Nick, I have quite literally looked through every comment up until I made my own, so I think while you probably didn't mean it maliciously, you should change the thumbnail because the title of the video with that thumbnail is disrespectful and implies something bad. I really like your channel Nick and you seem like my type of RU-vidr, but I just wanted to let you know how I and many of the other viewers here felt.
why are you ALL STYLED LIKE OUR CULTURES ????????????????????????????????????? ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Not only that french rap is like a deep genre with lots of artists and the french are very proud on their language. So doofus then entered the chat and did something hilarious that i could only describe as bludgeoning with culture.
The only space I ever joined was one hosted by Danny Gonzales and it was just a room full of people going “oooooohhh spoooky wooooo” and making haunting ghost ghoul noises
@@nicolelewis5237 Haha they didn’t say anything negative, no. When Nick started talking, one of them just said “Oh fuck he started speaking English and you all stuttered”.
the most disturbing thing about the racism section is how absolutely confident and loud-spoken the host is. it was really off-putting hearing him not veil his opinions even a little bit
There are these accounts that hide in echochambers of the internet and it molded their caveman brains into thinking the world's the same as it was in 2009
Not a presidential candidate from Kenya being in a moaning space with his verified account 😭😭😭 The worst thing abt it is he could be president because he represents the party of the current president who’s second term is ending.
@@steppenfuchs5608 unless he was in the racist one just to hear this bullshit. I went into a super misogynistic one the other day just bc I was concerned ppl actually believe the shit they say in it
Yeah that honestly felt like a healthy, encouraging space where people were just practicing their bars. Good energy there, didn’t deserve to be made fun of IMO
@@mikegorrell I feel like with that, Nick was moreso making fun of himself and trying to create a funny situation than making fun of those guys. I could be wrong though
how did that one space go from being like "haha your connection is bad, sounds crunchy. robot lol," to "who has more trauma?" the tonal switch gave me whiplash
Legal in the beggining the French people were talking about taking photos. Then they started saying that you were actually pretty decent for the freestyle! Surprisingly wholesome lol
Also as a very mixed person hearing those words hurt, I've heard them my whole life and to see that ppl will still refer to us as "mutts" like we're dogs is disgusting...
As someone in an interracial relationship, with a mixed child, I never wanted to jump through my screen and beat someone more than when he said those words. Then having the absolute audacity to say that white people are more oppressed than black people. I know that they aren't. I've seen how people treat me better than my partner. I've seen the justice system harshly punishing poc for crimes they didn't commit. People like that need to jump in a frozen lake.
I'm mixed too and I feel your pain with that conversation. It gave me immediate flashbacks to every time some one has argued to my face that I'm somehow subhuman because my parents are two different races.
@@quandaredevil Yes, because I'm the typical feminist that still acts like it's 2016. Also why does the comment bring up race out of nothing. That's something someone would do years ago.
You know what's the worst one I've discovered? A kink space where it's just dollar store doms disregarding consent and just trying to dominate every woman in the chat. It was disgusting
I'm pretty impressed that the french rapping group didn't shut you down the second you spoke english lol, but that clip of you rapping about croissants and the eiffel tower and they are all doing the fist bump emoji is iconic.
16:15 Apparently I'm a mutt... but jokes on him, if we're going by dog breeding lingo then he just called himself a purebreed which is another word for inbred. So you know what? Mutt it is. I prefer being from more than one culture, it gives me perspective and a more diverse family.
i always felt like an abomination or mistake cos of it. from both sides i get hate, not native enough or not white enough for them. but you are right and this gives me a new outlook on this subject? I've never reclaimed mutt but i think i am now lmao
You’re not mean, Nick. You laid out simple instructions, had basic expectations, and the audience knew the consequences for not following the instructions. You just stuck by your word
i remember once joining an nft space (i do not support nfts. just wanted to see how bad it'd be) and they said they'd be open to more lgbt nft...enjoyers or w/e. Love Wins trans people can also burn down undisclosed amounts of rainforest 💜
@@Amm68x What the person below you said. Also, instead of buying them and causing serious harm to the environment, you can easily right click the image or screenshot! It's as dumb as one may think.
also to add on to what zrblin and ♤ ǝʇʇǝnᴏɥlɪS ♤ have said rather than buying nfts you can directly support artists through commissions, purchasing from their shops, or even just retweeting their artwork
Shish, just normal twitter makes me uncomfortable, and now there is a thing when you can actually even hear all these aggressive and angry people live. I don't know what could be worse, maybe VR live version of twitter threads about politics and why LGBT+ people are annoying to “normal” white males?
