This video is an absolute treasure. Hes no older than 19 here, just a kid, and has already written one of his best songs. It also just feels so relatable. I think many of us had similar experiences, being 19, drinking beers and smoking in a trailer somewhere while that one buddy played guitar. Really incredible stuff.
@@loganenglert3273 im 16 and ik u probably dont care but I love my life rn i got a women, im living for the Lord, finally getting to play the guitar for people
Dam wish I had a buddy growing up that could play and sing like this. Just gettin drunk and listening to him play some tunes would all I need to make an awesome night...
Where I’m from that’s pretty easy to come by lol me and my cousins used to get drunk and play guitar and their dad tried so hard to get us to play publicly 😂
@@LeskoBrandon2x you make valid points. I think Billy's voice works wonders for the type of music he plays, but objectively, you're right, Tyler seems like he's had vocal mentoring to say the least.
Seeing this man change from a heavy drinker and substance user to a many years sober religious man who supports good causes has been amazing. I don’t miss the old Childers, instead I’m excited to see what he can do as he takes care of himself.
Can’t say the same for Morgan Wallen. He’s going to rehab and saying it was “vocal rest”. Tyler is who people need to look up to. Not that tool Morgan Wallen
Tyler Childers has changed the way I listen to music the past 4-5 years. Shake the Frost, to me, is one of the greatest songs ever written. We went and saw Tyler last year at Railbird in Lexington. The show was unbelievable, but he didn't play this song. We saw him again in Tulsa in April. I just kept telling my wife, "He's got to play Shake the Frost". And, he did. And it was so incredible. God Bless Tyler Childers. I have never come across another artist that hits my soul like he does.
When I want to feel whole I come here! Who knows what the grind of the music industry will ultimately do to Mr. Childers. No matter what, the kid on this couch represents everything I love about music!
rwashington2310 soooo well said!!! Your words make me tear up a bit because there is so much truth in that statement. THIS is real and pure and absolutely beautiful..
The confidence and belief in yourself to play this song with the same quality and emotion that you would at a fancy studio with all the hype behind your name. It really shows his character and that he is making music for musics sake and not everything else that has come with the notoriety.
I’m going to take a wild guess and assume you don’t know him so i’m sorry if you do but, check out the actual song: Shake the frost-Tyler Childers :)))
There needs to be a playlist featuring stars before they were stars, playing on friend’s couches. This video and the famous Billy Strings’ “Dust in a Baggie” should be #1 & 2. What else?
What an amazing find! Sittin on the couch among friends recorded on a damn phone or something else of the like and he don't sound a damn bit different. I dunno if that is a statement on his professional mixers or his voice generally...whatever the case I am a MASSIVE fan and damn proud to call Tyler my Countryman!
my best friend Dave Cunningham played for us as kids (13 or so) until God called him home in our 50's. Not anywhere the talent of Red but his love for music was never in question. He always had a smile and would/could play any tune requested. RIP Big Dave. you are missed buddy
I’m 14 i found Tyler Childers abt a year ago I love his pure voice my brother is in the military he’s coming back next month he always tried to get me to play and Tyler made me want too I’ve been learning shake the frost now for a while so I can play it when he comes back
Just sitting there listening to pure gold and not realizing that this song would be listened to well over 20 million times. Tyler just has such an old soul when it comes to his lyrics.
Driving up through eastern Kentucky, western West Virginia, I always listen to him, puts it’s all in prospective. All that uncolored grit, straight to the soul.
I’m from the Midwest but when I was younger I would spend the summers at a family members in North East Tennessee. I learned so many things down there I could write a book about it but for the sake of the comment I’ll be brief. Those who call Appalachia home are some of the most honest and true people I’ve met. I don’t know if it’s the mountains that teach you to be honest with yourself or what. But what I do know is those months waking up to a fog laid over the fields and a breeze from the river is my second home. It taught me things about myself that I keep to this day.
Who were the 33 people who disliked this??? Tyler and Cody Jinks are bringing country music back one song at a time. If you don’t like this you must be a Florida-Georgia fan.
