Subscribe to me for more videos ! In this video I’ll explain the turret clutch system operation, show you mine in stages of disassembly, the parts involved, then reassembly. I’m not currently a Pinsetter mechanic, I have my 20 foot stub lane setup in my garage and enjoy working on it plus explaining how it all works. Hope you enjoy. Give me a thumbs up, drop me a comment, but most of all subscribe to my page and share it around! / @garagebowlingalley and on Facebook / garagebowlingalley

Those were the best friction disc facings

I’m glad your Turret Pulley wasn’t worn out really bad cause the Short Turret Belt would rub against it and that’s where you find the irritating Turret Whine.

It wasn’t the nicest looking pulley. It’s got old brass face pads snd definitely could see some wear but enough meat on both to keep them in use.

When you hear a turret squealing when it is in idle the small pulley on the short turret belt has been polished from years of sitting there turning against that belt which creates a harmonic resonance like rubbing your finger over a balloon except in a greater speed causing the high pitch squeal

The AMF pins have a really nice sound to them when the ball makes contact with them, nice video 👍🏻

Thank you. Luckily a friend at a local center hooked me up with 20 pins to run. I think now I have a set of almost everything. Old score kings, the new score kings, amf, colored pin set, even an old set of Mixers too

Very good video! Great lighting too. That's what most people seem to be missing, but this was nice and clear!

Thank you. I thought it was better than trying to use a flashlight so I did use a light stand and also the camera light as necessary. It was dark !

@@GarageBowlingAlley Yeah it usually is very dark, but your solution did the trick!

I enjoy explaining the Pinsetter plus it helps me keep sharp. And as I found out that one bell crank was pretty loose so I tightened it up while everything was opened up.

@@GarageBowlingAlley So it’s the turret clutch that makes that characteristic “whine” I’ve heard from Brunswick A-2’s over all these years of bowling.

Yes. Worn out facings or someone left the machine on and it’s been idling a while. Then they sing. Sometimes the belt if it’s glazed over can make the sound too but it’ll interrupt every time a pin indexes and the turret advances.

I'd hate to see a ball stick on someones thumb and go flying into that chevy.

Likewise! So far it’s never come close. These old rubber balls have pretty good sized thumb holes. No one has used a personal ball on this setup before

Brilliant and well-explained video rob. I'm new to learning about these machines but I come from a software development background, so it's fascinating to see this kind of engineering. Would you consider doing a video about how the turnaround pan works? I've not been able to find much info on how this part works

I know that this a older video but do you know if the motors for this machine are still available? I have a chance to get a a2 without the motors for 500 not sure if that's a good deal being I'm new to this but id like to get a pinsetter when I have a chance maybe in two

I wonder if you could find a couple of sets of Brunswick Score King pins with the double red stripe around the neck, like maybe look on EBay or somewhere like that?
@GarageBowlingAlley
@GarageBowlingAlley 3 года назад
I’ll watch Craigslist and see I threw the old school score kings in for a while. Got the new rake arm installed. It’s so smooth looking now

I'm just curious to know if you might have Brunswick Score King pins with the double stripe around the neck like the AMF pins have? If you do, could you do a video with the Brunswick Score King pins with the double stripe around the neck?

I have the ones with crowns and the ones from the early 1970s as well but no stripes. I think I have a set of almost everything