Elsie asking for a British bark broke me, the barking contest was the best thing to happen to me today, the rest of the twitter spaces should be thrown into the open mouth of hell
What's wrong with being a mutt? Mutts are awesome: rat terriers, boxers, Yorkshire terriers, pharaoh hounds, Ibizan hounds, American pit bull terriers, Eurasiers, Pomeranians, Australian cattle dogs, Jack Russell terriers, American Indian dogs, need I go on?
As a mixed person hearing someone call us mutts literally made my heart sink. Like how fucked up do you have to be to say shit like that. Other than the n-word that is probably the worst thing I've ever heard, and I live in a predominantly white conservative town who openly show their racism.
also as a mixed person, I totally fucking understand. I'm Scottish/native mainly and I feel like an abomination, a thing that's not supposed to be here. a mutt who can't get accepted anywhere. but jokes on them, if we gonna use dog lingo he basically calls himself a purebred which is just a fancy word for inbred. and i would rather be a mutt, i would rather come from different cultures and overall have a super diverse family, other than a basic fucking everyday yt family that is racist and ableist and transphobic and homophobic even if they say they arent and believe that they arent they still do microaggressions everyday that i get hyperaware of and that all of us notice, while they think they are being normal or even kind... so i think im reclaiming mutt lmfao
@@dracohatesu9894 yea! I've always been told "pick a side" or "you're not black/white enough" it's ridiculous. I'm tired of ignorant ass mfs telling me what I can and can't be.
Lol not at all, they were just flustered that someone spoke English. They were actually laughing at themselves for not understanding English but they were wholesome. I should know, I'm French and nothing they said was mean.
@@frogs-assemble did you happen to here what the women said before nick asked if he could rap for them? It sounded like she was insulting him but I couldn't make out what she said.
@@spyterpig I think she says "wow, on a un anglais", which means "wow, we have an english speaker" but I'm not sure. I can't say with certainty she isn't saying bad things but I don't think she was. We're not as mean as cliches make us to be, I promise.
“now these spaces are going to get kind of heavy, so i want to start out with something light.” *transphobia, racism, and rap battles* ah yes the holy trinity
your rap genuinely made me laugh so hard (6:46-7:17) I thought they would for sure get annoyed by your eiffel tower-croissant bars but they were so sweet about all of it lol
me too but they were so sweet and supportive, i fr thought they were gonna dog on him and they started gassing him up. and the french have a tendency of being brutally honest
@@jonny5738 I don't actually know what they said in french but the way they were like "hell yea go on" when nick asked if he can rap too then hyped him up with emojis when he was rapping was hella wholesome. not excluding the possibility that someone might've cracked some jokes in french tho cause ion speak it 😭
@@jonny5738 this is from another comment I saw so idk if it's completely true... "When Nick started talking, one of them just said "Oh fuck he started speaking English and you all stuttered"" I also know the tiniest bit of French and it doesn't really sound like they're saying anything negative, they probably just feel awkward. BUT I might be wrong lmao.
@@aduck4567 I'm french and the guy absolutely did say that! They were not expecting this, especially since they were just chatting about unrelated topics and not rapping. Then it's difficult for me to understand because everybody speak at the same time but they seem to be surprised by how good the freestyle is? Maybe pretty hyped that an american would suddenly appear in the conv to rap, I'm sure it made their day.
The fact that they are letting these opinions be platformed as if they are all equal makes people believe that they're being validated for holding the worst opinions of all time
it makes me so angry that twitter is encouraging these "hot debates" bc twitter wants more activity... but all they're doing is making twitter unsafe for so many ppl :/
@@SirBlackReeds ah yes, bc you have to be a "wussy" to be worried about giving white supremacists and transphobes a platform... when you give angry bigots a community of like-minded ppl, they tend to become violent and either verbally or physically attack the ppl they want to oppress. there are ppl who will suffer the consequences of twitter not nipping this blatant show of hatred in the bud.
@disowned king JKR is still around. the "LGB Alliance" is still around. I get emails from Twitter promoting the shit out of TERF accounts weekly! Transphobes, racists, and misogynists are given a huge audience on Twitter and it's frankly depressing. And it does real harm.
@@SirBlackReeds nvm apparently all you do is give shitty "hot takes" and never respond, idk if it's cuz you haven't seen the notifications or if you're just a coward
A friend mentioned to me a space with white dudes talking about black women and yeah it was as shitty as that sounds I didn’t know this problem was this big.
probably about how there are too many black women in public and too many black people and those heavy stereotypes on black women...? i can almost hear those screeching whities
The thing about affirmative action and housing programs/food stamps that really frustrates me is that those systems directly benefit white communities more than it ever has POC communities yet black communities are the only ones who are targeted against when it is used!! Affirmative action helps White women the most by a land slide and it’s just so frustrating seeing this rhetoric constantly.
