TWICE 'The Best Thing I Ever Did' Reaction 

For some reason this song makes me wanna cry. And not in a bad way, it just feels kind of nostalgically happy. I think it does convey that weird happy feeling that you can only get in Christmas when you're with your loved ones and you feel very happy, but at the same time, it's like the end of the year and you look back to it with a sad-happy feeling. Remember Inside-Out? Well, that. And the video might help in giving that feeling, but I do think the song by itself has the sad-happy vibe. And I actually love it. I like most Christmas songs, but I feel they always are too happy and cheerful and ignore the mixed feelings of ending a year. The best way I can put the feeling in words is "We've come a long way, and we're really happy now, and we are gonna try to keep being happy even though the fact that we won't be able to live again the good things we went through this year that's about to end is quite sad"... yeah, maybe I shouldn't have tried... It might be just me that feels this mix of feelings in Christmas but I highly doubt it. I loved this song and I think it's my favorite Christmas song this year even though there are some things I don't quite like. P.S. I dig the trap here :3

I feel like the song sounds cold but the lyrics are warm.

I wouldn't say cold, but melancholy. I get how Christmas songs are designed to kinda feel "generic", or to have a very similar feel to each other. The trap beat kinda works against that, but in this case I kinda like it. I've never been much for nostalgia, though, so I always enjoy the subtle blending of elements. Overall, it's still a very simple and pretty song. From what I understood, this song was Twice's gift to Once, a love song for their fans, in a way. That's just sweet.

I love how it's not that Christmasy so I can listen to it everyday without being reminded of the word Christmas. And I' a sucker for nostalgic songs. I think that's why I cried the first time I listened to it

The odd thing is that, JYP himself did the "hook" but nothing else, even though he liked it he said he didn't complete the whole song so he send the hook to other composers and lyricsss in the company. At the and along with Park Jimin, JYP himself and the other composers made this song. And that trap beat actually comes from other composers' Jimin's rnb soul and taste i guess :)) anywaysss I Thank you guys both for reacting this as a Once :)♡

oof your mention about how the song made you feel cold: tbh I feel the same way, I'd think it's that a large amount of the sounds at the back are more fragmented and clear, kind of like a bell, but shorter and lighter, which could be why it makes you feel like you're playing outside in the snow. The fact that they steered away from longer notes (more or less) kept the song from letting you get comfortable and therefore giving that warm vibe. Idk it's just what I think with my limited knowledge in music lolol.

at first i was kinda taken back by the trap feel too, but then it grows on me, it sounds quite unique and rhythmic (??) for a christmas song lol, anw now this is one of my most fav song of twice

Honestly I liked the song a lot and listen to it almost everyday. And while it feel cold I feel like it's intended to go with the MV who's cold ( TWICE said that the storyline is that they are all alone and lonely and then with the ticket they each hold take the train to reunite after a long time) I personaly felt that the song sound "empty" (idk how to explain myself better) At the end of the day this song was simply a gift , wasn't supposed to be promoted and have deep meaning for ONCEs and TWICE alike so I'm satified with it. BE AS ONE is still the ONCE anthem tho

Holiday songs tend to use sleight bells and sleight beat. The choppy phrasing sure is easier for the girls taking turns to sing. TBH, holiday songs, if well liked, are big royalty makers for years (Mariah Carrey and Wham! Can vouch for it). But the challenge has always been, how do you compose a holiday song to be a classic? The old staples keep being played on radio during the holiday season is why it is so hard to make a classic. Even Beyoncé hasn’t come up with an original holiday song that’d be played for decades to come. Most artists can only remake classic songs for a quick cash.