These raw videos of him playing are my favourites. ❤️ It just shows how much of his talent his pure and straight from his heart... that sounded so cheesy but I’m sticking with it.
There’s nothing better than listening to someone sing a song and you believe them. Even Felker is probably the only other guy I’ve listened too that I believe as much as Tyler Childers
I once played Townes to a buddy while camping at Sequoia, I changed the lyrics to “his names Christian, he’s the nicest thing I ever seen he won’t cheat me lie or steal”, the dude started crying. We are still friends, 5 years later and 10 going. Some cool times man.
Oh man how I wish I could if we discover my favorite artist all over again. I started listening to Tyler up a year ago I would say. I had heard of his name before but never really looked into her. There's literally a warm holes so prepare yourself. If you don't know of this other artist named Billy Strings & Whiskey Myers I would also check them out as well especially 'ol Billy Strannggs 🔥🎸🔥
How many people just as special as 2012 Tyler Childers do we overlook because they dont have millions of fans? I think it's a lot. It just goes to show you that we shouldnt let being famous determine the value we put on a person. Tyler was just as amazing before he got famous and so are countless other eastern Kentuckians.
Been watching this video for years, the amount of nonchalance and dumb assery in the room still blows my mind. This is one of the greatest songs ever written. Thanks Tyler.
This gives me chills to the max, absolutely love this. I must say unfortunately though, when I went to his Spotify none of his stuff does that for me, I think it's just the rawness of this version I guess.
This is best version of the song hands down. People often say "pray with intention" .... well you can hear the intention and heart in his voice. God bless this man
i just found tyler a few months ago but i cant get enough .. that sound is beyond and above... inspired me to take up learning the guitar ... shout out from kay county oklahoma !! tyler u rock, and thanks to whoever took this video
been a fan for some years now, this man made me a fan of music again. as a fella that grew up and still lives in W.V. his music really hits home. the artistry and amazing beauty in his lyrics and song writing, between him and Sturgill they breathed life back into me. thanks
You remind me of a Sunday Back home in ole' Kentucky With the church choirs just beltin' through the pines And I love you like the mountains Love's the way the mornin' opens To a soft and bright greetin' from the sun So if it'd make you stay I wouldn't act so angry all the time I wouldn't keep it all inside And I'd let you know how much I loved you every day So darlin' will ya stay right here And shake this frost off of my bones Well I used to ride a Mustang And I'd run that thing on high hopes Til' they raised the price of dreams so high I couldn't pay So I let that car just sit there When I should've took you driving With the windows down while the music played So if it'd make you stay I wouldn't act so angry all the time I wouldn't keep it all inside And I'd let you know how much I loved you every day So darlin' will ya stay right here And shake this frost off of my bones Darlin' will ya stay right here And shake this frost off of my bones
Mr.Tyler Childers VOICE was a great company in this hard quarantine here in the Basque Country. Thanx a lot for that. A FAN ALWAYS here in me. Great from the very first beginning!!! THE BEST WISHES!!
No one in that room, including tyler, could've ever known 10 years later 7 million fans would be singing along to the very same song. Never needing a studio version of it.
How much do I love this shit! To see one of the best, and my favorites, so young and in that time! A glimpse you don't always get to see with your favorite artists.
I absolutely can not wait to get home and show this gem to my hubby who introduced me to Tyler Childers about 6 months ago. We LOVE his voice and his writing and his pickin!!!!!!!!!!!!!
People that say these poeple don't know what they are witnessing obviously don't have friends that jam. I mean this is probably on another level than some but this was growing up for me. There was always an amazing performance while hanging out either by somebody else or with me playing and somebody else singing. You don't think Holy shit this guy is going to be famous you are too busy in the moment making memories with friends. That's what growing up is all about a series of amazing times you wish you could go back an live over and holy mess of moments that broke you and made you the person you are today
Amen brother... This was exactly how my family and friends spent every weekend, Christmas, Thanksgiving, birthdays you name it. If we were together we was jamming
