twenty one pilots - Chlorine (REACTION/REVIEW) 

The song is basically about Tyler metaphorically using chlorine, which is a cleanser, to purify himself of the dark thoughts inside him, which for him, “chlorine” is writing. He talks about how writing songs is cathartic for him, BUT if he over-relies on it, making music can be harmful to his mental health, especially now that it is his source of income. And the little creature, whose name is Ned, is supposed to be a representation of creativity. They’re filling the pool up with chlorine for him but each time it’s not good enough so they have to go get more and keep adding to the pool. Finally he decides it’s good enough and jumps in and his horns start to grow. That’s like Tyler with his songwriting. Working on a song until it’s just how he wants it and he thinks it’s good enough to put out. Then at the end of the video, the pool is empty and Tyler looks tired. Which kind of represents the cycle of tøp making an album, putting the album out for people to hear, and starting the process all over again.

This visual instead finds Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun playing two pool cleaners who encounter a furry alien creature named Ned during their rounds. Speaking to the Russian social media service VK, Tyler Joseph explained that Ned is "a very important person" to the duo, and in the video they're introducing him to rest of the world. "Ned really does kind of represent a lot of things but specifically, I guess you would say it really represents this idea of creativity and trying to take care of it and trying to please it, or appease it," Joseph added. "It's kinda that thing in you that tells you whether or not something is good. And when you get to the stage that we're at, you realize that listening to that becomes more and more important because a lot of people start talking and trying to influence you and the decisions you can make creatively. Yeah, Ned saved us," he concluded. "We made the record we made because of Ned."

The transition of this song is amazing. Starts like an upbeat song and ends with the emotional part of “can you build my house with pieces, I’m just a chemical”. Twenty one pilots is a band very far away of being simple. Everything has an explaination which makes this band so interesting. If you are interested in the visuals I recommend you watch Lane Boy, Fairy Local, Heavydirtysoul, Car Radio or Jumpsuit. Great reaction! Greetings!

Thanks so much you guys for coming back around to Twenty One Pilots. It's difficult to dissect their videos and songs sometimes if you don't follow them religiously. Tyler is really just trying to communicate the artistic process of writing music and how draining it can be at times. I would suggest their video Fall Away Live ft.Dr.Blum, Lane Boy, Ode to Sleep, or Migraine.

Yeah,definelty check the whole trench album,u wont be disappointed...btw he isnt mentioning weed,chlorine is a metaphore for him cleaning his head from bad thoughts and the monster called Ned represents the fans and the pool represents their music,when the pool is finally filled and perfectly ready,Ned jumps in and enjoys it...but there are also a lot of metaphores and dept in the lyrics by themself,thanks for reacting!

To me the song is about his relationship with making music. On one hand it’s therapeutic for his soul to create music. And on the other hand it also tortures him. He gets obsessive about finding the perfect beat...perfect everything. The monster might represent his creativity/artistry. It grows during the process of making music. But ends up draining the host.
