This song hits hard. Never thought I'd hear Twenty One Pilots release a "punk"/"anti-establishment" song. But I'm so glad they did. Obviously like you say, it can be taken in DEMA context or in reality with the government/media. Its brilliant

Brilliant song, quite political in a way. He doesn’t do it brutally but he hits you in the face with what’s happening in the world right now. Great reaction 👍🏻

This album does a good job sneaking in some political lines. One of my favourite lines from the album is in Redecorate "He might have made it if he lived on a different street"
@hi_there2757

i dont think its necessarily political tho. This album goes along with they’re story line with dema and the niners so i think its more about how “dema” is manipulating them.

Twenty One Pilots is saving the world by waking people up in this world by using catchy songs to help us all. Edit: They're doing it all they've got a whole story going on and they are also informing people.

I think this song has two messages: one is a commentary on the media of today and how they manipulate information to their POV, whatever that is. As far as they Dema narrative goes, I think this is about how the bishops, Dema, etc. constantly tell us we're not good enough, that we can't beat them, etc.

I took the line ‘You need to educate yourself but not to much’ as a warning. You need to pay attention and seek the truth but be careful that it does not bring you down, don’t the rabbit hole. I just recently woke up to the deceptive media, politicians, so much more. Once I saw it, I couldn’t unsee it. Truth can be a burden, recognition can or painfully but most of all, being divide makes you lonely.

I agree. I hope this does make it on the radio. I feel the same with this song as with “we didn’t start the fire” or some of the more political critique songs from late 60’s and 70’s (the Vietnam war era). It would be great to have it out there to the masses. have it hit listeners and inspire introspection and growth. I still do this listening to songs in the car man!! You’re not the only One

Weaponize could also apply to the new symbol which is psi (or sai) the Greek letter which looks like the Sai a trident like weapon... very interesting rn I’m not sure if this is from the perspective of the Bishops or the Banditos...

Great reaction! I was very excited when I heard this song the first time. I thought, YES, this so needs to be said. Thank you Tyler. And Josh. Love this song, and I agree, I wish they would play this on the radio and get people to wake up and think. Loved how in the Livestream this song followed the red sirens and car on fire visuals. That's been our past year. I hope this one really catches on. I love it! And Tyler on the guitar... :) 🔥

The whole essence of this album is that it delivers very strong messages all the way but most importantly and "delberately" as Tyler said it, in a poppy and happy vibe music. Its the irony of the world of how all the different kinds of people trying to 'weaponize' us use all the sweet and politically correct terms. I think that's brilliant cause only thing more scarier than darkness is darkness with the most light!

i think you're right that this song is a double meaning for what's going on in the world right now as well as being controlled by Dema - one of my favorites (i think i say this about every song on the album though) It almost seems like the "Neon Gravestones" of this album where Tyler needed to get something off his chest, yet it can still relate to the story

When I’m sitting here specifically waiting for a line & you to go -Wow! The themes in this song are so real & relevant & overlooked. I think this comes from the mess he ended up in from his tweet - prime example of them trying to weaponise us

@dune6528

storywise, i believe this is a warning from tyler to the clique about dema. this album is so "happy" but thats just dema trying to get into our heads. when he said "theyre asking for a second try" could be how dema is making them make all this happy music to make them think demas a happy place, not what clancy and the trench album were saying about it. also the "now that they know information" could about how the bishops discovered the dmaorg,info website and all of clancys entries. hes trying to warn us to not let them, and this change get into our heads. (my interpretation)

Normally these songs are condescending and one sided and I usually hate them because they are are only written from one perspective... As someone with my own strong political opinions, I appreciate this song for being a song that anyone can bop with as long as they aren't radicalized. It's something anyone can agree with?
@ethanp1348

There are some big clues that this song will be a single, so there's a good chance people will hear this one on the radio! Edit: Also, as far as I'm aware, there's only one song that's fully written to tie into the Dema storyline, and that's No Chances. All the other songs have meanings that don't relate to Dema.
@pupdawn
@pupdawn 3 года назад
Actually Most of the Songs have double meaning that fit into the dema Storyline. But they are more hidden because this Album represents demas Propaganda and Tyler and Josh are trapped in Dema by the bishops and they control what they did

@johniversen1539

They're trying hard to weaponize you and I means that the bishops are trying to do to the people within DEMA, and Tyler what they did to Josh, and make them into bishops, or possesed by bishops. They're asking for a second try is reffering to the music video that Nico captures Tyler. I personally think that Tyler escaped, and is no blending in agreeing to sing the propoganda for the bishops throughout the album, and isn't posesed which is reffered to in the song when it says that they are asking for a second try, but Tyler will resist(We'll never take it.

I think that this song (along with some of the other ones in this album) is usually seen as political to people just listening to it, but the people that are going along with the story line see it as referring to dema.

Tyler plays the electric guitar in this one, I think it is his first official guitar solo (at least the only one they showed on the live stream). Themes: the media, Dema and Tyler probably distracted himself by learning to play the guitar last summer.

Throughout the album, you need to put the truth in quotations in the lyrics because it is very far, and few between in the album, but Tyler does leave hidden messages in the songs that fans can look out for even though most of it is lies told from the perspective of the bishops that are making Tyler sing most of these songs.
