as possible. Many thoughts will come which is ok--slowly negative thoughts will reduce and your mind will relax. During your daily activity keep observing your breath consciously. Best part is mood swings also reduce. Do the above meditation daily to feel relaxed. I’ve struggled with anxiety for about 20 years and can honestly say I’m learning much more with you in the last few weeks than I have in those 20 years! Everything you say makes so much sense and it’s the techniques for calming the body down when you’re anxious is what really makes a difference. Through listening to you, I’ve learned that my body can calm me down when my thoughts can’t! You’re making such a difference - thank you, thank you, thank you ❤️

I agree with you 100%! I've struggled with ptsd for ten years I didn't know about the valsalver manoeuvre or the yawn technique. I've just tried both - after a strange man threatened me and my dog and made me very anxious - it worked straightaway! We learn so much from our furry babies yawning and shaking stress off! Best wishes and calm vibes to you☺💐

Learning to bear down was something I've missed all these years trying to do deep breathing to relax. it's the key to the whole thing, for myself. And your explanation that you should just pretend you''re having a hard bowel movement did the trick. Who knew the pelvic floor was that easy to find! Thank you so much.

This was an incredible video. I have subconsciously been doing some of these for years. I always use breathing techniques to lower my blood pressure at the Dr's office. All that said, it never hurts to watch someone that has mastered these techniques to help me calm down. Thanks!

I also use progressive muscle relaxation by starting at the feet and squeezing the muscles and bones really hard, hold for a couple seconds, then release. Continue moving up the body with each body part until you reach the head. Do a good one here involving all facial muscles and skull. It works really well to release anxiety in the muscles. I do this as soon as I get into bed to make sure I"m not holding tension in my body. It really helps to sleep. Thanks for your great advice!!