They also misunderstood affirmative action. The way it was proposed in may state is that they could use ones race as a tie breaker for equally qualified candidates.
especially when u consider that a lot of those social welfare programs arent just like... the gov giving u free money like a lot of these ppl seem to think?? the narrative of the "welfare queen" that's like "gaming the system" to get money without having to work just doesnt exist bc welfare programs are not designed to actually lift anyone out of poverty lol
i've always said if affirmative action gives black people more opportunity than qualified white people, its failing horribly because i was consistently the only black or latino kid in many of my classes at my "prestigious" high school.
I heard that when some people see for example a poc person who has an important occupation they usually assume that they got in because of affirmative actions and not his qualifications so they refuse to take service from him, also othering by coworkers.
It's so embarrassing how these people are so desperate to be heard regardless of what they have to say or who's listening. Grasping at straws for attention and begging for followers instead of living their lives.
Most of the spaces I’ve seen are just people being racist, homophobic, transphobic or just weird af. I’ve also seen ones where fandoms are having petty fights over the dumbest stuff. That’s why I don’t go into any of them because I’m scared of what is going to be said.
as a french speaker, even i couldn't really understand what the frenchies were saying lol all i really understood was that they were calling someone a bad word at the start and they were lowkey making fun of you when you first started talking but after you rapped you gained their respect
and in french! they said he was decent for freestyle but had trouble understanding the majority of it. they were mainly flustered/surprised at an English speaker in the chat.
Discord had a thing like spaces called Stages but they got rid of it because the same thing happening here was happening there. But since Twitter is a hellhole of a site, I don't think they're getting rid of it
Not gonna lie the racist spaces made me angry. People like that are braindead. We are all humans, we share all the same organs. Then only thing that really makes us different is skin color or country. I just don't understand.
The French rap section took me out lmao. This is genuinely the best video I've seen from you, Nick. exactly what I needed to see during finals week. Thank you!
Idk what twitter spaces expects from me, a woman who doesn’t believe men as a whole have it worse than women. Because I got a male support group recommended to me and I clicked it and its just women hate and how men have it soooo hard.
I do think we need to raise awareness about certain issues, like how adult men are have the highest risk of dying to suicide, which comes from patriarchal beliefs that men shouldn't care about their mental health. HOWEVER, a lot of MRA groups have been taken over by misogynists and that really damages the efforts made to help men who are struggling with the expectations of society. I'm an egalitarian, I believe everyone deserves to receive help and it's sad that bigots are taking away spaces from the people who genuinely want to get help for themselves and others.
@@starsiadraws I totally agree mens spaces need to exist and be much more help based and not pity based. I feel like it’s not womens fault but mainly mens fault for the hardships men face; aka the patriarchy. Toxic masculinity (which i think is what causes the suppression of mens own feelings like you brought up), voilence among men, sa against men.. its all largely a product of living under such a patriarchy. I wish support groups would be more about undoing the damage done by such a world and dismantling the effects that it has on them and those around them.
@@roseaeries You want to help? Stop blaming the imaginary patriarchy and don't blame toxic masculinity. Both are just vague concepts that do more harm than good.
The subject matter at the start actually just disintegrated several of my brain cells. Thanks, Nick, for bringing hell to us. We clearly don't deserve eternal paradise smh.
For some reason i was like is nick gonna drop bars in French, but then i thought no that doesn't feel right. The barking competition tho with the dude that flushed the toilet lmao. Peak moment was when the British dude turned to be a scam. Hearts were broken that day. A fantasitc video yet again nick ❤️

I can't believe you did a spaces video and didn't talk about Spaces Got Talent! It's so good. You gotta tune in the next time they do one. There are some really talented people that come on
16:40 as someone with a low income job who moved out at 19 and into a house i also qualify for all of those things which just shows how often POC are low income ughhhh
that's what i was thinking !!! like those programs weren't made specifically for black ppl, so why does he think so many black people end up having to use them? maybe it's because of the systemic racism he keeps denying exists??? also he talks about government programs as if they're good and helpful which is just not the case for many people
@@Maka0Soul exactly like even tho im on free government healthcare its not like i can get every medicine and operation and no therapists near me cover it either the only thing that is nice is EBT but again that only covers food people still have to worry about rent and bills i just cant wrap my head around people who think poc are just handed things
The term POC isn't helping. It's outdated and it weirdly applies to Asian. One moment they're POC and then the next, they're no different than a white person.
