The Metolius River in Oregon is a premier catch and release stream known for hard-to-catch, finicky trout. Last weekend, I hooked two, landed one on a size 16 version of this fly. It is now my “go to” for this season. Thanks for the great video!

Love that, looks like a great pattern for those times you're not sure what's going to work. I imagine the footprint in the water will be attractive. Thanks Davie.

Great tied flie Davie. This is, one of my favoritt flies. I tie them down to 16, and up to 8 sice. And in many collors.

Awesome mashup pattern Davie! I've watched a few tutorials on the Dyret lately and this is the coolest variant I've seen. It reminds of a Bomber too, lol, a "mini bomber"! You certainly inspire me Davie, all the best and thanks!

Davie, I have never left a comment on You Tube before, but after tying up some of these this morning and coming home with my creel full, I just had to say thanks for an excellent pattern. Looking forward to more

Nice! Just want to add that “dyret” means “the animal” in Norwegian.

Davie HELP!!!!. so im starting to make some video's as well and i need some info please. What kind of camera do you use and do you recomend a cheaply video camera with good close range. I have a nice light but my video showed up dark probably due to lack of knowlege of my camera, how many lights do you use? any other tips for your setup or making a great quality video such as yourself? Thanks for the info...long time watcher and fan!! youre my inspiration. greetings from the states!

Hi Brandon, I'm sorry about the delay is getting back to you..I did have a look at your video and as you know I prefer to have a blue shirt on as it does help to show the flies I'm tying...At the moment I'm using a Sony AX100e and to get a better closeup of the fly I add on a +2 filter which screws on to the lens, these filters don't cost a lot of money but you have to have the camera much closer to the vice so that it can focus on the fly..I use two small LED panels which are perfect as they clamp to the side of my desk and don't take up much room unlike the old lights I used to use.. I hope this is of some help to you and good luck with the videos... All the very best Davie

+Davie McPhail thanks for responding davie! yes I like the idea of your blue shirt, my video is probably dark due to the dark color of my shirt. your camera is pretty pricey but worth it as your videos look crystal clear. I have found a camera that shoots 1080p and also has an external zoom filter so I'm going to try that out as well as some LED lighting around me. thank you for your help! take care

Davie I will let you know how I get on, it's always nice to know how and where ones flies work. I tie for a local club and hang around the local tackle shops and you're regarded as some kind of tiers folk hero, just thought you should know. Best wishes from us in NZ
